Settle yourself into this typical 300 year old French traditional town house, with large comfortable rooms furnished with antique and vintage furniture. Providing very flexible accommodation. Recent changes to the house layout now means extra accomodation with up to 14 guests.
The main suite on first floor consisting of very large lounge with alcove housing comfortable double bed. Double curtains provide complete privacy Room is sympathetically furnished with three large sofas and several lounge chairs. Lounge has restored vintage wallpaper on walls. Then a walk through to modern shower room .
On the same floor there is a dining/family room with large dining table and quality bed settee for further guests. Large oak dressers provide everything necessary for dining and entertaining. Large 40 inch TV on wall with UK TV and radio plus French TV. From the this room you can access the large balcony looking towards the church and the valley. Table, chairs and parasol to relax with your favourite beverage,
The kitchen is also accessed from this room, a typical French kitchen with small kitchen table, chairs, double sink, gas cooker, dishwasher and fridge. Extremely well equipped kitchen. Top floor of house has an additional four bedrooms and two bathrooms. This accommodation is large, approx 200 square metres, providing luxury, French style, over three floors with plenty of space
The ground floor provides access to private walled garden with barbeque plus table and chairs for alfresco dining. Under balcony area with comfortable cane furniture to relax in after a long day. We ask you to respect local residents and keep noise to a reasonable level and quiet after midnight.
Laundry room also on ground floor with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, ironing board etc.

This property has been sympathetically restored in the traditional style in the centre of Bellac. The property was spotlessly clean. Was very comfortable and very tastefully furnished. Both Steve and Sue were wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble.
A good selection of restaurants, bars and cafes within easy walking distance.
The property still has other rooms to be restored.
Would have no hesitation to recommend to a friend.

Thank you for your kind review and as you state there are other rooms to finish but could we clarify that these rooms are on another floor of the house and in no way affect anyone staying in the house as is. The work will start in November 2017 and will then give us a rental property that could sleep up to ten people, in five bedrooms with three bathrooms.

Grande maison mais quelques déceptions
La maison est vraiment spacieuse et nous a permis d'être à l'aise pour 6 adultes, 3 enfants et 2 bébés. La décoration est effectivement charmante.
Nous avons par contre été déçus par plusieurs points :
- beaucoup de portes ne ferment pas, dommage lorsqu'on est avec des enfants en bas âge et qu'il y a un escalier central qui donne sur toutes les pièces (maison de 2 étages)
- le jardin (assez petit, en gazon synthétique) est au rez-de-chaussée et la cuisine est à l'étage : pas très pratique pour manger dehors ;
- La cuisine n'est pas totalement adaptée pour cuisiner pour 12 personnes (pas assez de couverts, matériel défraichis, pas de cafetière filtre..) par contre le four est grand, le lave vaisselle est bien fonctionnel. Le frigo de l'étage est petit mais un plus grand est au rez-de-chaussée.
- les fenêtres sont anciennes et isolent peu du bruit de la rue qui peut déranger le sommeil des vacanciers.
- le linge de lit est inclus mais l'hôte m'a demandé 7.5€ par lit pour le lavage des draps a cause du covid... (finalement pas payés, car pas inscrit dans l'annonce)
- le ménage est inclus, mais il y a tout de même de la poussière notamment sous les lits et en hauteur, on s'en rend compte quand on veut poser nos affaires dans les chambres. Il nous a fallu relaver des verres, saladiers, etc. avant utilisation.
Bref maison convenable, joliment décorée, mais pas assez fonctionnelle, ni assez "luxueuse" par rapport au prix payé. Attention d'ailleurs le prix est affiché en euros mais il faut régler en livres. Ma banque facture des frais supplémentaires pour un virement hors zone euro.

Thank you for your review, however there are certain points I wish to clarify. First, all doors do close, except the one you damaged. This is now repaiired at no cost to you. The house is a 400 year old town house with a central staircase and yes some windows are not new. but in good condition. The garden is obviously on the ground floor, is enclosed and safe for children and the kitchen, as advertised is on the first floor. There is a balcony for outside refreshment also on the first floor with wonderful views across the valley. A filter coffee machine is in the kitchen cupboard. Regarding the cost of rental, without the two babies included calculates out at 24 Euros per person per night. (excluding VRBO booking fees etc). We did not charge you for laundry as we admitted we had made an error as on other sites we do publish this charge.
I hope this clarifys things and as we said despite the weather we hope the small problems you now mention after leaving did not affect your holiday.

One note please - in future if anyone is bringing a dog please inform us before arrival. We normal have a charge for pets also, as shown in our terms and conditions.

A wonderful gite with stunning views
Had a fantastic, relaxing time in this wonderful gite - thank you.
The accommodation was bigger than we expected, is very traditional, yet has all the mod cons you need. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the showers fantastic, with plenty of hot water. The highlight has to be the amazing views across the town / river; we loved sitting on the balcony with our cheese and wine, taking it all in - just perfect.
Steve and Sue were lovely - there if we needed them, but not intrusive in any way. Gave us lots of hints and tips on the best places to visit etc., and were really accommodating when we asked if we could stay on an extra couple of hours past check out time.
Can't wait to come back next year!

Fantastic
Bellac is beautiful! Steve and Sue met us on our arrival and showed us around , unbelievable views ! Lovely garden, nice and quite, you can hear a pin drop at night.The property itself is spacious, with the balcony the perfect place to sit in the morning for breakfast looking at the views!

A week in Bellac
The property is full of character with great views across the valley from the back windows. It is very well equipped and charmingly furnished, and parking was easy. Sue and Steve were welcoming and really helpful. It provided everything we needed and lots more. Highly recommended.

We moved to France in 2006 to open a restaurant which we ran successfully for over ten years. After selling we spent a year renovating our Gite to the highest standard. We love living in Bellac and our two children are also French residents.
Why they chose this property
We have the perfect situation here with a large town house on the edge of town but with a rural feel also. Bellac is a wonderful location for everything you need, travel wise, amenities, entertainment and relaxation, that's why we fell in love with it. During our time in France we have stayed in many Gites all over the country and have learnt much, that is why we believe our Gite is one of the most unique and best equipped that you will discover.
What makes this property unique
The superb views from the balcony, totally private use of the house, walled secluded garden and flexible accommodation. All amenities close by, no need for a car. Spacious flexible accommodation suitable for 2 - 14 people. What ever size group you will not be sharing this property or the garden. We do not accept party's on the premises
