Spacious, three bed gite, comfortably sleeps 6, renovated to a high standard. The fitted kitchen has a cooker, hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, coffee machine and microwave and overlooks the dining area, with seating for 6. The utility room contains a washing machine, clothes airer and pegs.
The comfortable lounge area has three sofas, satellite TV, coffee table and a Bluetooth speaker. There's also a wood burner, perfect for the cooler months. The patio doors lead from the lounge on to the gite's terrace, with views across the meadow to the village. A barbecue and seating are provided.
There is a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs, and upstairs, there's a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each of which has its own shower, toilet and washbasin. A travel cot is available for guests' use, as is a booster seat for a dining chair and a stair gate.
Outside, there is a large pool and a jacuzzi with a decked area, a summer kitchen and extensive grounds. There is table tennis, giant jenga, darts, and swingball on site, with the village tennis court just next door (racquets are provided).
The games room/bar features a pool table, sofas for relaxing, books, a dart board and a video game machine.
Breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals can be provided and are paid locally.
The property is on the edge of the attractive village, Arques. The gite is in a peaceful location, yet within 5 minutes walk of village centre. Even a Cathar castle is less than 1km away. The nearest ski slopes are at Camurac, 57 kms away.

Complete Rest and Relaxation

Really nice quiet location with friendly chickens and dogs. The fields you look across had horses in them, which we liked to watch from the patio. The gite really gave us the opportunity to unplug and socialise as a family. Aileen and William kindly helped us organise horse riding, which the children really enjoyed and still talk about now.

Amazing christmas away at the gite

Wow what a lovely little gem we found on home and away. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and full of information. The property was perfect in every way. Everything was easy to get too. Defo recommend. We didnt want to leave. So much to see and do. All information is in a folder so the owners took the stress out of you searching for things. We would love to go back but stay for a bit longer next time so we can do more. Thank you for letting us stay for christmas and happy new year to you all x

Chris and I spent a wonderful 4 night stay at William and Aideen's gite. We were able to tie in our stay with very reasonable flights on the much maligned Ryanair service. Aideen and William are great hosts - flexible with costs and dates, very knowledgeable on their beautiful area of France. Future guests should pay particular attention to the magnificent iron gates to the front of the property - William has repaired and decorated them to perfection - they are a sight to behold as was William up his ladder during our stay!! More improvements are planned - no doubt Grandad Vince will be involved with Cara, Meelah and Jess supervising. We shall return soon.

Aideen ist eine sehr liebe und aufmerksame Vermieterin, wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt und als wir das Haus betreten haben, gab es ein Willkommenskörbchen, worüber wir uns sehr gefreut haben! Nochmals vielen Dank dafür an Aideen! Das Haus der Vermieter ist gegenüber des Poolbereiches, sie haben zwei sehr liebe Hunde über dessen Besuch wir uns immer gefreut haben.:-) Sehr schöne Umgebung. More than we could ever have wished for x

Fabulous setting, everything you could ever need was at our fingertips. Bill, Aideen and their two lovely daughters made it even more special. Lovely property in a lovely setting and lovely people on hand so helpful. We took our seven year old Triplets who want to go every year, ( not sure the owners would enjoy that) Even a night with Bill and family and lots of French locals under the stars to celebrate his Birthday a very special end to a very special holiday. Mooi gelegen gite met zwenbad en jacuzzi, alles is aanwezig maar de 2 badkamers zijn aan vernieuwing toe Ook airco in de slaapkamers is aan te raden, het kan er zeer warm worden. Bill en zijn echtgenote zijn zeer vriendelijke mensen die altijd bereikbaar zijn voor een woordje uitleg of een helpende hand. Prachtige streek maar auto is nodig voor al je uitstapjes

Lovely, relaxing family holiday

We stayed at the gite for a long weekend at the end of October with our two boys. There was plenty to keep them entertained, including table tennis, darts, bikes, a pool and a jacuzzi, although it was a bit cold to swim in the pool. We also had use of a tennis court nearby. Aideen and her husband were fantastic hosts. They were always available to answer our enquiries. The house was clean, warm and spacious, with a lovely barbecue area near the pool, which we made good use of. We'd definitely recommend staying with them.

We have recently returned from a week in Arques and had a lovely stay. The gite provided everything we needed, the pool provided hours of entertainment for our daughter along with the company of Bill and Aideen's lovely daughters. Plenty to see and explore in the local area or with a short drive you are at wonderful beaches and picturesque mountains.

Your choice

The gite is exactly as described and pictured, well equipped and spacious. Aideen and William are excellent hosts, friendly and helpful, although never intrusive. They know their area and their advice is well worth seeking. Their advice on routes and geography was better than our sat-nav on more than one occasion. We called this review "Your choice" because there are so many places to see and explore in this 'Land of the Cathars', in addition to the facilities at the gite. We were there for only a week but we (both 70) got to the Med twice, visited the Cite at Carcassone, explored several of the local villages and towns and had some interesting drives through what William calls the foothills, taking in some spectacular views, including some towards the Pyrenees 'proper'. We want to return to enjoy Aideen's and William's excellent gite and hospitality again . We have already recommended both to our daughter and son-in-law and their family.

Idyllic

Myself, my partner, my daughter and her partner have just spent a week at this fantastic place. William and Aideen were very welcoming, friendly and the perfect hosts, always there when you need them without being intrusive. The gite itself was lovely, very spacious and well equipped. There is a lovely little patio outside the gite with table and chairs, this is where I sat first thing every morning with a cuppa listening to the birds morning chorus. Most of our evenings were also spent here, to either have a BBQ or just sit and chat with a glass or 2 of wine! Horse riding, mountain biking, white water rafting, kayaking are all in the area. There is just so much to see and do, the list is endless, unfortunately we didn't get to see and do everything so we will just have to go back!! If you are looking for an holiday with stunning scenery in an idyllic location with perfect hosts then this is the place to be. Thank You Willaim & Aideen, you were fab xx

What a Dream

My husband and I and 2 friends stayed at Les Reves in early September. What a delightful time we had. The new owners couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and the gite itself had everything we could possibly need. I only wish I had found this gite when the family were younger as the pool and nearby riding stables would have proved a magnet for our boys. In addition the Mediterranean coast with all its seaside attractions is only an hours drive away, so you can have the best of both worlds. We flew from Liverpool to Carcasonne with Ryanair which was a short journey both in the air and when we landed in France.- Keep up the good work Bill and Aideen an excellent holiday.Any availability for Christmas!!!

After years of searching, we finally stumbled on our dream property, Les Reves, in 2013. Taking the decision to leave our jobs and take our daughters out of their school was not taken lightly, but we know it was exactly right! We love this area, with the ever changing light on the mountains, and we're sure you will too. We're now very happily settled with our dogs and chickens.

Why they chose this property

Arques is a peaceful location, but it has a great bar/restaurant and bakery. The people of the village have truly welcomed us and we feel a part of the community. The fetes in the surrounding villages during the summer are great fun and we feel lucky to be surrounded by mountains and vines. Personally, I love the range of walks all around.

What makes this property unique

Staying at Les Reves, you choose how much you want to do. You can have a tranquil, get away from it all holiday or you can opt to take part in the many outdoor activities on offer. Relax in the pool or the hot tub. The property is ideal for families, friends and couples alike.
