About this property
Private Island with a hand scribbed log cabin on beautiful Burntside Lake
Stay on your own 2 1/4 acre private island on beautiful Burntside Lake near Ely, Minnesota. One of the country's most beautiful lakes, studded with approx. 125 islands and ringed with coves and bays. Water sports paradise: swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, boating and fishing. A deep water lake of over 7000 acres. Fishing centers around Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass & Lake trout. Lake Trout & Walleye have been stocked by the DNR for decades and there is a healthy population of each.
The cabin is hand scribed logs from the Isabella area and constructed in 1984. (the outhouse is also constructed of hand scribed logs). The main level has one bedroom, kitchen, dining area, 'bathroom' consisting of a small vanity and shower, and the main living area with a wood burning stove. The area above the living area is open to the vaulted ceiling. The loft is open to the living area and has a double and single bed.
The island was 'spared' from logging in the early 1900's due to size, therefore we have first growth red pines. BEAUTIFUL!
Watch & listen to loons and ducks swim by. View sunrises and sunsets from one of the three decks. If you're lucky, you can view Aurora Boreallis from the dock.
We have an outdoor firepit for campfires or cookouts.
Bring your own boat and motor or contact us for options.

About the host

My sisters & I had the blessing of "growing up" on the island since our parents purchased it & ultimately had the log cabin built. This was not our residence rather a retreat from the city. Now our children (6 combined & all adults) have also "grown-up" on the island. My wife Carolyn & I along with our adults kids Olivia & Andrew reside in the NW suburbs of Chicago. We are very fortunate in that we can spend a fair bit of our time at the island during all 4 fantastic Minnesota seasons & are excited to be sharing our slice of heaven with you all.
Why they chose this property
Our parents fell in love with Burntside Lake on our first family vacation on the lake.
Shortly thereafter they learned of this undeveloped island for sale. Our father had a childhood dream of someday owning a log cabin. Together with our mother that dream was realized & on a private island to boot.

What makes this property unique
We love having the entire island to ourselves. It is so quiet & peaceful. The lake is one of the clearest & cleanest in the state. Boat activity is drastically less than lakes in all of Minnesota.
We can view both sunrises and sunsets from one of the decks which also has a 360 degree view of the pristine waters of the Majestic Burntside lake.
