We really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice to be able to come back from our hiking and exploring adventures to a relaxing space to hang out in the evenings and rest. The property was clean and well maintained with everything you could need for a stay.

We're glad you had a relaxing and clean space for your evenings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quiet retreat. We are vegetarian and were able to bring our own food to prepare in the awesome kitchen. We even ate breakfast on the back deck on the one sunny day that we had. Deer paraded by just to entertain. The close proximity to the caverns and St Louis makes it a great home base for day trips. Loved the fire pit, also.
It was a great place to stay, close to Meramec state park, quiet area. We saw deer every evening. So much to see nearby. The house was lovely brand new deck out back.

yes, closest river access is Cane Bottom 1.5 miles from the house. Open May 1 to September 30. The other river access areas in Meramec State Park are open year round.
Great place for our family cousins trip. We enjoyed all of the comforts of home. The deck and fire pit were wonderful, and it was a great place to view the stars and the Northern lights.

The deck is always a nice place to sit and relax. I'm glad you enjoyed my place.
This was the perfect location for the river float that we booked with Arapaho Canoe & Raft Rental. It is also close enough to town if we needed any last minute items. Debra was a great host.

Thank you for booking with us. I'm glad it worked out great for you! You are welcome back.
We had a blast here, little bonfire at night and we played games at the kitchen table during the day. Meramec Caverns is about 25 mins away and we went there for a little outing. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the owners were wonderful.
It was everything we needed to get away for a few days. We enjoyed the peaceful woods and firepit was great the back deck and grill was nice. We enjoyed the closeness of the river too.

About the host

I grew up in the outskirts of St. Louis. My husband grew up in a small town in southern Missouri. We currently live in the country, outside of Stanton, Mo.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property because it was in a quiet neighborhood, near a river that I love to float, and near a state park with many hiking trails and some caves. We opened up part of a wall between the kitchen and living room, so it's easier to entertain friends and family. I've had many friends visit and stay overnight thru the years. It is close to a small town, yet the town is large enough to have restaurants, shopping etc. It is an hour away from St. Louis, if I wanted to do big city activities.
What makes this property unique
I've enjoyed watching the deer, birds and squirrels from my deck. The house just has a comfortable feel. We built a large deck. We've got air conditioning, just in case, but hardly use the a/c. Gary installed the wood stove, and it's really cozy in the winter watching the fire thru the glass doors. Then we added some solar panels, that produce hot air. The furnace is needed mostly when we weren't home.
