Riverkeeper Inn is located in a peaceful and quiet area of Harpers Ferry, equally perfect in early mornings and late nights. The check-in and check-out process were very easy, and the property itself had everything we could've asked for, and then some.
The hosts are wonderful. I had a great time in their cozy, clean and beautiful place. Highly recommend for a visit to beautiful and historic WV.I particularly appreciated their fondness for dogs. Mine had a great time too!
Went to Harper’s Ferry for our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted to stay near the water since we usually stay in town. Found this property and it was perfect. Sits on property with owners who we met and their dog Chloe who was an absolute sweetheart. If you are looking for a piece of serenity you will find it at the Riverkeeper Inn. Very nice and quiet neighborhood. The property was tidy and clean and you get to use the gazebo or decks near the water to chill and if it wasn’t too chilly would have taken the kayaks out on the water. Highly recommend this property.
Well needed short get away with our fur babies. And they got to meet a new friend also.

It was awkward and uncomfortable having the owners on the same property as they were not . very friendly to us they acted rude and stuck up! The dock, stairs and “cottage” all need building code updates to be considered safe enough to rent. The couple that lives there was always around and it just felt like we were being watched all of the time like I was intruding on their space. I didn’t feel safe, because we were surrounded by equipment and flammables outside and inside the garage connected to it. I was under the impression we would be close to water with no owners on site. The unit itself smelt horrible like cigarettes and mildew and it made me sick…I’m literally sick and I spent money for my daughter’s bday and we did not enjoy our stay! The docks were surrounded by sharp rocks and weeds with stickers that hurt badly if you touch them which was near impossible not to do. I don’t think they should be allowed to rent until they fix some major mold, smoke and safety issues. I will be requesting a refund it definitely was not work 300 a night!!! Don’t believe the reviews. They also need to mention that you will not have cell service to map to their property so you have to make sure you have a print out of the directions or a paper map. We were stuck for hours trying to find our way there. Thanks Expedia!
Enjoyed our brief stay. Nice getaway. Appreciated the added touch of holiday decorations to make our stay extra homey & cozy.

Bill and Robin were great hosts. We were looking for something quiet and relaxing and we found it. We spent Thanksgiving and the weekend after there, despite not having a stove or oven, we were able to prepare our meal with the use of the grill and hot plate that was provided.
The beauty of the river and surrounding property was great. Being able to wake up and go sit on the decks and have a cup of coffee was just the remedy to help decompress and recharge. Shepherds town was great with the first weekend of Christmas shopping as was Harper’s Ferry. Harper’s Ferry is always something special but we really enjoyed Shepherdstown’s Main Street and stores. Charlestown was a bust, not very much shopping on Main Street, very disappointed that more money was spent on gambling then their Main Street.
The Bavarian Inn and lodge was a pleasure to have a meal at. There is elegant dining or you can eat in the pub area for a more casual environment. The food was excellent and service was fantastic.
We have been talking about finding a place to go every year for Thanksgiving and I think we have found it. We look forward to heading back next year and maybe even a couple time in between.
What a stunning view! We enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable. Bill is so welcoming and included the use of his goff cart as part of our stay. Very quiet and relaxing!!
This is the most adorable cottage. Its clean, it's homey and has everything you need. The property is lovely. Every night we ate dinner along the water. Tubed during the day, fire at night. The owners are a lovely couple who are there if you need them and very helpful. You see them but they give you space. They have the sweetest Golden, her name is Chloe. They also have a golf cart which was a ton of fun to drive around the community. I felt very safe and would visit again. Loved the area. My dog and I hiked on a few of the battlegrounds near by. This property is worth seeing and experiencing.
I would give this experience a 4.5. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 is that the cottage is located on the same property as the owners, directly behind their home. They again, are a lovely couple and gave you space and were very accomodating. This is just something I wish I would have known ahead of time. If this was mentioned in the reviews or write-up, I did not see it and that is on me. :)
The Riverkeeper cottage was quaint, clean, and perfect for our needs. We met the owner, Bill, right away and he was very welcoming to us and our dog. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had all that we needed. While there wasn't a stove/oven, but we didn't feel like we needed one. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Good sized smart tv's in both the living room and bedroom. Cottage is located behind the owner's home in a very quiet, clean neighborhood immediately overlooking a peaceful section of the Potomac River. Immediately across the small street from the house is a gorgeous dock overlooking the river. We enjoyed our coffee in the screened in cabana on this deck every morning. While the owners met us as we arrived, they gave us our space during our whole visit. We took a walk through the neighborhood one evening and enjoyed the stroll along the Potomac, encountering deer and geese along the way. Very close to Antietam and Harper's Ferry national parks, hiking trails, and small historic towns.
This guest house was cute and enough room for us (two adults). (There was a pull out couch available on the living/kitchen area if we had more people.) The directions given were clear and got us exactly where we needed to be.
Upon arriving you see beautiful, well manicured gardens and lawn on both sides of a narrow road that separates the houses from the river front. The owners do an excellent job keeping the property pleasing to the eye. The owner came to greet us and told us to pull into the drive. After turning into the driveway, you pull behind the main house to arrive at the guest house. The booking is a small half-garage, half house.
The location is perfect for those looking to explore the river, enjoy the history of the area, and just relax in the garden/gazebo area overlooking the water. We loved kayaking, fishing and borrowing the owners tubes to float down the river. The guest house is across the street from the river.
Bill, one of the owners was friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations for restaurants, and fishing.
We gave it four stars because it wasn't quite as clean as we expected. There were several spiders (both dead and alive) in addition to other live bugs we found in the house throughout our stay. Additionally, there were two cars in "disrepair" that were visible, a cracked window in the house, and dog poo in the side/back yard. We understand this property is actively lived-in, but we were surprised by these few things.
Bill And Robin were amazing hosts! I actually search for days for a amazing setting to propose to my fiancé and this rental property had everything we were looking for to make it a very intimate moment. Everything from the view, the generosity, things to do, the local activities around the towns just made an overall great experience!
I would definitely do the pontoon ride down the river

About the host

Robin and I grew up in Johnstown, PA. We always had a dream of living on the water. We got lucky when we found this gorgeous place. Well not when we bought it, a concrete rambler that was a mess. You could not see the river from the house. We completely rebuilt the main house in 2008 adding the ultimate master bedroom. We added the Cottage in 2005, for family, friends and guests. It has been a labor of love. We have lived here since 2003. We tell everyone that we live on vacation. We would love to share our little piece of paradise with you.
