Mountaineer Cabin 5 - 3 Bdrm with Hot Tub close to New River Gorge National Park
Rustic cabin 7 miles from New River Gorge Bridge in a secluded wooded area. This charming 3-bedroom cabin sleeps 8 with two queen bedrooms, a full-size bedroom, a sleeper sofa, & 2 full bathrooms. Full kitchen with open living room. Amenities include private hot tub, grill (propane & charcoal), and outdoor fire pit. Large front deck has rocking chairs beside hot tub. 10-minute drive to Adventures on the Gorge (AOTG), 12 minutes to downtown Fayetteville, & 25 minutes to ACE Adventure Lake.
Our cozy, quaint cabin includes two bedrooms with a queen bed and a bedroom with a full size bed. Living room area has pullout couch and multiple chairs with a 50in smart TV. There is two full bathrooms in the unit. We provide towels and linens. Shampoo, conditioner, & body wash is provided. The living room & kitchen area are open with a dining table perfect for groups of 6-8. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, and basic cooking utensils. Basic cleaning supplies are provided under the kitchen sink. Each cabin has internet, air conditioning, & parking right beside unit.
Please note: This cabin has its own private, gravel driveway and is out of sight from all our other cabins. This driveway can be a little difficult to spot from the road, especially during the night. We will provide you with very detailed directions, including some land markers and pictures, before your stay that most people find to be easy to follow. Please note that this gravel driveway has a slight incline that some low clearance cars or motorcycles could have issues with, especially during snowstorms. We do plow during the winter and significant snow is fairly rare but worth noting.
Cell phone service in this area may be spotty. We are located in rural West Virginia which has its advantages & disadvantages. Starlink has recently been installed in this cabin with significantly better internet access being reported since installation.
We do not have a washer/dryer listed on our amenities, however, we do have a shared washroom with washer/dryer that guests may use when it is not in use by our cleaning staff. This room is used as a staging area by our cleaning staff to service all 6 of our cabins. During the day at least one of the washer/dryer units is typically in use by our cleaning staff, if not both. Both are generally open during the morning & evening. The wash room is located beside cabin 1, has two washers/dryers, and has laundry supplies that the guests may use free of charge. Please note no washers/dryers are in the cabins. The facilities are available as a curtesy to our guests.
Each cabin has its own private hot tub. We empty, clean, and refill our hot tubs after each stay. For this reason, there is a chance that the hot tub will not be up to full temperature immediately after checking in, especially if a guest checked out that morning. It generally only takes a couple hours at most but may be a little longer during the colder months. Please do not push hot tub buttons attempting to heat it quicker. Hot tubs have many locks (kid, eco etc…). You may lockout or shutdown the heating process by pushing the wrong button.
All of the cabins have an outdoor fire pit area with a picnic table. Firewood is not provided but is sold at Walmart, Kroger, Lowe’s and the Exxon station by I19. This cabin has a propane grill on the front porch with propane included. Additional propane tanks can be found at our shared washroom area next to cabin 1 in a closet next to the entry door.
We do allow well-behaved, small-medium sized dogs (50 pounds or less) for a $50.00 additional cleaning fee. No cats. 2 dogs maximum. Guests are expected to dispose of their dogs waste before leaving. There is an outdoor trashcan near the walkway of the cabin. All pets must be listed on the reservation when booking and housebroken. Failure to include your pet in the reservation will result in fines.
Our cabins are less than 10 minutes away from the newest National Park! The New River Gorge offers world class whitewater, rock climbing, mountain biking, ziplining, hiking, fishing, bird watching, and more! The gorge provides some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast. Fayetteville West Virginia, voted top 10 coolest small towns in America, is a short 15 minute drive from the cabins and has lots of great local restaurant options. Our welcome guide includes food and activity recommendations during your stay.
Please note that we have a fairly strict cancelation policy. This includes changes to the reservation dates outside of the cancelation period. Feel free to reach out but if the request has short notice or involves a weekend reservation it is unlikely we will be able to accommodate the request. One of the only remedies we will offer is a refund if someone else rebooks the same dates as your reservation. Our rentals are booked nearly every weekend so allowing a date change or short notice cancelation generally results in us losing a reservation we would have had otherwise. For this reason, we recommend purchasing travelers’ insurance through the app if you expect you may have an issue.
Last note about the property location. The cabins do not have a physical address to mail things to. We will provide detailed step by step directions, including land markers and a physical address of the property contiguous to our cabins before your stay. This is all detailed in the directions we send out and the physical address that will take you within a stones throw of the cabin is on apple & google maps. Our guests find the directions to be very easy to follow and rarely do people have any issues finding the cabin.

