Fabulous 12th Century château apartment in Provence

The Keep is a fantastic, self-catering property dating back to the 12th century and forming part of the ancient ramparts of the charming village of Bargemon, in the Haut-Var region of Provence. Sleeping up to four guests, The Keep is one of only a handful of apartments in Bargemon’s beautiful château, and enjoys shared use of the stunning château gardens, swimming pool and tennis court. Right in the heart of the village, with its flowing fountains and bustling squares, The Keep is perfect for those looking for peace and tranquility, who also want a taste of local village life. All your daily shopping can be done in the village itself, and there is also a great little selection of restaurants, cafés and museums to enjoy.

The incredible gardens are the jewel in The Keep’s crown. A fabulous all weather tennis court and practice wall, beautiful swimming pool, boules pitch and acres of olive grove provide a wonderful backdrop for a truly relaxing holiday.

You really can while away whole days in the garden, but if you do want to venture further afield, Bargemon is also an excellent base from which to explore all that the region has to offer. There are several hiking and cycling trails that pass through the village itself, and a number of spectacular golf courses and water sports within a short drive of the village. Activities for our more intrepid guests include: rock climbing, gorge-walking, paragliding, skiing, kayaking and horse riding, whilst those simply looking to unwind may prefer an afternoon of wine tasting, or an excursion to the coast.

What a setup - we didn't want to leave!

The Keep is a really comfortable property and we loved the setting within gorgeous Bargemon village. The chateau gardens are obviously a highlight - recently resurfaced tennis court and stunning pool. We had a fantastic holiday and hope to return.

Wij hebben met ontzettend veel plezier een week in the Keep geslapen. De faciliteiten die bij the Keep horen zijn geweldig (20 meter bad) en alles is op loopafstand, ook de winkels en restaurantjes. Top!

Einzigartig und traumhaft schön

Die Gartenanlage mit Pool und Tennisplatz sind absolut einzigartig. Die Wohnung ist wunderbar geschmackvoll eingerichtet ohne überladen zu sein, schlichte Schlafzimmer mit liebevollen Details und guten Betten, sogar das Schlafsofa war sehr bequem. Einzig die Fliegengitter müssten ein bisschen überholt werden, ansonsten ist die Einrichtung sehr gut und alles ist vorhanden. Das Dorf ist sehr charmant und lebendig, die Unterkunft aber trotzdem ruhig, da sie am Dorfrand liegt. Die anderen Gäste mit denen man Pool und Tennisplatz teilte waren sehr nett, unsere Kinder konnten auch mal gemeinsam Wasserspiele oder Tennismatches bestreiten. Sehr gute Restauranttipps im Dorf von Amelia und Tobey, unbedingt ausprobieren, besonders La Campana! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Ideal for a week away from the crowd

The Keep was ideal for 2 couples for a week. 2 bedrooms upstairs with very comfortable double beds. Good sized sitting & TV room upstairs as well. Downstairs a well equipped roomy kitchen and dining room where we spent a lot of time. From the dining room a french door leads to a bistro table on the pavement. Not really suitable for 4. What more than makes up for this is the lovely communal swimming pool area with a very well maintained garden and spectacular views. Especially in summer a real delight. Bergamon is a off the beaten track beautiful authentic french village complete with a lively town square and beautiful fountains. We were impressed by a little bistro nearby. Very good food and reasonably priced. We had a wonderful stay.
