Situated in an enviable position overlooking Wootton Creek, Kipper Cottage offers comfortable, beautifully presented accommodation for up to four guests. Kipper Cottage is just a 10-minute drive from Wightlink's Fishbourne ferry terminal (from Portsmouth). Alternatively, Red Funnel's vehicle ferry arrives at East Cowes, approximately 15–20 minutes away by car.
Local Area
East Cowes is renowned for Osborne House, the former home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, as well as Osborne Golf Course, a marina, heritage centre and a range of leisure activities.
For those who enjoy walking, Firestone Copse is close by. This attractive woodland is noted for its diverse tree species, from oak to towering Grand Fir. Well-marked trails wind through the forest and lead down to the peaceful waters of Wootton Creek.
Nearby, the tranquil Benedictine monastery at Quarr Abbey welcomes visitors to its tea garden for lunch or afternoon tea, using locally produced ingredients made by the monks themselves. The Visitor Centre offers insight into monastic life, hosts exhibitions by local artists, and includes a farm shop where you can even purchase food to feed the resident pigs.
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway provides a wonderful day out, with vintage steam train rides from Wootton to Havenstreet. Facilities include a discovery centre, museum, café and children's play area.
The Victorian seaside town of Ryde is approximately 15 minutes' drive away. As the Island's second largest town, it boasts a long sandy beach stretching from Ryde to Appley and on to Puckpool. Ryde offers a wide range of attractions, including a bowling alley, ice rink, mini funfair and boating lake with pedalo hire in summer.
