This was a family get together for New Year and a birthday celebration. The property is as described and plenty of room for 10 of us. The hosts were so helpful and friendly we would definitely rebook

Thank you, Jeanette. We would welcome you back at any time.
Tony and Dorothy made us feel very welcome! The cottage is no frills but exactly that we needed and expected, and ideal for a family with lots of young ones and an active dog
This cottage was great for our family, with lots of children. A great cottage with lots of space with the added bonus of the woods, garden and fields. We used this as a base to explore the local area and headed up to Edinburgh too.
Thanks to Dorothy and Tony for their hospitality.

You're very welcome. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and would be pleased to see you back at any time.
It was home from home, we all loved it especially the children who particularly loved the private woods and gardens. We were made to feel very welcome from a very friendly couple with gifts on arrival. We will definitely go back.
We had to change our New Year booking to June due to covid restrictions which Dorothy arranged seamlessly. The property was clean and had all the facilities required for a family stay. This included games, toys and dressing up box which our young grandkids fully utilised.

It was good that you were able to rearrange your visit, Iain. I'm glad you all enjoyed it.
The children were spoiled between playing in the enclosed garden, exploring the woods attached to the property or sharing the many toys provided. We were all fascinated by the housemartins and swallows building their nests all around the buildings and hearing owls and seeing bats as dusk fell. The cottage feels secluded but is easily accessible from the road. A perfect base for the many attractions offered within a relatively short drive.

Lovely place to relax and stay a little out dated but just lovely people and we will come back
Lovely and relaxing place to stay and re charge our batteries.
Just a little out dated in certain areas. Could do with a set of draws in one of the bedrooms and a chair would be handy in the bedroom. Just lovely people and could not do enough for you . Thank you so much for your hospitality. Mary Hurst

Ideal countryside base to explore Northumberland
We needed a large enough cottage to accommodate the needs of two families with children. The layout (with its two bathrooms) meant that our families could enjoy their own space when needed. It is fully equipped with everything you need - right down to dishwasher tablets and barbeque fuel. It's a quiet location. The owners live in the separate house next door, and are very helpful when you need anything. Most attractions are within a 40 minute drive of the cottage, making it an ideal base. There's a fantastic, quiet beach only 20 mins away, which is much easier to get to than Bamburgh. Had a great week here!

A great holiday..
We have just arrived back from our stay in "Oxendeanburn Cottage".. We arrived to a warm welcome from Dorothy and Tony, the bungalow was lovely and warm. We were a party of 8 adults, 2 teenage children and dogs.. There was ample room for us all, a very well equipped kitchen plenty of tea coffee sugar soap & dishwasher tablets etc.. towels for the dogs and also a nice surprise in the fridge!! The lounge had reclining chairs and settee's which were great to relax in after a day of adventures, and we had plenty of them.. We had days out, Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne, Edinburgh and a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins all excellent.. We all ( including teenagers & dogs) had a wonderful time, lots of laughter in the woods with our water pistols, and playing games around the table after our evening meal.. I would gladly recommend to friends and family..

Lovely property. Amazing hosts
We arrived here Friday night. What a lovely welcome Dorothy and Tony gave us. Made us feel very welcome and also made us feel that we could treat the cottage as our home for the duration of the stay.
The cottage itself is clean and the beds are really comfy. The living room has loads of seating. (One thing to note there is no DVD player). The boot room / utility at the end of the house is great when you're coming in with mucky kids and a mucky dog.
The woods are a lovely surprise and the walk through them is lovely. We didn't have the greatest weather but it didn't stop us enjoying them.
On the last night we thought we'd roast marshmallows outside. A quick note to Tony and Dorothy as voila. Wood. Matches and fire lighters ready in a jiffy.
Kelso swimming baths is handy for the really bad days and they have inflatable sessions that the kids really enjoyed.
Holy island worth a trip as well. (Tide times in the cottage)
Overall. I cant recommend this place enough.

