About this property
Colourful two bedroom flat with a large garden
Our colourful and quirky two bedroom flat is on the ground floor of a period property in Kensal Rise, North West London. We're located in a laid-back, urban area with plenty of good local restaurants, fun bars, cool interiors and fashion boutiques, a gorgeous flower shop called Scarlet & Violet, plus our favourite local haunt, The Lexi, a boutique cinema, which is a couple of minutes stroll from the flat. The area has two parks very close by and is very family-friendly.
THE ACCOMMODATION
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superking bed, which is suitable for two guests, and the smaller second bedroom has a kingsize bed and sleeps an additional two guests. We can also set up a campbed in the sitting room for a fifth guest (but only suitable for children). Both bedrooms have chest of drawers with clothes hanging and storage space. We can also provide a travel cot and a high chair. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, a sink and WC.
There is a comfortable and sunny sitting room with two sofas and a TV. It's the perfect spot to kick back with a refreshing cup tea and a good book! The kitchen/diner, which looks out on to a long leafy garden, is well kitted out with a gas hob, electric oven, large American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, plus a second small fridge if needs, washing machine and ample chinaware and glassware. We also provide cooking essentials such as spices and store cupboard ingredients including pasta, rice etc.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Centrally located just two miles from the centre of London, Kensal Rise is close to the buzzing markets of Portobello and Notting Hill and a stroll away from lots of great local coffee shops including Gails, Cable & Co and Taste of Chamberlayne. There are lots of cool gastro bars in Kensal Rise including The Chamberlayne (our favourite place locally), The Whippet, The Paradise (very lively, with the occasional celeb in situ, plus excellent restaurant) and The Parlour all along Chamberlayne Road. On College Road you'll find The Island, another good eating and drinking spot and Angelo's, a lovely place to grab an authentic Italian coffee plus great deli items. If you want to eat at home Brooks Butchers has a fantastic selection of meat, plus organic vegetables, preserved meats, fresh fish and some good wine. Also there's Planet Organic in Queens Park which has a great selection of fresh meat and fish as well great organic veg. We have a lovely local cinema called the Lexi, which has two screens and features arty and mainstream films where you can enjoy a drink while watching the latest releases.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY
Queens Park is perfect for families and has a café with tables inside and out, a large play area perfect for letting off steam, mini-golf, a small petting zoo, a couple of table tennis tables and several tennis courts. And if you're keen on keeping fit, It's also a handy spot for an early morning jog. We are also close to Regent's canal, where you can amble, jog or cycle and check out the sights from East to West.
LOCAL TRANSPORT
We have excellent transport links to central London and further afield. There is Kensal Rise train station just a five minute walk from the flat that goes from East to West London - so from the attractions of Stratford in the East (which includes the Olympic stadium and Westfield East) to leafy Richmond in the West. There is also a direct train from Kensal Rise to the vast shopping attractions of Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush, West London. We are a 10 to 15 minute walk (depending on whether you march or amble) across a pretty park to Queen's Park station on the Bakerloo line, which is a 20 minute tube ride to Oxford Street where you'll find lots of great shopping, restaurants, fun nightlife and theatre. There is on street parking (with parking metres on two nearby streets and we can pre-arrange parking permits for our street) and tubes and trains run until midnight. There are also numerous buses and night buses running into the centre of the city and we highly recommend taking a bus or two as sitting on the top deck is a great way to discover some of London's highlights.
We can supply taxi details or arrange pick ups to and from airports/train station etc and for £6 per day Monday-Free can supply parking permits for on street parking. It's free to park at the weekends.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A clean and tidy flat that's spacious enough to sleep up to four people. It's a a warm and cosy spot that's ideal for families or a small group of friends and affordable enough just for two. We'll provide fresh bedlinen and towels on arrival plus a stock of tea, coffee and milk, lots of cooking ingredients, and if we can help you with anything else (eg restaurant recommendations or bookings, shopping in advance) please ask!
We are always available by phone and usually not too far away when guests are staying. If we happen to be away you can let yourselves using the lockbox.
