About this property

The Cotswolds - The Lodge - Grade II listed cottage in the centre of Burford

The lovely town of Burford occupies a position on the meandering River Windrush. Burford is built on a fairly steep hill, and the view from the top of the hill looking down the High Street to the river is one of the classic panoramas of the Cotswolds. A lovely 4-arched medieval bridge, widened in the 18th century, crosses the Windrush, and though Burford itself does not occupy the northern bank, a walk across the bridge is rewarded by wonderful views across watermeadows to the spire of St. John the Baptist parish church.
152 The Hill has been completed renovated and now offers 5 individual holiday homes, The Lodge is one of them, all five properties can be all be rented if you would like, family Christmas, special occasions, the whole property will sleep up to 23, but you will all have your individual space, please see, 8379755, 6977567, 8379757, 8379754, and please contact us for details.
The Lodge is a two bedroom cottage, with one bathroom with a bath shower, it can sleep up to 4 people, the bedrooms have there own style, the first bedroom has a king size bed, with a window looking out over Burford High Street and over the roofs to the church and the valley. The second bedroom has two single beds. Large open plan living, kitchen, dining area and a sitting room with TV

A communal garden can be found at the back of the property, it is lawned and is available to all guests that are staying at 152 The Hill. When you step outside the property, you are metres away from a newsagent, a butcher, a deli, a chemist, restaurants, pubs, a little further down is the Co-op shop. It is a brilliant place to stay as a base to explore the Cotswolds, with many places to visit.

Bibury - 10 minutes, the famous Arlington Row and Bibury trout farm
Bourton-on-the-Water 15 minutes,- regularly voted one of the prettiest village in England, Birdland Park and Gardens and The Model Village
Oxford 30 minutes – what can we say – full of history, Universities, beautiful buildings, museums, the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers and many others, plus of course theatres.
Upper and Lower Slaughter 20 Minutes – ‘a wander alongside the stream seems like a privilege.’
Stow on the Wold 25 minutes - At one end stands the ancient cross, and at the other the town stocks, shaded between an old elm tree.
Broadway 35 minutes - the village also has an interesting artistic heritage which includes some well known artists, writers, and performing artists such as William Morris, John Singer Sargent, Francis D Millet, J.M. Barrie and Mary Anderson.
Stratford-upon-Avon 45 minutes – the home of Shakespeare and theatres
Bath – 60 minutes – known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Honey-coloured Bath stone has been used extensively in the town’s architecture, including at Bath Abbey, noted for its fan-vaulting, tower and large stained-glass windows. The museum at the site of the original Roman-era Baths includes The Great Bath, statues and a temple.
Cheltenham 30 minutes – race course, architecture and shopping
Cotswold Wildlife Park – 5 minutes

Fab location!

Great little house in heart of Burford! Would have been nice to have some extra logs as only 6 logs provided for 2 night stay - over very cold few days. Also there was a lots of dust and cobwebs (dust on headboard and plenty behind bedside tables).

Fabulous location and lovely apartment

This was a great place to stay to visit the Cotswolds. The apartment was really comfortable and had all you needed. We enjoyed our welcome basket of goodies-thanks ! Being on the Main Street was busy but everything was close. Our host’s instructions were very clear and we had a fabulous stay. We would highly recommend staying here.

It’s a great location and the house is good for experiencing Burford and local area. Sweet cottage and kind touches by the owners. The biggest issue is that there are not proper duvets and covers on any of the beds. Rather these synthetic quilted covers and synthetic pillow cases and the mattress in the master bedroom needs replacing so not a good night sleep. If it wasn’t for that we would stay again.

Located in the beautiful town of Burford. Loved the place! It is an authentic, old style cottage. The property host was very responsive. The Lodge is located on the street side of the property, along a very busy street and can be quite noisy with traffic noise. We kinda wished we had booked “The Cottage” which is further set back within the same overall property. Parking is a challenge as the town is busy and the 24 hour spaces in front of the property get grabbed quickly. The host left us with a lovely collection of “welcome treats” (milk, bread, butter, jam, prosecco, cupcakes), which was wonderful and odd at the same time. Odd because despite these extras, some standard items that are normally provided with VRBO’s were not (shampoo, soap, adequate toilet paper).

We adored this space so much! There is so much history in the Costwalds and to stay in an original building is a true treat. It feels like you're back in Shakespearean times! The hosts are phenomenal and leave you champagne, yummy bread, delicious butter, homemade jam, and pastries! It just does not get better than that! You are in the heart of Burford with this location and can walk to anything and everything including a grocery store, cheese shop, baker and pastry place. I highly recommend renting here! Thank you so much Tom and Sally!

Another fantastic stay in Burford

Great location, although you do get traffic noise in the main bedroom but you expect that from roadside cottages. Great facilities and layout.beds could benefit by having a firmer mattress but didn’t spoil our stay, we would definitely recommend and will definitely return. Love Burford!

Lovely Cotswolds apartment

Beautiful apartment in the centre of Burford. Kitchen was overall well equipped apart from cleaning spray and no instructions for using appliances. The log burner was great but no matches provided but owners did pop by and apologized for lack of wood etc .. Apartment was generally really clean apart from a slightly rusty bath bar and slight mould forming on rubber bath mat. The welcome gifts of homemade bread and cakes and a bottle of champagne AND essentials like milk, butter tea coffee and sugar were unexpected and a lovely surprise. Parking outside was the only issue if you were unlucky enough to be unable to find a 24 hour space but we were lucky to find one otherwise it's a bit of a struggle to park unless you use the car park at the bottom of the hill. Overall a great apartment with the added bonus of a peaceful garden behind the apartment which is shared with other residents. Would definitely recommend it as a base to explore the beautiful Cotswolds. Plenty of nice friendly pubs too, would recommend the Cotswold arms which has live bands on the weekends.
