About the host
Hosted by Amanda and Adriano
Hi there! This is our story....
Amanda:
While I was attending Texas A&M, a family friend and professor told my parents about the study abroad program in Castiglion Fiorentino. I did not want to go, but my grandmother thought I should, so I did. It changed my life!
After graduation, I returned to Castiglion and planned to stay for 2 years. It turned into 20+years! During that time, I met Adriano. We worked together at a local pub and ended up getting married in 2001. We bought this apartment in the center of town and we just loved being at the heart of everything.
Adriano:
Hi I am Adriano. I was born and raised in a little Etruscan village in the outskirts of Arezzo called Bagnoro. When I met Amanda, the love of my life, I was bartending at a pub in Castiglion Fiorentino, “The Velvet Underground”. At that time I was in nursing school I was still playing football (soccer) and I was dying to see the world! I had no idea that this encounter would have been such a game changer for the both of us.
I love football but I enjoying playing any kind of sport. Running, tennis, mountain biking, hiking and swimming (at the beach). During these past years, I have done all kinds of activities from starting, managing, and running restaurants and bars, producing events, working in every field of an emergency setting, coaching youth soccer, moving to Texas, as well as putting together “La Casa di Amanda”…last but not least raising my two children, Lola and Ross.
The best part of having guests at La Casa di Amanda is meeting and connecting with people from all over the world, giving them the best Italian experience so maybe one day I will be their guest in their country!
We bought this house in Via San Michele at the beginning of the millennium after seeing probably 200 other houses. We fell in love with the layout, the outside space and the incredible location.
Now, we want to share it with you………….
