Casa Metato is a charming stone cottage that was refurbished a few years ago, using traditional methods and local natural materials. Inside, beamed ceilings and an fireplace create a warm, rustic atmosphere with modern comfort.

The house is set in an elevated position 2 km from the historic medieval village of Castiglione di Garfagnana, offering spectacular views of the Garfagnana valley and the iconic "Uomo Morto" mountain.

Accessed via a narrow country lane, the property features a private gated entrance, around 1,500 square meters of beautifully maintained garden, and a range of outdoor amenities including a BBQ, firepit, pizza oven, hammock, a jacuzzi and a private pool (6.5 x 3.5 m) surrounded by terracotta paving.

Inside, the ground floor includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and utility room. Upstairs, there is a double bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk beds. Spacious porches on both sides of the house provide perfect spots for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.

A perfect cottage in a stunning location.

We had a great stay at this little gem. We’ve never stayed in a cottage as beautiful, complete and comfortable as this one. And the large private swimming pool made it perfect.

Had a wonderful time staying at Gabriele's place. House was nice and the outside area was fantastic. Gabriele and his family were very welcoming. The view was spectacular and we had lots of fun cooking in the pizza oven.

Fantastic vacation rental

The small house is in a secluded spot with fantastic views of Castiglione and the mountains, both from the terrace as well as the bedroom. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi were a really nice addition. The owners welcomed us with traditional food and wine, which was very unexpected but very welcome when we arrived in the late afternoon. They also provided us with a lot of recommendations regarding both restaurants and fun things to do in the area. We highly recommend the house and plan to be back.

Our stay was fantastic. Everything was perfect. The welcome was warm and the landlords very friendly, uncomplicated and helpful. The property is beautiful and leaves nothing to be desired, even if the interior is small and, in our opinion, not really suitable for four adults. But who wants to sit indoors in Tuscany? The outdoor area is very comfortable and well equipped and we had a very good rest. However, a vehicle is necessary. And yes, you can hear the road, but it didn't bother us. We would gladly stay again.

Wonderful Property

We stayed here for one week , from September 9th-16th. When we arrived the owner greeted us, as we were slightly early. He was extremely helpful and the property/views were truly amazing. We could not fault our stay at this property, the weather also helped as it was sunny and warm everyday. Well worth a visit. Locally there are restaurants with amazing food, the owner has a list of recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the restaurant Il Pozzo in one of the local towns

Tuscan holiday

We spent one week in this lovely house and had a great time! The house itself is really cosy and has everything that you need. And the garden with the pool is just perfect for a relaxing holiday. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he answered all of our questions immediately. He also welcomed us very warmly together with bis family. The area around offers a lot to do, for example visiting one of the beautiful villages around, hiking or shopping. All in all we can highly recommend the house. It‘s the right place for a perfect holiday!

Best holiday

We spent three weeks in this lovely house with our two kids (9 and 13 years old). Everything was just perfect - the house is hidden in the forest, so it's really private. The pool is awesome and the whirlpool, too. The house inside is small but really nice, cosy, clean and has everything you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The welcomed us warmly and prepared some Tuscan food on the patio for us. The cleaned the pool every few days when we were not there (they always told us before) and we got new towels and linen every week. There are nice restaurants nearby (you can reach them by car within 5-10 minutes). We also tried the pizza oven in the garden a few times, really special! We definitely recommend the holiday house!

Great place with an amazing host

We had a great time with the Object. We were very warmly welcomed by the host and his family. There was great tiramisu, fruit, cold drinks and snacks to welcome us. This was followed by a brief info on all the important points around the house. The pizza oven, the pool and the fireplace together with the great and cozy outdoor area we liked very much. The property is a bit hidden so privacy is guaranteed, however the driveway is still a bit adventurous the first few times. Everything necessary can be found in the immediate vicinity, but a car is necessary. Many thanks to Gabriele, who was always helpful with questions, even via WhatsApp.

Wir, eine kleine Familie aus vier Personen, hatten das große Glück, einige Tage in der zauberhaften Villa „Casa Metato“ zu verbringen – und wir können gar nicht genug Lob finden, um unsere Begeisterung auszudrücken.Die Villa mit eigenem Pool liegt einsam und romantisch umgeben von Bäumen im Wald. Schon beim Betreten spürt man die romantische Seele der Toskana: ein liebevoll restauriertes Haus mit antiken Holzbalken, schön gestaltet und mit einem atemberaubenden Panoramablick. Wunderschön ist auch der Pool, der unser Lieblingsplatz während der zwei Wochen war. Was diesen Aufenthalt wirklich außergewöhnlich machte, war die unglaubliche Hilfsbereitschaft des Eigentümers und seiner Familie. Schon bei unserer Ankunft haben sie uns mit einem persönlichen Willkommenspaket mit lokalen Spezialitäten begrüßt. Herausragend war seine Hilfe bei einer Autopanne in Lucca. Ohne seine Unterstützung wären wir aufgeschmissen gewesen. Seine herzliche Hilfe hat uns das Gefühl gegeben, nicht nur Gäste, sondern Freunde zu sein. Wir werden ihm diese Gastfreundschaft nie vergessen. Danke!„Casa Metato“ ist mehr als nur ein Ferienhaus – wir denken zurück an einen Ort, an dem Toskana, Urlaub und authentische italienische Gastfreundschaft zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis verschmolzen sind. Romantisches Häuschen in traumhafter Lage

