About this property

This sumptuous Greenhouse East Condominium Home was once the secret getaway for famous Hollywood icon, Greta Garbo and her love interest, Gayelord Hauser. The 2 love birds would sneak away from the public eye to "hide" here for some relaxation and privacy.

This renovated Garbo property features two large en-suite bedrooms as well as a Den/TV Room (formerly the 3rd bedroom) with a large private patio / courtyard .

The living room features a recessed wet bar, a very comfy sofa and two chairs and views of both patios. The antique, dining table seats six and is adjacent to the living room, galley kitchen and second patio.

On the very private main patio, there is a large Jacuzzi, an outdoor gas grill and an umbrella table which also seats 6. The smaller patio is off the kitchen and is perfect for an outdoor massage or a fresh breeze during a nice meal.

The exterior of this home has a Southwestern feel while the interior is decorated with exquisite taste featuring quality artwork and furniture pieces. You will also find vintage photos and drawings of Greta Garbo throughout and several books and articles of her life for your reading pleasure.

The Greenhouse East offers a large common pool, Jacuzzi, open green space and stunning mountain views. Common ground tennis courts are available for use. It's also within easy, walking distance to Downtown Palm Springs and the Casino (about 10 minutes).

I reside in San Diego, California and have lived there for over 25 years. I am originally from Los Angeles, California and relocated in 1995 to start my career. I have always loved Palm Springs and would frequent the vibrant city for weekends and extended vacations. My parents also met in Palm Springs in the 1960s. After buying this home and experiencing the peace and calming nature of Palm Springs, I felt that I could share the experience with others.

Why they chose this property

I chose this home because I have always been intrigued with old Hollywood. When I purchased the condo, I had to be personally walked into the property by the heirs of Greta Garbo and Gayelord Hauser for the property still had all of Greta Garbo's furnishings in it. Knowing that Hollywood royalty had also found this condo of interest, I knew I had to be on to something special. I loved the feeling of this complex for it so close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Palm Springs, but when you want your downtime you are just 10 minutes away from privacy and serenity.

What makes this property unique

Every room has access to the private patio. The patio is very private and has lovely views of the gorgeous mountain range. Plus, who doesn't want to sleep where Greta Garbo once stayed?
