Peaceful rural hideaway
Good standard of comfort and decor. Love a kitchen with proper sharp knives!
Nice hot tub but not totally private - quiet driveway next to garden
We were quite lucky to "bump into" the owner as the email with door code was a bit last minute and not much network coverage in some parts.

Not as luxurious as you might think.
It’s a fine property but expensive for what it is. Lots of mould in shower room/ensuite. Owner knocked on the door and he was a bit off to say the least.

The Gate House is exactly as described. The property is small but very well appointed (in fact, it felt the perfect size). The host was quick to respond to queries and both thoughtful and detailed in replies. The views of the surrounding landscape are beautiful. The hot tub is nice. The main drive for Hetton Hall is nearby but that wasn’t an issue. We enjoyed a few nights of relaxing time in this excellent property. If you’re considering booking the Gate House, we heartily recommend it. We had a lovely escape, felt well looked after by the hosts, loved the hot tub and enjoyed the walk suggested in our welcome messages.
Amazing, quiet, peaceful. The cottage was ideal. We switched off and relaxed, walked, ate, and sat in the hot tub and admired the views. Played bored games and watched dvds.
Lou and her husband were amazing, there was an issue with the oven. They were there within 20 mind sorting. Which they did. Very very helpful. People, and would recommend this place To anyone.
We will definitely be returning.
Nice cottage, poor communication and garden area lacking.
In anticipation of my trip, I reached out to host to ask for check in procedure advised by VRBO, to be told bluntly that it would be sent on the day. Still not received on the day, messaged again, told it would be sent sometime that day. Arrived at property and waited outside as no code, received after a further phone call. Honestly felt the Garden area, was in need of a clean, large ‘day bed’ was dirty and well worn. Patio area not used as a result.House itself was nice, small but had everything including Nespresso machine with some pods. Bathroom is tired and some mould, with slow draining plug which filled within minutes.Overall left disappointment, as Communications with host could easily have been better, nice secluded location, but I felt let down.

Hi Eloise, the communication does advise that you may receive the code on the day as the cleaners set it on departure.
It’s a shame you didn’t mention anything during your stay as I could have rectified anything immediately but I wasn’t aware of any of your grievances until after you left. Many thanks Louise
Our short stay at the Gate Lodge was perfect.. Louise has created a relaxing little haven of luxury. We arrived safely after a very long drive and decided to jump in the jacuzzi straight away. Bottle of bubbly and a clear sky for star gazing. The robes and slippers were a nice touch.
It was quite a windy drive to get everywhere but the views were great
Thankyou Louise for a great getaway and we shall certain telling our family and friends.
We absolutely loved our time in Northumberland. The property was beautiful and the surrounding area was stunning. Wish we had more time to explore and relax. Thank you Louise for all your help :)
Excellent needs a little more info on how to use things and wifi info was out of date. But very minor issues.

Thank you for taking the time to review the cottage Stephanie. I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
I bought the Grade II* listed Pele Tower with the intention of renovating and creating a holiday cottage business and camp site. The campsite is delightfully tranquil, with returning guests. Now here is the 1st holiday cottage. I hope to eventually have 4 so more people can share this wonderful location.
What makes this property unique
Peaceful, accessible to amenities if you want to travel, but also ideal for those who want to bring groceries and never venture out of the cottage and its fabulous garden
