Welcoming cozy apartment in a quaint medieval village

The apartment is located at the first floor, in the oldest and picturesque part of Breglia, up genuinely medieval alleyways.
Equipped kitchen with pots and pans, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee pots, fridge, freezer. Cozy fireplace in the living room.
WiFi in the courtyard. On request we provide baby cot and baby high chair.
If you want to immerse yourself in Italian culture, out of the mass tourism, to find the Italy of the olden days, this is the place to do it: quiet,comfortable base to explore the area, Breglia is a green place at few minutes drive from the most famous places on Lake Como.
The village offers beautiful views, green woods, an ideal starting point for hikers.
IMPORTANT:
the apartment is in the heart of the medieval village, hasn't panoramic view, it looks the surrounding buildings: lake view and panoramas are at few meters from the house, just outside the village.
A spatious and free public parking is at 150 meters from the house, behind the church.

Great place tucked away in a lovely medieval village. Hosts have some great recommendations and is the start place of some good hikes either easy ones to viewpoints or you can hike all the way up to the top of Cima Monte Grona

This place was exactly what we were looking for. A perfect base in an idyllic village from which to explore the stunning forests and mountains. Far enough from the crowds of Lake Como to feel at one with nature, but close enough to be able to experience life on the lake when needed. The flat is basic, but very clean, well-equipped and authentic. An unforgettable four days. Grazie!

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour. Le lieu est très calme et atypique. Logement a l'écart des touristes dans un petit village médiéval en hauteur, très appréciable l'été pour sa fraîcheur le soir et la nuit et a seulement 15mn de menaggio ! La route permet de bénéficier d'un panoroma fantastique sur le lac! Eintauchen in italienisches Flair

Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und unser Gepäck zur Wohnung gefahren. Kleine Gassen und Aussichten, die das Herz schmelzen lassen. Der kleine Innenhof führte zur Wohnung im Erdgeschoss, die die gesamte Zeit angenehm kühl war. Wir bekamen eine Einführung in Wanderwege, sehenswerte Orte und alle weiteren Fragen via WhatsApp beantwortet. Fantastischer Service! In der Wohnung ist alles vorhanden, ein super Gasherd, Ofen und große Kühlkombi. Es standen auch mal Kräuter und Gemüse, Obst aus Lucias Garten vor unserer Tür. Danke für alles! Wir werden diese Reise immer im Kopf behalten, bitte wieder gern.

Ottimo luogo dove passare dei giorni in relax, appartamento accogliente e dotato dell’essenziale. Lucia è stata sempre disponibilissima in tutte le occasioni che abbiamo avuto bisogno. Ci ha indicato vari percorsi a piedi da fare fornendoci di cartine ben specificate. Abbiamo così visto molti posti nei dintorni e i nostri cani si sono divertiti tantissimo. L’appartamento rimane in una piccola corte (vedi foto) e purtroppo non è molto soleggiato però in caso di giornate un pochino fresche o fuori stagione si può accendere un fantastico camino.

Appartement is netjes onderhouden. Er is een douche in ligbad zonder douchestang. WiFi is zogoed als niet, tevens ook het netwerk slecht. De omgeving is prachtig, zeer geschikt voor wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers. In het restaurant lun je lekker eten voor niet te veel geld. Vanuit Breglia kun je diverse ritten maken naar dorpen rondom het Comomeer. Of met de hop on hop of boot voor 15 euro naar Lenno. Daar bevind zich villa Balbinello. Bekend van Star wars en James Bond.

Wonderful Breglia

We loved our time at the accommodation in Breglia. We hadn’t realised the accommodation was so far up in the mountains but this turned out to be a huge benefit as the views were stunning and area very peaceful. Many of the properties in the area are very old and steeped in amazing history. Lucia, owner of the property, was very accommodating and friendly. She has tremendous knowledge of the local area and was able to offer lots of advice and guidance in regards to local walks and places of interest as well as the history of the place. During our stay we went on a hike to the Menaggio Refugo which was situated deep in the mountains. Although a challenging walk in places, the views from the refugo were panoramic and well worth the effort. We also walked down the mountain path ways from our accommodation to Menaggio which took around 1.5 hours and around 2 hours back up. There is a local bus that we caught on one occasion from Menaggio to Breglia that took about 20mins. Although the accommodation was basic, it was comfortable enough and had a well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed (may have benefited for a duvet as opposed to blankets) and a pleasant lounge area. Lucia provided wood for the fire and there was a separate heater fuelled on wood pellets which is clean and simple to use. We enjoyed meeting the local people of Breglia who were extremely friendly, especially next door neighbour Claudio who could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone who enjoys spending time in a beautiful and peaceful place as well as enjoying and experiencing the local history.

