Loved the location, saw many dolphins, caught lots of different size fish ,pool was resfreshing Kids loved it Thank you for letting us enjoy our time here
We have stayed here for the 4th time and every time it was great. We say lots of dolphins this year! Great for a family because there is plenty of room for everyone. The house stayed cool and comfortable. The owners were available for any questions or concerns. I recommend this house because it is awesome, quite and private. The neighbors are very nice also.
I and my family had a great time and my children enjoyed the pool. This house has everything you need to have a good time. We are very happy and we hope to return here soon. Thank you
I can not say enough about our stay here, it was the best little getaway with family and had everything we wanted and needed!! We fished off the beautiful pier every night watched AMAZING sunsets had dolphins swimming right by the pier found seashells, crabs and played in the sand all at our back door! Had amazing communication with the property manager/owner and had a pool to cook off in when we didn’t go over to the beach! I would recommend this place to everyone!!!
My family and I spent four nights at this large home in Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan area. It is very quiet, perfect for relaxing and fishing. The pier is a great size and we caught many fish, including a shark. The view is amazing especially at sun rise and sun set. The home is somewhat dated but that was not important to us. My family of 11 had adequate room and made great memories that will last a lifetime. The very large pool is also a nice place to relax. We would travel here again.
Can't swim. You can only swim in the pool that was never cleaned the whole week we were there. Even though it states pool will be clean twice a week. The porch is falling in my kid almost fell through it. The floor down stairs will pench your feet. Fishing was pretty go
The location was secluded and quiet. The site to the bay was outstanding. The property had its own dock, which my spouse and son enjoyed thoroughly. When I needed to get a hold of the host he got back to me very promptly.
However, the property is in need of some updating. The flooring and paint could use updating. None of the television had the same channels, the television in the basement did not have access to cable or streaming, the television in the main living room we had to use our own streaming to watch, but the primary bedroom upstairs did have cable. The refrigerator had a horrible fish smell, which was probably from prior guest.
With all of that said, the memories made are priceless and my family and I would stay again.

Beautiful view
It was just the 2 of us on this trip, so we didn't even use the downstairs the house is so big. You could easily take a large family here, there is so much room. The owner was very nice and accommodating. The house has a great view, we spent the majority of our time on the back deck watching the waves, birds, jumping fish, and dolphins. The master bedroom upstairs doesn't have windows which is perfect! We like our room to be dark when we are sleeping and everytime we vacation I am always disappointed in how bright the rooms are, but not here (best sleep I've ever gotten on vacation). We had a wonderful time here, thank you so much!
plenty of room, since we had a 18month, neighbors caution us with him outside, did see lsrge snake
plenty of room, since we had a 18month, neighbors caution us with him outside, did see large snake , he left us along and we did the same
cooler than expected, this was mother nature and nothing could be done in that case.
We had an amazing 9day stay. I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and relaxing location. I payed on the beach area (I broke my foot on day 2 of vacation) and my husband fished off the pier. The seclusion of the property gave us the privacy we were seeking, the quiet we needed and the ability to forget the world existed. Thank you for sharing your amazing property for those of us that need to forget the world exists. I bought a mesh float for the pool and purposely left it at the property for others to use. I have no use for it at home. The pool was a welcome treat on those hot sunny days. I can’t say enough about how magical our stay was. We will be back in the future. We vacation in Gulf Shores every year around the same time for a 3 day Golf Tournament. Hopefully the property will be available next year when we come to visit.
Location was great for what we were looking for. Three of us friends get together yearly to fish and play golf. Only problem was the downstairs area. It needed lots of work. Rooms needed upgraded repairs as well as beds were hard, head board was just placed and not even attached to bed. Decks and handrails had nails sticking out. Nail on screen door stuck in my finger as it closed. Not quiet what I expected for the price I paid.
Disappointed that the description of the property does not tell you that the kitchen and dining area is upstairs. We had a member of our party that could not access the upstairs due to physical limitations walking upstairs, so we had to cook everything upstairs and try and eat downstairs, the only place to eat in a group downstairs was outside in the heat. The house itself the air conditioning is next to nonexistent, posted signs underneath thermostats state do not set below 74 degrees or it will freeze up, it stays hot all the time. Every television worked off a different remote and all could not even access the basic cable they had, some upstairs were not even connected. Renter beware all is not as described in the description of the property
We loved being at the State Rests. The house is large and comfortable, with lots of room for our family of 7 (with 5 kids ages 7 to 16) to spread out. Great outdoor spaces with both open and screened in decks. My kids had fun with the pool, swingset and the mini golf holes in the front yard. The beach area by the water was nice for kids to play in the sand. The pier is new and very nice. No railings, but it wasnt as high as some we've been to, and the water below is shallow, so that was ok. We easily caught crabs off the dock and used the large pot to boil them.
