About this property

Apartment with two small patios in the old town of Seville

It is an apartment on the ground floor, in a house of the forties, rehabilitated in 2001 by the owners, who currently live on the upper floors. It can accommodate 2/5 people with a total area of about 75 m². It has a bedroom with a double sofa bed, a study with a double bed, a large living room with kitchenette (30 m²), a bathroom and a toilet. The living room and the study have window doors to access two small courtyards.

The access to the two interior courtyards of the apartment and the tranquility that we enjoy in this part of the neighborhood give the feeling of being in an independent house in the center of Seville. In spring, guests can enjoy the cool resting in the hammocks of the two courtyards and in winter the centralized gas heating makes the apartment warm and cozy, a small luxury that is appreciated in Seville. For long term stays central heating will be charged separately based on actual consumption.

Only individuals included in the reservation and registered are allowed to stay in the flat. If two guests prefer to sleep in separate beds, an extra fee may apply . Fee for extra guests (prior authorisation) is 10€ per person and night.

Great place to explore Seville

A quiet, very nicely appointed 2 bedroom apartment with a functional, well equipped kitchen just a few minutes walk from the city centre. The owner lives upstairs and is happy to help with any questions. The apartment has high ceilings with wooden beams giving it a nice, open feel. On sunny days the patios provide additional light. The main bedroom is separated from the kitchen/living room area by a curtain only. A safe and great place to visit Seville! We'll definitely stay again on our next visit to this beautiful city.

Nightmare, Stay Elsewhere

I hate to leave a bad review but I feel I must for anyone staying here in the future. I have stayed in many places for work and travel, but I have never been so disappointed. The shower drain was clogged, the toilet smelled constantly, two of the pillows were like wet bags of sand (and smelled like urine, I had to ask for replacements) and the rest were decoration pillows, the oven did not function correctly, couch didn't have cushions so you are sitting on springs, the back room was damp and the noise in the front room makes it impossible to get a full nights sleep. No aircon and lots of mosquitoes. The main reason I disliked my stay was I felt I had no privacy at all. Consuelo lives upstairs and can see directly into the apartment. Also when I was not there once she entered my apartment WITHOUT permission, to collect hammocks. I was very uncomfortable after this believed she had been entering it while I was at work. I received messages and phone calls from her almost daily for 7 weeks about leaving windows open, washing machine making noise, lights on, doors banging, etc. Extremely annoying. After doing a cash deal so she could avoid paying tax, she asked for a security deposit and refused to give it back. After leaving her house in better condition than I got it, she charged me for every guest I had, even though it did not say it on the English version of Vrbo, in her booklet or her daily text messages. To me, she was a thief. Sevilla is big, stay elsewhere.

This seems a handbook case of trying to cause reputational damage - through a bunch of lies and half-truths – as a revenge for not getting what one wants. All details about the apartment were on my Vrbo listing (no aircon, minimum age of guests 28 - he is 23, but I only realized once he had arrived-, fees for extra guests, etc.). The “cash deal” he mentions was for an extension of his stay of about 3 weeks and it was an option I gave him to avoid paying additional platform fees (nothing to do with taxes) and reduce his overall rent. He could have perfectly told me he preferred to extend the reservation through Vrbo and pay more or, if the apartment was so awful, he could have left after the first month. But instead he decided to stay and have 6 additional guests (for a total of about 15 nights) over a period of about 7 weeks - during which the electricity consumption was increased 3,5 fold- and then he was shocked at the end of his stay, when I charged him less than HALF of the extra fee due and he started to shout and insult me. No point in replying to all of his complaints one by one - as apparently I am also to blame for the presence of mosquitos in the house - but I will mention just a couple of things. 1) when he arrived I mentioned that the oven and the shower had just recently been repaired and to let me know they were working ok. When I later asked he replied that he had hardly used the oven and that the shower had been clogged, but that he had fixed it himself (I actually had workers in the house that could have looked at it). 2) when he mentions the back room being damp, of course rooms on a ground floor can get a bit damp, but that is why I mentioned and insisted on the need to air the room regularly and open the windows from time to time, which he hardly ever did (apparently to avoid mosquitos getting in), so yes, the room was very damp when he left. 3) it is the first time that a guest complains about noises in the front room (at least if one wants to sleep during the night, not in daytime) and most of them, actually appreciate the quiet of our area, especially being so close to busy and noisier areas in Seville city centre. 4) the fact that I live upstairs does not mean I need to interfere with guest’s daily activities, but in this case I had to draw this guest’s attention to the fact that he once left THE MAIN DOOR WIDE OPEN (a neighbour luckily warned me and I was not far from home, otherwise anyone could have broken into my house upstairs) and I also asked him a couple of time to avoid slamming the main metal door doing in out (especially late at night), as the whole building resonates. The occasion he mentions when I collected two textile hammocks, (that were left under the rain for several days, when he was away on a trip) I texted him to ask if I could collect them to prevent them getting mouldy and smelly, and when I got no reply for several days I figured I would just collect them and hang them in the sun to return them when he came back (I have a master key only for emergency cases, that I have also used when guests have asked me to leave extra blankets, fix something, change a lightbulb or turn on/off the heating for them). I apologise if he felt intruded and if I miscalculated the consequences of my action, but I really have better things to do in life other than going to spy on my guests, as they are away. And all of the above issues and faults have never been mentioned to me, until I brought up the ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THE EXTRA GUESTS, which seemed to me a pretty straightforward issue, just the same as when I stay in a hotel and make a reservation for one person and then show up with 3 other people, I don’t expect to be charged the same. A different thing is that for long-term stays I do not charge the whole extra fee, which I did not.

Disappointed

I hesitated to write this review but feel it’s only fair to review this property for others considering staying here. We have stayed in many homes throughout Spain and Portugal over the last 15 years, without exception they have all been very pleasant accommodations. We had the same expectations for our stay here in Sevilla. In arrival we were pleased with the locations of the apartment. We rang the buzzer and our host ushered us in. She was presently making sauce on the stove in our apartment and seemed flustered by our arrival. At first glance the apartment seemed rustic but somewhat charming. After she showed us in we prepared to settle in once she had removed the sauce to her own apartment. Oh my, I have never laid my body on a more uncomfortable mattress in my life, hard as rock and lumps. The pillows may as well have been wet bags of cement. Out to the sofa I go only to discover the sofa has a cover which hides the fact there are no cushions on the sofa, you are just sitting on springs! The day bed in the living room turned out to be just as hard and uncomfortable as the other alternatives. Little sleep was had by any of the four of us. We were not in the apartment much the following day as it was spent exploring and we attended a concert that night which was a Saturday. Sunday we were out all day until about 9pm, we we’re all in bed just after midnight. Next day our host knocks on the door to insist we must be basically silent after 11;00pm(in a city where dinner out starts at about 10:00pm)I told her we were only talking in the living room where she informed us her rooms hear everything from our apartment and her school age son can’t be woke. She basically advised us we needed to whisper when speaking amongst ourselves. If she did hear noise in the night it was my son in law trying to kill a cockroach that flew at his head while in bed. He was unable to find it and unfortunately the next day we found it happily crawling around the burners of the stove. It was 43° celicius while we were there. The apartment has a single ceiling fan which didn’t move air at all. We couldn’t open any windows as the apartment would then fill up with mosquitoes. More roaches were spotted in the evening on a trip to the bathroom. I could continue to go but each day was more of the same. Sleepless nights due to stifling conditions and bad nerves from being unable to even speak to one another. It’s a shame that this is deemed acceptable in anyway.Stay elsewhere
