About this property
2 Bed in Lynton (oc-trelyn)
Tree Tops is situated in a beautiful, tranquil, sheltered wooded valley within Exmoor National Park. This delightful cottage nestles on the side of the West Lyn Valley in the pretty hamlet of Lynbridge. From the cottage the sound of the river flowing towards the sea at Lynmouth is a constant back drop to the beautiful surrounding countryside. From the terrace there are views into the valley above where deer are regular visitors on the horizon. Lynton is just a 10 minute walk away along the pedestrian Lyn Way. This is a beautiful walk providing spectacular views over Lynmouth, the stunning sea cliffs and out to sea. The popular village of Lynton provides a wide choice of individual shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Immediate local amenities include a quaint 17th Century Inn just 200 yds away on the banks of the river which specialises in beer brewed on the premises and Thai food. There is also a Garage and stores nearby in Barbrook.
Tree Tops has been recently refurbished to provide a very comfortable home from home with a mixture of original character and contemporary modern style. It is a charming, detached, period cottage dating from 1850. Access to the cottage is through a gate off a quiet lane with no through traffic. On the ground floor an attractive living room overlooks the valley and offers two comfy sofas surrounding a woodburner in original inglenook. A stable door opens onto a stone terrace perched above the tranquil and sheltered terraced garden. The garden is secluded and a wonderful place to relax. Due to the terraced nature of the garden, care should be taken with young children. A new fully equipped kitchen/diner has all you will need to prepare meals and opens out onto a private sheltered patio ideal for alfresco dining and breakfast. Stairs to the first floor divide into two areas. Two bedrooms with lovely valley views are located on one side and a spacious beamed ceiling bathroom with stripped wooden flooring on the other.
Surrounded by the splendour of Exmoor, the cottage is a short drive, exhilarating walk or funicular train journey to the coastal village of Lynmouth with its picturesque harbour and wide range of Inns and restaurants. Footpaths offering truly inspiring riverside, country and coastal walks are all literally on your doorstep. This is an ideal base for those who wish to explore this wonderful part of Exmoor by foot, horseback (riding stables are close by) or by car. Magnificent sea cliffs and hidden sand and shingle coves can be found all along the dramatic Exmoor coast. Also nearby are green canopied walks to Watersmeet, the Valley of the Rocks, Doone Valley and Woody Bay.
For those looking for sand the renowned safe wide sandy surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton (also with a championship golf course) are all within a 45 minutes drive.
