Beautiful, romantic and recently restored detached stone cottage, situated in extensive gardens bordering a stream.
The house is cosy, and perfect for two with a galleried bedroom, although there is a further single bedroom too reached via the main bedroom. This single room then leads to the shower room. There is a log fire, terracotta tiled floors, and beamed ceilings throughout. There is also a sofabed downstairs. WIFI .
Possibility to hire SKY package at E25 per week - movies, sports, children's etc. If required, please order on booking to secure. (Please note due to Sky regulations, the SKY package offered is the Italian Sky but the language to sports and movies and many programmes can be changed to English using the remote control).
The kitchen is fully equipped and has a real country feel. Outside, there is a large 500 sq metre garden bordering a trout stream, which is an ideal fishing/swimming spot for both adults and children, an eating terrace with wonderful views, and a BBQ. The Mill boasts a private pool of 9m x 4.5m
A truly rural location but less than 2 km from the nearest village, and 6 km from market town of Castelnuovo with its famous Thursday morning markets. Perfect walking & touring base - Lucca 1 hr; Barga 20 min.; Florence 1 2/4 hr.; coast 1 hr.

A perfect opportunity to explore the real Italy, and holiday away from the madding crowds of popular Tuscany. The area is totally unspoilt and non commercialised, and benefits from fantastic scenery all year round.
Fishing in the area is excellent, or why not swim in the rivers, picnic in the mountain air, watch the local past tomes of bocce and cheese throwing for which the area is famous?
Touring the hundreds of hill top villages where time has stood still, is also a wonderfully relaxing way to pass the day, topped by a glass of wine on the terrace, admiring the views in the evening.
For a townie, day, then Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Barga are not far away, and Castelnuovo with its many restaurants bars, outdoor swimming pool, station and famous market is only a 10 minute drive.

Cuisine: The Garfagnanan cuisine is quite simple, but extremely tasty, with most dishes prepared from the freshest of local ingredients.
Eating out is cheap, since restaurants tend to cater for the locals, and you can easily find a 3 course lunch with local wine, cheeses, and coffee for around E10
Children are very welcome in restaurants...
The only restriction you will find is a lack of menu in some restaurants, but the locals will do their best with sign language!
