About this property

As seen on HGTV's My Lottery Dream Home! Gulf front home 3BR/3BA.

This home, completed in 2006, is situated directly on the ocean along Alabama's coast. It offers vacationers the best there is to enjoy a quiet, relaxed time on the beach. The home was the featured home on HGTV's My Lottery Dream Home Season 1, Episode 9. The home has been specifically designed to cater to all those little things you would have wanted in order to provide for a hassle free time on the beach--including deck chairs, beach towels, and all the basic kitchen amenities.

The home consists of 3 bedrooms ( 1 king, 1 queen, 2 twins). There is also a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. There are 2 baths inside (1 with shower, 1 with tub/shower combo). An outdoor bath and shower is located on the lower deck. It is fully private and has both hot and cold water.

There is a TV located in each bedroom and also in the living room. Wifi is also provided. A DVD player is located in the living room, and a sampling of movies is provided.

The home features open plan living, with the kitchen, living, and dining all composing one large room with a commanding view of the ocean. Dolphins can often been seen right from this room.

Off of this main living area, you will find a large deck overlooking the ocean which is perfect for lounging and watching the waves. Rocking chairs and lounge chairs are provided, along with a picnic table. A portion of the deck is covered, so it can be enjoyed even in the heat of the day. A staircase off of the deck leads you right down to the beach--with no walkways or boardwalks to cross. It is truly beachfront.


Mainstay Cottage is rented on a weekly basis most of the year with turn over days on Saturday only. It is rented on a monthly basis December through February. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 9 am.

This was the third time we rented Mainstay Cottage and as always, it exceeded our expectations! A few things that really stand out to our family are the outdoor shower (we always bathe our kids before coming into the house), the parking area (no sand involved) and the cleanliness of the home. It truly is a home away from home! Also, love seeing the updates Pete makes each year we come back!

This was our second stay and it’s truly the perfect beach house. Super clean and steps from the beach. We had a pretty significant issue due to a storm that came through prior to our arrival. Pete immediately took steps to help and fix any issues. We love Mainstay!!

Our favorite beach house we have stayed in, and by far the cleanest. the home is supplied with everything you need, including ALL the beach supplies. Pete is an excellent host and very responsive. Appreciated all the water hoses and private outdoor shower to clean all the sand off of kids before going inside. we will definitely be booking this house again! Subdivision is quiet and beach access was perfect.

We had such a lovely stay at the Mainstay Cottage. It is a really nice beach home with a gorgeous view. The host was very responsive and even ordered a new stove when the handle on the original one wasn’t attached on both sides. The kitchen was very well-equipped with everything a person would need, and the furniture and beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it!

This is our 4th stay at Mainstay Cottage. It is the best rental at the Gulf Coast. It has the kindest host who is attentive & accommodating. Pete provides everything one could need (fully outfitted kitchen, comfy bedding, several levels of porch sitting with plenty of chairs, beach umbrellas & surf chairs, large covered parking). He is always doing updates & upgrades & you can tell he takes great pride in providing a relaxing, comfortable stay. We don’t leave once we’re unpacked. The views from the porch & the great room/kitchen are stunning. A roomy beach is just steps away.

You really can't beat the views at this cottage! Pete was an awesome host, even making sure we were comfortable with no air conditioning for the first 3 days of our stay. The cottage was nice and clean, and stocked with so many amenities. The decor is a little dated, but all in all, such a nice place to stay. We will definitely be back.