Sehr gemütliches Appartement in einem Schönen Bergdorf mit schönen Aussichten auf den Comer See Lucia ist sehr nett, herzlich und hilfsbereit In Breglia gibt es nur ein Restaurant, das Essen dort ist aber sehr gut 😊 und bezahlbar Zwei Kilometer bergab gibt es eine Bar und einen kleinen Supermarkt. Der Cappuccino und die Croissants dort sind super 8 mal täglich fährt ein Bus zum See runter und retour Alles in allem ein perfekter Platz für ein paar relaxte Tage ohne Jubel und Trubel 🙃👍🙃

Die Vermieterin, Lucia, versorgte uns bei Ankunft mit allen möglichen Informationen(Bus Verbindungen, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten,Tipps zu Ausflügen mit Boot u.zu Fuß)so dass wir nicht viel recherchieren mussten. Die Unterkunft ist für für Leute geeignet, die ihre Ruhe möchten, da es nur italienisches Fernsehen gibt u. Wlan nur am 10m entfernten Turm. Man kann im kleinen Innenhof schön sitzen, einenSeeblick gibt es entfernt von einer Bank aus. Zu empfehlen ist das Hotel** , das tgl. ein Touristenmenü für 18 EURO anbietet.Wasser kann man sich aus der 500m entfernten Quelle holen (Tipp von Lucia)Ein Lob an Lucia, die uns im Vorfeld schon kontaktierte.uns sehr freundlich in Empfang nahm u. uns weiterhin mit Infos versorgte. Einziger Nachteil-die Wohnung ist etwas dunkel.

Homely, comfortable stay in a traditional medieval village.

We wanted to stay in a traditional village home and this was perfect. Our neighbour, Claudio, was welcoming and everyone we met very friendly. It was an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Lucia provided lots of information regarding local transport, walks and areas of interest. She was also available to welcome us to the property and to explain how the various appliances operated, together with information regarding the village restaurant and local shopping. The lake is within walking distance and all lakeside towns are accessible via the regular ferry service. A bus is available to the village from Menaggio. We visited Lake Lugano in Switzerland using the local bus service, which takes approximately 1 hour. Also a trip to Milan using the ferry to Varenna and train onwards to Milan. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend the home and area to anyone looking for a relaxing, outdoors retreat/holiday.

ursprünglich und sauber

Breglia liegt 15 Minuten von Menaggio den Berg hinauf und ist ein hübscher, ursprünglicher bewohnter Ort mit sehr netten Bewohnern. Inmitten des Ortes liegt die kleine und sehr saubere Ferienwohung. Sie liegt ca 3 Minuten zu Fuß vom Parkplatz (Treffpunkt mit der Vermieterin) entfernt. Sie hat ein Doppelbett mit zwei Matratzen, auf dem es sich sehr gut schläft, sowie eine Doppelschlafcouch im Wohnzimmer und ein Einzelschafsofa. Die Doppelschlafcouch ist neu und auch sehr bequem. Lucia ist eine ausgesprochen nette Gastgeberin, so dass man sich bei der Ankuft gleich willkommen fühlt. Sie kennt sich bestens aus und kann einem Tipps nach den eigenen Bedürfnissen geben. Sie spricht hervoragendes Englisch. Die Wohnung ist auch bei über 30 Grad kühl und angenehm. Einen Blick auf den See hat man von der Wohnung aus nicht - aber es reichen 3 Minuten zu Fuß, um auf den See zu blicken. Breglia scheint ein beliebter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen und Spaziergänge zu sein. Wir haben uns da sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder dort hin.

Appartamento ottimo, immerso in un'oasi di pace.