Die Casa Metato liegt oberhalb von Castiglione di Garfagnana, man hat einen fantastischen Blick auf das Tal und die umliegenden Berge. Das Haus selbst ist blitzsauber und mit allem, was man für die Selbstversorgung benötigt, ausgestattet. Die Gastgeber sind sehr aufmerksam. Gabriele hat uns über WhatsApp mit sehr guten Ausflugstipps versorgt und seine Eltern haben uns überaus freundlich begrüßt. Das Haus wurde während unseres Aufenthalts geputzt, der Pool mehrfach gereinigt, aber immer mit Ankündigung, so dass wir uns nie gestört fühlten. Die Gastgeber schaffen eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, man merkt, dass ihnen die Gäste und das Haus sehr wichtig sind. Der Außenbereich ist sehr gut ausgestattet, mit Liegen und sogar einem Whirlpool. Wir können die Casa Metato in jeder Hinsicht empfehlen.

Erholsamer Aufenthalt mit toller Aussicht

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in diesem kleinen Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Die Lage ist ruhig und die Aussicht auf die umliegenden Berge war wirklich schön. Besonders der Pool hat uns gut gefallen, da man von dort aus direkt auf die Natur blicken kann. Das Haus ist kompakt, aber gut ausgestattet. Alles war sauber und ordentlich, und wir hatten alles, was wir für einen entspannten Urlaub brauchten. Die Einrichtung ist schlicht und funktional. Besonders gut fanden wir, dass die Gastgeber freundlich und hilfsbereit waren, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Insgesamt eine empfehlenswerte Unterkunft für alle, die nach Ruhe und einer schönen Landschaft suchen.

Lief huisje met volledige privacy

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in dit knusse huisje met zijn tweeën. Goed geoutilleerd, prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk veel ruimte buiten zowel in als uit de zon. Gabriele is een geweldige gastheer. Tip: eten bij Ristorante Col d’Arciana.

Prachtig in alle opzichten !

Schönes kleines Haus mit sehr schöner Außenanlage

Wir hatten zwei sehr schöne Urlaubswochen im Juni, zu zweit mit unseren Hunden. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und wertig möbliert. Die Außenanlage mit Pool und Stühlen, Liegestühlen und liegen ist hochwertig und sehr gepflegt. Der Besitzer reinigt regelmäßig, die Bettwäsche wird nach einer Woche gewechselt, ohne dass man etwas tun muss. Das ist sehr guter Service. Reklamationen werden kurzfristig erledigt. Allerdings sind die angegebenen 80 m² keine Wohnfläche. Diese würden wir auf etwa 60 m² schätzen. Die Zimmer sind insgesamt sehr klein, in der Küche durch den großen Tisch auch wenig Platz. Dadurch fehlt es auch an bequemen Sitzmöbeln. Was man noch wissen muss, ist, dass das Grundstück für Hunde, die eventuell weglaufen, nicht gut geeignet ist. Außerdem führt direkt unterhalb des Hauses die Straße zum Pass entlang, die an Wochenenden sehr stark von Autos und vor allem Motorrädern frequentiert ist. Abends und Nacht ist es dann wieder sehr ruhig und angenehm.

Wirklich traumhaftes Häuschen in absoluter Alleinlage

Wir haben das Haus vor Ort exakt wie auf den Bildern gezeigt angetroffen - es ist sehr liebevoll restauriert und aufwendig ausgebaut. Uns hat insbesondere der wunderschöne Pool und die tolle Außenküche gefallen - die Pizza aus dem Holzofen war sensationell! Die Vermieter waren überaus freundlich und jederzeit per WhattsApp für Fragen für uns erreichbar. Insgesamt ein sehr schöner und erholsamer Aufenthalt.

Sehr schönes abgelegenes Häuschen

Sehr sehr netter Vermieter, der immer erreichbar war bei Fragen. Abgelegenes aber wunderschönes Grundstück und Haus, genau wie auf den Bildern. Das Haus ist klein aber für 4 Pers. gerade noch ausreichend (v.a. kleines Bad). Alles sauber und schön, gut gepflegt. Tolle Umgebung mit vielen Freizeitmöglichkeiten.
