About this property
Beachcomber's Cottage-Private Lake Superior beach retreat+30 min Pictured Rocks!
THE COTTAGE SURROUNDINGS
Located on the shores of Lake Superior in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Beachcomber's Cottage is nestled in a private woodsy setting. With the property extending undeveloped on both sides, the cottage is surrounded only by the whispering of tall stately pines. An ample parking area provides space to unload your kayak or canoe from your vehicle.
Just a short walk down a cobblestone path leads you to the expansive 450 feet of private sugar-sand beach with the fresh clear waters of Lake Superior stretching out before you.
With no nearby neighbors and no highway crossing to access the beach, it’s just the spot for your summer vacation – to lounge in your beach chair, take an invigorating swim, or stroll down the beach collecting rocks and driftwood. And it’s perfect for an autumn getaway, where the fall colors are vibrant and spectacular, the air crisp and clear.
THE LOCALE
The Beachcomber’s Cottage is conveniently located along scenic highway M-28 between Marquette and Munising. Just 26 miles east is the wild and stunning PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL LAKESHORE, located at Munising, where you can hike above the cliffs, kayak along the shoreline, or relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the ever-popular Pictured Rocks Cruise. Just an easy 30 minute drive takes you to a day of adventure at America’s first National Lakeshore.
And only 15 miles west of the cottage are all the conveniences of Marquette, with its charming and historic downtown, filled with local restaurants, breweries, and shops, lending the perfect spot to unwind and stroll along the harbor.
You can use the cottage for a starting point to enjoy the many hiking and bicycle trails in the area, or head out on day trips to explore the Upper Peninsula. Wherever your adventures take you, the Beachcomber’s Cottage is your perfect “home base.”

About the host
Hosted by Paula W

Hello! And welcome to the Beachcomber's Cottage! I am a Yooper - an Upper Peninsula native, born and raised in Marquette. My family had the cottage built, and for years we would spend Wednesday evenings and all of our weekends enjoying the peace and serenity of the north woods and the ever-changing moods of Lady Lake Superior. As an adult, with the many responsibilities it brings, my time at the cottage has become limited. While I'm not there, I decided to share the experience with others and make it available to you. Once you arrive you will hear the sounds of breezes in the tall pines, and as you walk down the path to the beach, hear the waves lapping on the sandy shore. Kick off your shoes, take a deep breath, and relax. You are welcome here to just enjoy.