We enjoyed that the house was away from the tourist "stuff" and spent most of our time in the state park and at various places string crabbing. But the drive to Gulf Shores and all its attractions is short if you wanted to do that. Fort Morgan is close and was a pretty cool historical site to explore.
I didn't need much from the owner, but he quickly responded to the couple questions I had.
All in all, it was an awesome place to spend a week. It's not fancy, but if you're looking for a place to call home for a week, this place is a winner.
Not much good to say about this place other than peaceful and beautiful scenery!
The bad is quite a long list..
House is very dated, needs a complete renovation. Second day of stay, house filled with sewer gas then downstairs bathroom clogged and flooded the basement floor. ALL NEW PLUMBING IS NEEDED!! Sewer clean out was outside on the back deck and had toilet paper floating on deck..
Dirty bedding, bedding looked dingy including pillows on couch. Womens underwear found in dresser. (Ew)
Cracked flooring would pinch your feet. Doors didn't shut right. Smoke detector hanging out of ceiling buy wires and two plug in boxes hanging out of wall.
Out side maintenance is really poor. There are weeds and thorns everywhere. The deck is in need of repair. Nails sticking up everywhere and some boards are rotting and weathered.
Junk sitting around the house, old bathtub, hoses and barrels.
There is no hand railing on peir, so can be dangerous to walk on.
House was not represented properly as seen in pictures!!
Will not stay again!
This house is awesome! We saw 5 dolphins out back one morning and 2 dolphins the next morning. The day we saw 5 dolphins they were right next to the pier! It was awesome.
There is plenty of room in this house. Two bedrooms downstairs and 1 bedroom upstairs with another room that can be used as a bedroom! There is an ice maker, 2 refrigerators (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs), every pot and pan you can think of, a nice living room and 2 screened in decks (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs). The neighbors are super nice.
We have stayed here 3 times now. In every review I state that this property needs some TLC. I don't consider it filthy by any means but the corners of the rooms need to be cleaned out and the floors scrubbed. The door knob areas needs to be wiped down and if it is stained...just slap some paint on it so it will look clean. The nails on the deck need to be hammered in. Some were sticking up 1/4 inch! Light bulbs need to be replaced. The mattress in the room we stayed in needs to be replaced (downstairs back room). The toilet downstairs would not flush so we took the back off the toilet and manually flushed it. The problem is that the handle is plastic and it is not strong enough to make the flush. We cleaned out the drain in the shower upstairs. Need to run something down the drain to clear it out further.
Like I said, this place is awesome. Just do some maintenance and it will be perfect!!!! I hope our group will choose to stay here again next year.
The house is on a one lane track off of a state route. The place is a dirty, filthy, nasty mess. Thebplace was in serious disrepair. Tile was cracked and could pinch your feet. Walls and floors were filthy. There were several electrical outets with wires exposed and/or no covers on them. The 'yard' was full of piled up junk, like a trailer with two flat tires, a dilapidated sail boat, stacks of rotten wood, two burn barrels, old fire hoses, just to name a few. There was no grass in the yard but plenty of stinging nettles and other thorny weeds. there were doorknobs falling off or missing mounting hardware. Stairs were poorly built with gaps under the risers. There are many other things wrong with this property, but the topper was the 5 foot black snake that decided to come into the living room and join the family there.
I submitted a complaint with VRBO, never heard from them except an email telling me that somone named Crystal has closed the case. I also complained to the owner and never heard a peep from him either. For the $3000.00+ we paid to stay there you would think the place could be in good working order.
BTW -
We found a couple of pages of notes, presumably from the owner, for someone named Eddie to complete a few of the repairs. Apparently Eddie didn't bother to complete his "To Do" list.
We loved our stay here. My husband and I brought our adult daughter and her husband for a quick fall get away. We had a great time at this property. I would describe it a classic beach house style with the perks of a dock. The dock was awesome. We caught crabs in the traps that were there and a variety of fish. They have a variety of yard games and a very nice and clean above ground pool, as well. I personally loved their put put golf holes(3). And we all enjoyed the Ladder Toss game. The only negative is some maintenance was needed on the back porch balcony. But it did look like they were beginning to start replace some boards already. It was conveniently close to gulf shores at about 12 min drive. But also close to our favorite eat joint, Tacky Jacks 2 in Fort Morgan at about 13 minute drive. There was also a dollar general 2 minutes west or 4 minutes east. The neighborhood was quiet and everyone was very friendly. Such a hidden gem!
