About this property

A Luxurious Designer Apartment in the most historic part of central London.

The sitting room is large, comfortable & sunny, furnished with a beautiful Italian sofa, leather armchair and a ‘Noguchi coffee table. This is complimented by a walnut floor, designer lighting and an original restored Victorian warehouse brick wall.
The dining area has a walnut wood dining table and four ‘Eames' chairs.
This leads into the white modern, kitchen with white stone worktops. You will find the kitchen is fully equipped and includes an integrated dishwasher, washing machine / dryer, microwave, fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine but you will need to bring your own (original) pods if you’re big coffee drinkers!

The bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed (often mentioned in reviews!). There is a large modern Italian wardrobe with drawers & plenty of hanging space. The design is completed with a stylish dressing and bedside tables. From this room double doors with a french balcony offer great views of the iconic ‘Shard' building.

The new bathroom has a modern white suite including a large walk in shower with both overhead rainfall and wall mounted shower heads. There is a large heated towel rail and backlit mirror. We provide fresh white towels, luxury shower gel, shampoo / conditioner and liquid hand soap.

Here's some recent guest reviews from another website...
Absolutely beautiful apartment in a perfect location, 4 min walk to a major tube station whilst still being able to feel tucked away out of the rush of everyday London. Jacqui was an excellent host with lots of communication prior to and during the stay, offering advise on places to visit/restaurants to eat at. Already planning a trip back here for next year! George.

The flat manages to be both around the corner from a great food market, close to transport and a short stroll to the Underground. Yet it is quiet and tranquil.
It is perfectly clean, well appointed and quite lovely. I can't imagine it could have been better. The experience was faultless. Thank you. Stephen.

Jacqui's apartment is perfect. Need I say more? Everything from the location to the luxurious furnishings, to the pampering bath gels, to the quiet at night, to the view of the Shard, to its proximity to Borough Market and the Tube. Everything. A great apartment from which to enjoy London. Thank you Jacqui! Shira.

The Neighbourhood...
You will be staying in the best & one of the oldest areas of central London for interesting things to do. A visit to The Shard is a must, the view from the top is spectacular and their restaurants and cocktail bars are fabulous! The New Tate Modern is just down the road, the River Thames with its amazing views and river walk is minutes away and access to Covent Garden and Oxford Street is easy.
The Boot & Flogger Wine Bar is downstairs and can be accessed through the Courtyard and from the road. It has great food and is an atmospheric, traditional city wine bar. It closes at 11 and has a quiet clientele.
There are hundreds of restaurants on your door step including Brindisa (delicious Tapas), The Wright Brothers (famous for its' Seafood), Elliott's (a quirky but delicious menu) all in Borough Market, just minutes away. By the River near Tower Bridge is the famous Pont de la Tour & The Chop House plus several lovely restaurants - the list in endless! We recommend searching for a complete list of choices & reviews in Trip Advisor or Time Out restaurant guide on-line.

Access to the apartment -Please read before booking...
Normal check-in time is from 4pm, if the flat is available we are happy to accommodate an early check-in. We can receive guests between 8.30am - 10.30pm, if you need to arrive outside of this time period please enquire if we can meet you before you book.

You access the property using a fob key through big, secure, double external doors leading into a pretty cobbled courtyard. The same fob accesses another door on the left, which takes you up two flights of stairs to our apartment. There isn't a lift, but the stairs are manageable.

Getting around....
London Bridge tube station is a couple of minutes walk away. Buses & Taxis run regularly along Southwark Street around the corner from the apartment. Waterloo Station for British Rail is a 15 minute walk away, London Bridge British rail is 5 minutes walk and the river boats that run along the Thames are nearby.

Amazing

My husband and I spent 4 days at Jacqui's apartment. It was the perfect location, and had everything you could need for our stay. Loved having a fan in the bedroom for airflow and noise buffering. The contact with Jacqui was great and she made sure we got in okay and enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!!! We will be back for sure!

London

Beautiful property, very clean and inviting. Oliver and Hose from Boots and Flagger were very helpful. We are 74 and 80 year old couple. Very hard to navigate stairs, Oliver helped us get our luggage up the very steep and narrow stairs. We enjoyed our stay. Bedding was very comfortable. Thank you for making our stay in London so comfortable.

Perfect Location

The condition of the property was perfect. Even better, if possible, was its location, situated just steps from Borough Market, itself steps from the London Bridge Underground station, and the city of London, please before you see within a mile or so. Should I be visiting London again, I will certainly check for availability before looking elsewhere. It is located on the quiet side street, over a restaurant that is absolutely worth a try while you are there.

