Highlights:
Clean
Well appointed
Helpful owner
Warm
Village is a great location to explore from
Improvements:
Master bedroom is a small double
Pubs in village not dog friendly
Next time we would choose an enclosed garden for dog to 'pop' out
Some Road noise
Very nice and clean property with all the facilities with lots of information. The owner must have work very hard to for the hosts.
Calm and peaceful neighbourhood feel very safe with close distances of all amenities.
Definitely will recommend to anyone travelling with own transport.
A good sized house with generous proportions, rather bland decor internally, The road is reasonable busy esp. during the day. Overall, good value for money esp. if you needed three bedrooms .

Absolutely beautiful
Came up from Birmingham to visit family and fed up of the hotel environment so decided to give the rental market a try - won’t be going back to hotels. Beautiful cottage with beautiful facilities. Close by to transport links and easy to get to many local places of beauty.
The welcome pack was a lovely touch when we arrived - cereal biscuits milk to name a few. Plenty of space - there were 5 of us staying and never once did we feel under each other’s feet. Will definitely be back when we come for another visit.

Nice cottage in a good location, suffoekt for a family of 5 including three kids
The property was as described in Homeaway. Overall my family and I liked the property. There was a problem with the boiler as we checked in but the owner was waiting with new heaters and that sorted us out fine. On the last day the owner had to bring in three different companies to check the problem with the boiler and give her quotes. I allowed it (she was kind enough to ask) but didn’t appreciate having to go through that during our stay. Despite that it was a lovely stay and a nice warm home.

Thank you for your kind review Mohammed, I’m glad you and your family enjoyed your stay.
I totally understand your frustration allowing me to access the cottage during your stay, I did try and keep the disruption to a minimum by organising them to come within an hours time slot mid day, however I appreciate this was not ideal and ordinarily would never do this, but I found myself in extraordinary circumstances where We had an emergency, the boiler had broken down and required replacing and I had no gaps between guests.
So once again I apologise, The boiler has now been replaced so there should be no further issues. 😊
I do hope you and your family will visit us again.

Lovely cottage. Whole process was very straightforward. House very clean with all the facilities you would need to make it home from home.
Thank you Lynne for Christmas tree and welcome pack.
All in all a lovely stay. Will be back.
Enjoyed our stay here. Good facilities and equipment. No dishwasher and a very small hand basin in the shower room. Small shower too for the space available.
Had a wonderful time and the cottage was fabulous. It was clean, well kept and there was even a lovely welcome hamper awaiting us. The location is great - close to Durham and its castle/cathedral, High Power waterfall and the beamish museum which kept both adults and children entertained. There are also some beautiful walks literally around the corner. All in all, very highly recommended.
The cottage was fantastic and had everything we needed for our stay. It is clean & comfortable, nicely decorated and very well equipped. Great for families with bunk beds, toys and books. The welcome pack was a really nice touch. We would definitely stay here again and will be recommending it to anyone else who wants to stay in the area.
The property was perfect for us. It has two bathrooms, which is great when there are a few of you staying and everything required for a pleasant stay. The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, crockery and appliances, so if you want to spend evenings in, everything is there. We prefer to travel without a car and the cottage is perfect for that. There are two regular buses giving frequent and fast access to Durham (and train links to everywhere) and the 24 bus, which goes right past the cottage, will even take you to Hartlepool if you want (we used it to visit HMS Trincomalee). The village of Sherburn is very friendly and we visited the two pubs while we were there, we also did some rambling in the local area, including a walk into Durham via the river. Lynne was very approachable and helpful, so all in all a great break in the excellent North East. We would not hesitate to recommend Stone Cottage.
The cottage is very conveniently located for Durham, Newcastle and other areas. We had a good time and having a lovely base to call home was great.

Hi I'm Lynne, I live with my partner Peter and son Frankie in Northumberland. Peter lived in Sherburn Hill, when I met him and I fell in love with the area. I chose to buy a cottage in the village so we could maintain our links with the area and also give all of you the chance to visit.