Great property, brilliant location, can't recommend enough.
Three families spent a week here in early August. The layout worked really well for us - a triple room (with toys) for the three youngest girls, a twin room for the teenage boys and three doubles for the adults. Note - I think some of the rooms can be reconfigured if you need it.
It's well kept and well equipped - plenty of glasses, cups, bowls, etc. There's a utility room at the end with a sink, fridge, washing machine and tumble drier ("use it as much as you like").
Some other reviews mentioned the reclining chairs in the living room. I didn't think this too much of this, but everyone (including me) thought they were great. Some of them rock too (the kids loved this). Really nice at the end of the day.
The location was great - there's a road nearby, but it's hidden by big hedges and we barely noticed it. The younger kids loved the private woods - enclosed and secure, so happy for them to go and play by themselves. A patio outside, lawn, seating area, barbecue and plenty of other space to just potter around in. Plus outbuildings to stick the bikes in.
We found plenty to do - Seahouses for seaside stuff (chips, slots, crazy golf); Berwick for a walk round the walls; Etal and Norham castles (plus light railway); Walks along the Tweed or into Cornhill.
The local shop in Cornhill is very well stocked - we walked there with and had lunch. There's a bigger co-op 10-15 mins drive away (note - in Coldstream, Scotland, so not subject to England's restrictive Sunday trading laws).
The owners live next door and were great. They summed it up well when they first showed us round, "you can see as much or as little of us as you like". They provided useful advice on places to go and events (we were lucky enough to be there for Coldstream Civic Week/Ridings), but generally they left us to get on with it.
A final word from the teenagers - both of whom were extremely worried about the internet - They were pleasantly surprised. Whilst not matching the speeds they are used to at home (in cities), it was pretty reasonable much of the time.
Thanks Tony and Dorothy - we had a great week. We're talking about coming back next year.

Beautiful setting over looking farmland, lovely hosts who are very friendly and helpful.
The only things that stopped this from being perfect was a lack of storage space, we had good all over the place as no cupboard space and this is the first property I have had to live out of a suitcase due to lack of storage in the bedrooms
Friendly, knowledgeable hosts. Extremely well equipped, including numerous toys, games and books for children. Also books and board games for adults, a good lawned area for children to play and adults to relax. Beds and sofas were all very comfortable, decor was a little bit tired. Excellent value.

Holiday
Nice large accommodation,Tony and Dorothy very welcoming and suggested lovely walks from the door, house very close to road bso alot of passing traffic, lovely villages to visit in surrounding area
We had a fabulous weekend in Cornhill. I have stayed there for two family holidays previously and brought a different family group.
The kitchen faciities are excellent, having two spaces helps with storage. My younger kids adore the toys in the playroom, the lounge is comfortable, and the house was warm.
We went for beautiful beach walks, explored the local area and had a great short run through the village and down to the river. Everything was great.

We are delighted you like staying with us, Rhona. It would be lovely to see you again sometime soon.
We would like to keep this wonderful place as a secret.
Excellent communication from Dorothy and Tony throughout. They made us feel very welcome.
And the settings made us feel like we were living the famous 5 adventures splashing through the river and exploring the woods with fresh eggs and potatoes on our doorstep. Plenty of space for the 9 of us. Thanks so much for letting us stay.
This was the perfect location to explore Northumberland. House was very well equipped and hosts were so friendly and helpful with things to see and do. Thank you so much for the bottle of fizz and eggs and milk as a welcome present plus other useful basics in the kitchen to help out with meal prep. Special mention to the super comfy beds. Loved the views from the house and next door woods and fields to dog walk in. Garden dog proof, secure and private. Great place to stay, highly recommend.
It has all the facilities families need for good weather (barbeque, walks, garden) lots of games and things to do when the weather is not so good. The welcome from Dorothy and Tony was excellent. Their COVID precautions were well managed. The Welcome pack with fresh vegetables from their garden was very welcome.
