A gorgeous place

What a delightful cottage in a stunning setting by the river. Absolutely loved waking up and going to sleep to the sound of the water streaming by. The cottage was spotlessly clean and superbly well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing week. Lovely walks from the door and even more within short drives away. Will be coming back for sure.

Lovely lowland escape

We used the cottage as a base when spending a week away with our two children aged 7 and 9. There are lovely local walks from the door and/or a short drive away at Black Esk reservoir, which is also good for leisurely mountain biking on forest roads. We also used a couple of the local 7stanes mountain biking facilities (30 mins drive), visited the beach at Rockcliffe/Kippford (1hr) and spent a day at Threave Gardens and nature reserve (also 1hr). The property itself is bigger than it looks on the pictures and we found there was plenty of room for us. Everything we needed was there, the hygiene/covid protocols were unobtrusive, beds comfy, outside space more than ample for us to relax. Parking right next to the door, storage for bikes, inside or outside dining. The owners were great - and really succeeded on giving us our privacy but also being there if/when we needed. One of the best overall rentals we have ever experienced.

Superb top spec house in a beautiful location, great place to stay for a holiday base with excellent hosts. Some lovely goodies provided as a welcome treat and everything you would need is provided for in the house. Hope to return and will be recommending the property.
