About this property
Creekfront! Private ponds for fishing! Mountain views & trails. Pet-friendly
CREEKFRONT! PET-FRIENDLY! Over 1/2 mile creekfront, walking trails, two private ponds for fishing and 60+ acres of woods, creek & wetland on a managed trout stream. Blackwell Branch Cabin in the beautiful Tusquittee valley...It's all about the creek. And the mountains beyond. Fall asleep to the sounds of the rushing creek right outside the windows. Enjoy morning coffee on the wrap-around deck, watch deer in the meadow and geese in the pond. Relax in the evening on the rocking chair porch. Let the kids run-- they'll love the 2-story playhouse. Fish for a trout dinner just steps outside the back door!
Blackwell Branch Cabin is bordered by two creeks-- it sits right on rushing Tusquittee Creek which can be heard from every room in the cabin and in addition, there is another small creek ("Blackwell Branch") that runs along the western edge of the property. The cabin boasts wide wrap-around decks, a rocking chair front porch and a two-story playhouse for the kids! A large section of the rear deck is closed off with gates to keep small children and pets secure. Enjoy a campfire right on the banks of the creek.
Interior: 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths (1500sf)
Upstairs--master bedroom loft with queen-size four-poster bed, two closets and large dresser. Second bedroom upstairs--single bed with a pull-out trundle and closet. Between the two bedrooms is a full bath with shower/tub and a large closet to stash away all your things. Third bedroom is downstairs with a queen bed, closet and large dresser with TV. Next to it is the other bathroom which has an old-fashioned claw-foot soaking tub, perfect for unwinding after a day on the trails. (The stacked washer/dryer is in a closet in this bathroom.)
The downstairs living space has an open plan with kitchen open to the dining room and living room. Dining room has a large farm-style table. There is a second smaller table in the dining room area for games & puzzles and setting up your laptop. The living room has a large wrap-around sectional sofa w/recliner that sits right in front of the river-rock hearth and wood-burning stove and a large HD TV. Kitchen, dining room and living room all open out to the wide wrap-around decks. The large rocking chair front porch is a great place to watch for deer as they trek from the pond and head up the mountain at the end of the day.
The property: The cabin sits on three wooded acres along Tusquittee Creek, level, with a gravel pull-through drive. Serenity Lane is a dead-end road with only four homes, offering both peace and privacy.
Internet, TV and telephone: Keeping in mind that cellular service here in our little corner of the mountains can be somewhat erratic, we've provided a landline telephone (unlimited long distance in the continental US) and hi-speed internet to help you keep in touch. TV is provided by DirectTV and a Roku streaming device lets you use your Netflix, Hulu and other apps.
Equipment & supplies:
Bedrooms & baths: All sheets and towels are provided with extras in the linen closet. Bathrooms are supplied with bar soap, liquid hand soap, extra toilet paper and Kleenex, and hairdryer.
Kitchen is fully equipped: microwave, coffeemaker (Keurig and drip), toaster, blender, hand-mixer, all pots & pans, dishwasher soap and liquid dish soap, hand soap, paper towels.
Living room: Starter supply of wood for wood-burning stove is provided. For the big fire-pit out by the creek, you'll find plenty of dead-fall wood on the property.
Reading library, games & puzzles: You’ll find a large collection of books and puzzles of all types in the bookcase and nightstands.

About the host
Hosted by Linda & Jorge Gonzalez
Raised in New Jersey (too crowded). Chicago winters (too cold). Florida summers (too hot!). Clemson University grad (go Tigers!). But all we ever wanted to do was live in the mountains. We finally realized our dream and settled in the one of the friendliest small towns imaginable, surrounded by nature's beauty which awes us every day. Peace. Nature. Tranquility. We found our serenity.
We're very proud of our 100+ 5-star reviews and enjoy return visits by many of our long time guests. We are local owner/managers and ready to answer questions and do what we can to make your stay with us here on the creek as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Why they chose this property
We discovered Hayesville and Clay County after driving west from the crowds and hubbub of the Asheville area. Convenient to three metropolitan airports (Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga), Hayesville prides itself as being 'two hours from anywhere'. A largely rural area surrounded by national forest, the town boasts both a single stop-n-go light and a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant. The area is rich in local folk arts and culture and recreation choices abound. Fishing and boating on Lake Chatuge is 10 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, golf, antiques galore. Concerts on the square, festivals and vineyards make it hard to choose what to do each day. The cabin is convenient to town but feels a world away.
What makes this property unique
Turn off the road, drive past the pasture, look across the pond, cross over the creek and you've entered a different world. Blackwell Branch Cabin sits right on a rushing, stocked trout stream. The cabin is surrounded by acres of woods offering peace and privacy. The pond offers a never-ending show of wildlife-- deer, ducks and geese, cranes, eagles and Harry, our resident Great Blue Heron. Children love to walk by the pasture and watch the calves as they run and play with momma always casting a wary eye. Take a walk by the pond and creek-- you'll feel like you're in your own private place in the natural world.