Appartamento ottimo, ben arredato, funzionale, dotato di tutti i confort, come da descrizione. La signora Lucia, il marito e i figli sono molto gentili e ospitali. Lucia è stata una miniera di informazioni logistiche, e turistiche, sia per piccole escursioni a piedi vicino all'appartamento, sia per escursioni in macchina a lungo raggio, su tutto il lago di Como, il lago di Lugano, la Valtellina e la Valchiavenna. L' appartamento è anche fornito di numerose piantine, guide turistiche, etc. Consiglio vivamente la breve escursione dall'appartamento alla piccola cappella di S. Domenico (max 20 min. per l'andata), da cui potrete godere di una delle viste più belle del lago di Como: una chicca per pochi !! Altra vista da non perdere quella dalla cima del Monte Sighignola (circa 1 ora), sopra Campione d'Italia, da cui si ammira, praticamente a 270 gradi, tutto il Lago di Lugano e le alpi sullo sfondo. Breglia, situata in altura a circa 1 ora di macchina da Como, è in una posizione strategica per visitare comodamente tutto il Lago di Como e i dintorni. Si scende a Menaggio in 10 minuti, e ci si trova anche sulla strada per andare al Lago di Lugano (meno di 1 ora), o quella per andare in Valtellina (1 ora 1/2), piuttosto che in Val Chiavenna (poco più di 1 ora) o a Saint-Moritz (circa 2 ore) . Unico inconveniente (o vantaggio !!) il cellulare non riceve quasi mai da dentro l'appartamento: tuttavia è sufficiente uscire e fare pochi metri per telefonare. Il WiFi, condiviso dall'appartamento della gentilissima proprietaria, si riceve da fuori l'appartamento o al limite di fronte alla porta, tenendola aperta. Concludendo un posto ideale per amanti della natura, delle passeggiate, e delle escursioni a piedi e in macchina. Sconsigliato per pantofolari amanti della mondanità :D

Wir waren für 12 Tage in Breglia und sind immer noch ganz begeistert. Die Wohnung ist sehr sauber und komplett eingerichtet wie beschrieben. Schon die erste Begegnung mit Lucia war sehr herzlich. Solch eine nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeberin ist schon außergewöhnlich. Wir bekamen jede Menge hilfreiche Tipps für Freizeitmöglichkeiten. Ob mit dem Schiff die umliegenden Dörfer zu erkunden, zu Fuß auf den von Breglia startenden Wanderweg hinauf zum Monte Grona zu wandern oder mit dem Fahrrad eine der zahlreichen Radtouren z.B. nach Porlezza am Luganer See zu unternehmen. Dort kommt jeder auf seine Kosten. Und dazu noch das tolle, imposante Panorama des Comer Sees aus der Höhe von Breglia jeden Tag zu sehen. Das ist einfach nur genial. Wir werden mit Sicherheit wieder kommen. Ob

This was the birthplace of my ancestors, now is the place of our vacation, even for a short “few hours” break, as it is few minutes driving from the most famous and busiest places on Lake Como.
About Breglia I really appreciate the peace and the enchanting woods where walking between chestnut trees. One of my favorite destinations is the small chapel of San Domenico, it looks like a balcony on the lake! Is an easy flat route, less than an hour.
Just 10 minutes from the house walking in the woods there is a spring of an excellent mineral water.

Why they chose this property

For those who love the ancient and charming sites this is the place: the house is in the oldest part of the village, next to the medieval tower (XII century) and in front of what was once a convent of Dominican monks (XV century).

We recently renewed our apartment, equipping of a beautiful spacious well-equipped kitchen, new bedroom's furniture and wifi. The fireplace, with a glass door and an internal heating system is perfect in autumn evenings and rainy days!! The house hasn’t a panoramic view, as is inside the heart of the village: windows look at the alleys and at the surroundings buildings. But if you want a comfortable apartment that is, and you can enjoy stunning views just at few meters outside the village, where the ancient alleyways entering the woods becoming mule tracks. Car parking is not a problem here, is at about 150 meters from the house: a large square behind the Church, free, with no time limits!! There is also a regular bus service from/to Menaggio (bus n. C13)