Loved it! Feels remote because you’re surrounded by woods, but at the same time it’s close to anything you might want or want to do in the area. The hot tub was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Everything was clean and comfortable. The host was super informative and responsive - he let us know everything we needed to know in advance and the one time I had a question I got an immediate response. We’d definitely want to stay there again if we’re in the area :D
Great place. Clean and cozy. Deck was great for spending time on as were the fire pit and picnic table area (minus the snake that visited us). Road noise was pretty loud but we got used to it after a while and it didn't impact our sleep. Hot tub was delightful. Loved how secluded the home was. Felt like we were in the middle of nowhere yet we were close to everything necessary. Would come back again.
We had a great stay in Hico and our cabin was well appointed, comfortable, and clean. It's so close to New River Gorge. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!
Clean, well-stocked with necessities (tp, paper towles, etc). Lights on to welcome us was a nice touch. The hot tub was the cleanest we've encountered--thank you. We discovered the gears on the can opener are stripped, FYI. Lovely property and would stay again.
Property was clean. Owner's communication was great. Hot tub was loved by my son and family. Even though Rt. 60(Midland Trail) is right there, the trees provide separation and the entire back yard makes you feel like you are secluded BUT there is always road noise. We were there for the Rim to Rim race so the convenience of this location far outweighed the road noise. We are already booked for Bridge Day this fall! And our dogs loved it!
This cabin was absolutely perfect. It was clean, cozy, and made for such a relaxing stay. We loved the peaceful atmosphere and felt comfortable the entire time. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway
It was a little hard to fine, expecially in the dark or fog. But it was clean and comfortable. Hot tub was enjoyable. Kitchen set up is a little off, with not being able to open certain drawers or the fridge all the way. And the floor at the front of the house seems to be sinking in some. There is definitely a dip. However, it was comfortable and we would stay again.
This was our second stay at the property. It’s rustic, super affordable and located in the heart of all the New River Gorge activities. The property is in the woods and secluded which is exactly what you want in a cabin stay!
Place was exactly as described. Directions to place were a bit confusing, road noisey at times and there was some trash in the woods. Other than that everything was GREAT!
Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and cozy atmosphere!

We travel alot and stay in alot of rental homes and this by far was one of the hardest ones to find. The address is not that of the house, it is of a shop down the street. I think you should use the house or the neighbors address to make it easier to find or put up something better than small sunflower. It definitely needs some TLC, the deck has some sketchy boards, the walk way to the firepit was broken and blocked off, we got there to an overflowing trash can of the previous renters trash outside so we had no place to put our trash, I contacted them and took a photo of it so they knew it was not ours, it took a few days when they finally picked it up on Thursday, and we were leaving the next day. The driveway was horrible especially at the end once you made it back up to leave, full of potholes, keep in mind its a 2 track path, and steep not meant for low clearance cars, and not motorcycle friendly, not a nice driveway also kind of narrow. The kitchen was off, the fridge you cannot open all the way due to it being wedged against the wall, which makes it difficult to get food in and out, the front of the house seems to be sagging some the floor has a dip in living room, patio door rubs bad on floor. The propane grill was ok, rusty grates so we used tin foil we brought to cover them to cook on it. Hot tub was definitely nice to use and the house was cute. We enjoyed our time there, it just needs some TLC like I mentioned.

Appreciate your feedback and sorry you dealt with these issues.
Some of these items are disclosed on the property before booking. The reason we use the directions we have is because people drive very fast on route 60 and we find it safer to turn around in the auto shop parking lot rather than slowing down to turn into the driveway from the main road. We have tried to put a larger sign up at the entrance but the DOH forced us to take it down. They compromised with the sunflower we use as a land marker that has been reported as very helpful.
We have replaced half the deck already with the remainder scheduled to be replaced this fall. It is structural strong but does have cosmetic issues. The walkway is going to be replaced then as well.
The trash is generally picked up by me and that was a rare oversight on my part that I apologize for. I tried to come as quickly as I could after getting back in town from a vacation.
The driveway was regraded last Fall with new gravel. We do that every 2 years, however, it is a remote cabin in the woods with a private driveway. One of the trade offs for its privacy. I had a note about low clearance cars in the description before booking and I just updated to reflect that for motorcycles.