A MUST STAY PROPERTY

I could not say enough about this property. It is located in the most convenient area next to anything and everything you would like to do. Public transportation is close and the street itself has deep roots in the history of London. Our host was kind, helpful and communicative! I recommend if you come to London you stay here! The flat is comfortable with all the accommodations that you need and views that are unbelievable.

Lovely apartment, great location!

This apartment is charming, updated beautifully, very comfortable. Excellent kitchen appliances; terrific bathroom shower! Views of the Shard from various windows!! This apartment is perfectly located as 'home base' for our 2-week London Christmas stay: just minutes away from the amazing Borough Market, Southwark Cathedral, various shops, cafés, grocery stores, pubs, tube stations. Even Tate Modern & St. Paul's was well within walking distance! We've stayed in various London neighborhoods over the years, & this one is our favorite. Access to the host was easy & excellent; & the apartment is at least as good a represented on VRBO. We highly recommend this apartment & location at any time of year.

An overall great apartment

My husband and I enjoyed our 13 day stay in this apartment. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The only problem we had with the kitchen is that the stove would not recognize our little Italian coffee pot, and, therefore, we lugged our coffee pot, our foamer and our coffee for naught. We’ve never encountered that type of stove before so didn’t realize it would be a problem. The 42 stairs are not a problem, but we were coming home on the Queen Mary II and had 5 suitcases (much more than normal due to elegant evening attire) and the stairs are not only very narrow; they are very angular. So, it was very difficult for us to maneuver our luggage up and down the stairs. This should not be a problem under normal circumstances. I wound be very careful using the hooks by the front door as one fell off when I hung my raincoat in it and the screw that fell out was very short. All in all, it was a wonderful apartment, the pub around the corner stores luggage, which was a godsend and the area (London Bridge underground stop) is great. We loved Borough Market and The George ((one of London’s oldest & best) is nearby. We wound not hesitate to return to this apartment. Thank you, Jacqui. For our lovely stay.

Location location location. This is the perfect place to stay in London. The apartment is clean and a comfortable. The bed marvelous. The bed sizes in USA and UK are different. What is considered a king in UK is actually a queen in USA. This made absolutely no difference to us whatsoever as the bed is amazing...but it was interesting to learn about this difference. The London Bridge station is only a few blocks away. The Boot and Flogger is very, very good. And I was surprised how quiet this place is. There is also plenty to do in the immediate area: Borough Market, Shard, restaurants galore. Our only heads up is the stairs are narrow and winding. This made carrying our luggage up a bit challenging.

We had a fabulous eight night stay at Jacqui’s lovely apartment. It was great to be so close to the Borough Market & also very close to the underground to access other areas of London. The apartment was in a very quiet area & was easy to find. We arrived late on a Sunday & Jacqui was very helpful in organising our check in. We would definitely stay her again.

This was a wonderful flat in the shadows of Borough Market. Its very clean and comfortable. I didn't need anything from the owner, but if I did, I believe she would have been very helpful. The nearby tube station also made getting around town a breeze. I'd definitely book again.

London South Bank Flat

Great location just a block from Borough Market - with lots of restaurants and other food options close by. Convenient train and tube access to the West End and elsewhere in Central London. Great for walking along the river on the South Bank. Very nice flat on a quiet street. Very much enjoyed my stay - but note that it is a walk up on the US second floor, so be prepared if you have a heavy suitcase.

About the host

Hosted by Jacqui Elliott

Host profile image
I grew up in both the UK and Sydney, Australia. I married my husband Paul in '93 and we have 2 daughters. We live in the Kent countryside in a Regency house with our wonderful black Labrador and 2 cats!
We like to renovate properties and I love interior design and have my own company.
I hope you enjoy our apartment and find it very comfortable and relaxing whilst you’re here.

Why they chose this property

The central location is perfect to discover London and all it’s beautiful attractions.
Our building is a converted Victorian warehouse and has some lovely features, which we managed to highlight whilst refurbishing.
The river is nearby with ferry’s and tour boats to take you along to some of the most iconic sites in the world. It’s a particularly lovely place to be in the summer. This is one of the oldest spots in London where you can enjoy this lively atmosphere but Get peace and quiet just around the corner on our street.

What makes this property unique

The view from our windows of The Shard is amazing, it's so close! It's a minute or two's walk to the fabulous Borough Market, the largest food market in the UK. Plus this area is the oldest area of London, full of history...it's like walking around in a Charles Dickens novel.
