Beautiful 500 year old Farmhouse full of charm and character with wood burner.
The Goetre dates back to c1500 . Dating back to the beginning of Henry the 8th’s reign and is full of character with ingle nook fireplaces, beams and a wealth of history and is very cosy. and ideal for extended family gatherings as it sleeps up to 13. There is a lovely glass fronted woodburner, and a recently purpose built sun room with a brand new kitchen with underfloor heating. The Goetre does have oil central heating also.
We can currently only except bookings from guests from Wales over Easter, sorry, them's the rules at the moment due to Covid restrictions.
The Goetre sits on the escarpment of the Cambrian mountains at 1100 feet on Bryn y Fan, looking east and south down the Trannon valley which leads in to the Severn valley and has spectacular panoramic views over 35 miles with far off mountains cradling the view. Being set exactly in mid Wales, this is the perfect location to explore this beautiful part of the world and easily accessable to north and south Wales also, stunning beaches are only a 40 minute drive away.
Goetre Farmhouse is also only 4 miles from the charming market town of Llanidloes with local shops many of which sell local produce including butchers and organic veg shop and Wholefoods. There are two supermarkets too The Coop and Spar. We like to encourage guests ‘to shop local’ to support our local business in this rural community.
Set within the 5 acres of grounds there is a hectare of native woodland planted in 2011 which is coming on nicely and you are welcome to explore, we are establishing a wildlife nature with large pond and have mowed walking tracks you are welcome to use. We practice organic permaculture principles and have a strict recycling policy.
Very near Llyn Clywedog a large lake which has sailing, fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding (lessons can be arranged) and very near the River Severn and Wye for excellent canoeing. Also, close to excellent cycling tracks too. There is an excellent walk up Bryn y fan, directly from the house, which when at the top, you can see over the lake and on to the Plynlimon mountains west, Snowdon and Cadar Iris to the North, Brecon Beacons to the South and over into hills of Shropshire to the east,
There is another holiday let available at these premises that sleeps six and is called The Granary if you wish to extend the number of people for larger family group holidays. There are over 240 positive reviews for The Granary and Farmhouse on Airbnb and I am classified as a Superhost. Please note that this is a very old property with low beams and steps.

We wanted a rural, ancient farmhouse high in the hills of central wales. The farmhouse did not disappoint. Upgrades to house were well done with modern plumbing and kitchens. Views were spectacular day and night. The market town nearby was extremely friendly with good food and excellent shops. The land around the farmhouse was well maintained and the flower gardens were superb!
Wonderful location with my sons, daughters in law, and 4 grandchildren to celebrate big birthdays.
Loved being able to walk out the door to the hills.
Plenty of space for us all, but in the summer the conservatory was the place to be. Great views whilst washing up!!
Well stocked kitchen, never needed anything.
Bez was easy to work with and very helpful.
We hope to be back.
Would like the WiFi to work a bit better but I know Bez was working on that.
