About this property

Mahonia Cottage, Burnham Market, Norfolk

Mahonia Cottage is a wonderfully spacious link-detached cottage situated in a quiet area away from the main village green of Burnham Market, yet close enough to walk to fabulous local shops, pubs and eateries. This hideaway is child and dog friendly, and boasts added advantage of private parking.

The cottage itself is very light and bright, and has been newly decorated throughout. There is plenty of reception space with a large south-facing conservatory, a wonderful open-plan dining kitchen, a cosy sitting room with comfy sofas and a wood-burning stove; also underfloor heating to the ground floor (excluding the conservatory). Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (the master is en-suite) and a delightful twin bedroom with full-size single beds and a unusual arched window. The cottage is practical, stylish and tastefully furnished throughout with lots of extra little details to give guests a comfortable and enjoyable visit whatever time of year.

The garden is south facing and fully enclosed, safe for dogs and children. A gate leads into the parking area at the back of the cottage, where there are two parking spaces for the cottage, a real bonus in this busy village. In fact the location is just perfect - tucked down a quiet lane off the main road, yet just a short walk from the park, play area, tennis courts and all the amenities the village has to offer.

Additional Information:
Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge)
Pillows and duvets are synthetic fibre
Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot.

Easter half term April 2022

We really enjoyed the our stay at Mahonia cottage. The cottage offers good clean accomodation which feels cosy and comfortable but spacious enough too. Layout is very good and flows well. Kitchen is a tad dated but fully functional.Bedrooms fresh and comfy. Highlight was the south facing conservatory which was a joy to be in. Parking is off road and convenient with two good sized spaces at the back. It is worth noting the cottage is located across the road from a Gulf petrol station but this is easy to forget when inside the attractive cottage, particularly the lovely conservatory. Only downside was the welcome pack which was limited to just 4 dishwasher tabs and no milk!

Lovely family mini break

Lovely cottage, great rooms and space, parking, decor and sundries/equipment provided. Great location for a short walk into Burnham market village. Lovely park playground on the playing fields nearby for our little one. Great location as base for exploring the coast. Only small point of note is the stairgate at bottom of stairs not very robust and no stairgate at the top of the stairs is a bit tricky with a toddler upstairs.

Burnham Msrket break

Great location with good sized, bedrooms and kitchen diner. Great little enclosed garden for the dogs. We found the downstairs living area a bit cramped for 4 adults with not enough comfortable seats. Don't know where 6 people would sit but it was a cold weekend so in better weather you could make more use of the conservatory. The open fire was lovely, especially during the power cut on our first evening!

Mahonia Cottage, Burnham Market

A nice little cottage in a great location. Well equipped and nicely furnished. A few problems. Fridge freezer was faulty, not chilling things sufficiently and the large oven did not work at all. The keys in door locks did not work making locking up to go out very difficult.

Very nice holiday home.

A lovely cosy holiday home, clean and comfortable, very well equipped with everything we needed. Great location, beautiful county and within easy reach of many interesting places. Our dog enjoyed the small but fully enclosed gardens.

Nice cottage on outskirts of Burnham Market

Mahonia cottage is a lovely, practical cottage for families. Clean and a good layout, close to a small shop and park. Not too far to walk into Burnham Market. Good value for money.

Birthday treat

We had a wonderful week celebrating with our daughter who turned thirty during our stay. We and our guests had spent many happy times in the area as children so it was a joy to return to Burnham Market. A very big bonus to the property is the conservatory, warm and sunny even on cooler days. We hope to return to the property again.

Mahonia Cottage - Stunning :-)

Our group of 6 and 2 dogs absolutely loved Mahonia Cottage - great location, very clean, well equipped kitchen and secure garden. Areas for improvement - have a shower in the main bathroom, as one shower between 6 isn't always enough. Update the photos on the website, as we felt they didn't do the property justice - it's so much better in the flesh!
