About this property

Stunning Artist School Borough market Shard view London Bridge Bankside SE1

Artist school Borough market
The Redroom is a well kept secret, a huge (1400sq ft) and lovingly crafted apartment in the Borough London Bridge A true bohemian hideaway in a private location in central London in the shadow of the shard and quite unlike anything you will have experienced before London Bridge stations a 3min walk Borough market food, the river, the shard, the great history! This undiscovered space utterly satisfies the imaginative who want to privacy, security, comfort, peace and quiet. Designed to stimulate the mind.

The space is one huge high ceiling-ed room - a rich playground of curious antique objects and rich textures with big studio windows creating a haven of light and warmth. There is a wonderful freestanding copper bath next to the bed as well as a separate modernist shower room. Things in the Red Room are not what they seem - a chest of drawers becomes a staircase to a secret cupboard. A floor to ceiling mirror is the door to a polished plaster bathroom. A collection of cupboards and tables conceals an extraordinary Parisian kitchen. The Red Room challenges preconceptions of what is possible. It is a fantastical space like no other in the heart of old London. A bespoke serviced stay is available - from shopping, laundry and hair cutting to acupuncture and meridian massage.

This is a fully self contained and private space accessed through the front lobby of an old school building. Guests have their own keys. We ask guests do respect the privacy of the neighbours, as theirs will also be respected.

How to book with me: When you make a booking request, please make sure to include: a) Your full name b) something about you c) what you expect to be doing during your visit d) any special requirements from our concierge service. e) if you are having a guest stay with you, please could you provide their full name and contact details no later than 24hrs before checkin. You will be 3 mins walk to Borough Market (bars, restaurants, riverside walks, cobbled streets and old warehouses) Early check in arriving on the red eye arrive and and go to Borough Market for a monmouth coffee or Spanish breakfast at Brindisa 5-10 mins walk to The Cut (Old Vic, Young Vic, Waterloo Station and the South Bank). The Anchor and Hope which is a local gastropub on The Cut where the food and atmosphere is out of this world, one of AA Gills top five most memorable dishes and a true British experience and highly recommended if you’re looking for local bar scene. 25 mins walk to Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and Red Church Street. 10 mins walk to St Paul’s over the wobbly bridge nxt to Tate Modern 25 to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament on the riverside walk 7 mins to Hyde Park by tube from Southwark station 7 mins to Green Park. Wolsey Ritz and Bond st. 40 mins to the centre of the park a lovely walk along the south side of the embankment passing Shaespears' Globe, Tate Modern, The Sea Containers Mondrian, National Theatre, South Bank Festival Hall, The Hayward Gallery crossing over on Hungerford Bridge, crossing Trafalgar square and along the Mall to Buckingham Palace. St James’s Park starts there and connects to Hyde Park at Hyde Park corner. There's a lot of art going on in surrounding Bankside, Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Bow. There is also a lot of good food of course Borough Market, and loads of new Resturants on Southwark st, Flat Iron Square all along the Southbank walk and Pont de la Tour and St Katherines Dock at Tower Bridge. I am a huge fan of 40 Matlby st for creative tasty modern food or the Anchor and Hope on The Cut, for traditional hearty English food lunchtimes the superb and specialised italians O'ver or Padella at the Borough Market and El Vergal Argentinian and organic on Southwark Bridge Road. You rarely hear a sound from neighbours and at weekends the area is eerily quiet. A perfect hideout in town. Being so close to the river, the South Bank and up to London Bridge and up to under the Shard is quite magical in any weather. Early fog and late balmy evenings and you can be one minute in a crowd and then quite alone Accommodation: The space is really best suited for 1 or 2 people. And is not suitable for children or pets.

Transport journey times: The Heathrow Express Train to Paddington then change to the Underground to Southwark or Blackfriars, or Tube all the way to Green Park and change to the Jubilee Line to London Bridge Less than 3 mins walk to London Bridge Station. 5 mins walk to Southwark tube station. 10mins to Canary Wharf by tube from London Bridge Station. 20mins to Stratford by tube for Westfield shopping mall. 14mins to Greenwich (London maritime history) from London bridge Station. 30 mins by boat to Greenwich and beyond 20 mins to City Airport by Taxi.

For any bookings longer than one week, there will be a extra cleaning charge for each week booked. This will be for £45.00 for each extra week stayed. we are but a 5 min walk to London Bridge or Waterloo mainline stations. Situated away from the London traffic, this is a quiet street within 4.7 hectres of conservation area yet so very well connected. Please note we are not next to or on top of the railway line, as the map flag appears to show but a full street away from the slow approach to London Bridge. Wonderful stay!
This is a wonderful quirky place that makes visiting London so much more fun. Instead of a boring hotel, this place has style, antiques and room to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. Natalie, the host, was there from the beginning to check us in and show us around. She is so friendly and kind. The studio is right next to borough market and I enjoyed jogging along the Thames in the morning- so close to so much. Best part? I enjoyed the acoustics in the bathroom and sung my heart out in the shower. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a more meaningful stay.

Beautiful place in a great location
There is nothing like the apartment! Great feel and light, fun kitchen setup, relaxing space, and the soaking tub was perfect after a long day. Lots to see in the neighborhood- could not ask for more food choices! And close to the tube.

Hi,
Welcome to London, i am a photographer/artist/creative type and guardian of this beautiful old School building. i am not a management company and provide a more personalble service to each guest.
Creativity is something to be practised every day, as part of life - not just in the media you choose to use. this is the approach we have made with these apartments. Borough is amazing - a still rarely untouched part of London - oozing with history and vibrancy.
