Summary:
Rocky Top Retreat is a newly built cabin featuring a large covered wrap around porch for relaxing and enjoying wildlife. Inside the space is adorned with shiplap walls, cypress floors, concrete countertops and black stainless appliances. There is also a gas fireplace and lots of custom carpentry. It’s truly a unique space in our area that combines traditional materials with modern conveniences.

The Space:
RTR offers 1 Private Queen Bedroom on the main level and a Sleeper Sofa in the Great Room. You'll find a second Private Queen Bedroom upstairs as well as an open sleeping loft with 2 twins. A roll away bed is also available.

Guest Access:
Once guests have completed required documents, guidelines and codes will be delivered the day of arrival.

The Neighborhood:
Our Cabin is less than a mile to Adventures on the Gorge. The New River Gorge Bridge is within a couple of miles and downtown Fayetteville is 4 miles away. Rafting, hiking, biking,climbing,swimming, and fishing are all nearby. Summersville lake is a short drive away.

Rocky Top Retreat is our go-to in Fayetteville! Always clean, well-stocked, and hosted with care. The location is perfect—just minutes from Adventures on the Gorge, downtown, Freefolk Brewery, climbing, and hiking trails right off the driveway. Whether you’re out adventuring or just soaking in the hot tub with mountain views, this cabin is the best spot in town.

Cute cabin! Unable to get the shower to work. So needed to use the bathtub. Had to scrub out the bathtub. It was so gross!!! Windows and walls so dirty. Hot tub not working property.

Nicely located about 20 minutes from most restaurants and ACE water park. The home is cozy and is found down a long one lane road. Minimal road noise heard. We were told that the guest before us were rough on the house and they almost canceled on us when we brought up some broken and dirty things. We elected to stay even though they offered to refund us if we did not utilize the property at all. We cleaned what we could and enjoyed the rest of our stay.

So let me say this. The pics don’t sue this wonderful peaceful justice. Me and my family stayed for 7 days. Beautiful, private, cozy, clean. Had everything you need on the property. From wood for fire pit to towels and even coffee. We enjoyed the porch swing during the thunderstorm. And the view off the wrap around porch. Tons of local wildlife and centrally located to all the adventure the National park has to offer. Easy check in and out. Very helpful host def going back.

New River Fishing Trip

We chose this cabin for our stay in WV on a fishing trip. The cabin was clean, comfy and a nice, quiet, secluded lot not far from Route 19. The process of booking the stay and getting in and out were great.The only issues were the Hot water for showering was not particularly hot and the dishwasher. The dishwater had a sensor prompt an error and beeped an alert. The alert would not cancel and power OFF only lasted for 3-5 seconds before the alert beeping came back ON. It beeped all night and disturbed efforts to sleep.

Perfect location for getting on trails

This cabin was the perfect size & location for 4 friends to come from 3 different states and explore the New River area. Hot tub was too chlorinated but a quick dip helped the sore muscles after a long day of hiking.

Rocky Top Retreat

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the RTR! It was clean, stocked with starter products and essentials and exactly as pictured in listing. Location is great!! Mere minutes to AOTG, Fayetteville, the Bridge and all the Gorge has to offer. Great porch with hot tub, grill, swinging chair and nice fire pit in yard. We would definitely stay again!

Perfect!

We loved Rocky Top Retreat! The cabin was in a beautiful setting, it was well kept and the host made sure we had everything we needed for our short stay. It's in a great location - a stones throw from Adventures on the Gorge and all the other awesome things that Fayetteville has to offer. The only thing we didn't like was that we couldn't stay longer! We'll definitely be back.

Family adventure

We enjoyed our stay at Rocky Top Retreat. The house was located in a secluded area, yet very near to the hiking, kayaking, and river rafting we had come for. The interior felt spacious and comfortable. The appliances seemed new and of good quality. The bed linens were luxurious, and there were little surprises, like a bottle of blackberry merlot, that were an unexpected pleasure. We particularly enjoyed the covered porch on 2 sides of the house, and the hot tub at the end of the day. The air conditioning was efficient. We didn't use the fireplace. The owner made himself very accessible for questions and conversation. We had a great week!

Good location but some issues

This cabin is located centrally to town and to climbing, hiking, rafting etc. it’s fairly nice but there are a few issues that could be addressed, like the downstairs bathroom sink not draining and lumpy mattresses. The AC seemed to blow hot air through some of the vents. The water pressure is pretty bad, too. The fees were extremely high compared to other VRBOs we’ve stayed in. The biggest issue though is the dogs that live next door….they bark all times of day and night. They were running around loose too and are not friendly.

When we rented the property, it was listed as 3 bedroom. There were only 2 bedrooms. When I called owner he stated that the pull out couch was the other “bedroom”. This was disappointing as we had 3 separate “families” that wanted their own privacy. Once we pulled out the couch bed we then learned that it was not in any shape to be slept on. The bed frame was bent and leaning down towards the head of the bed. There were multiple construction nails sticking out of boards various places. Splintered pieces of wood in walking areas. The railing across the loft area was easily movable (loose) and unsafe. There were multiple area of the house we felt the construction crew either left unfinished or cut corners. The toilets weren’t completely sealed (Shims still sticking out and showing). There was dog hair covering the floors and couches. I laid my son down to change his diaper and when he stood back up he was covered in dog hair. We tried to communicate all of this with the owner and he quit returning our calls when we insisted on finding a middle ground. Very disappointed in our stay.

Host made sure we had everything we needed. Secluded place yet incredibly close to town. Would definitely stay again. Only thing I could say negative was the floors were extremely creeky. So as soon as 1 person gets up the whole house is up. Great property overall.

This property was the perfect place for our end of summer getaway! Secluded, but also convenient and close to town and all the sights & trails we were wanting to visit! The house is as described. Cottage near Adventures on the Gorge

Warm & Inviting, surrounded by nature, this serene property is within minutes of the Adventures on the Gorge resort. It is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Perfect set up for our multi generation family of 6. Plenty of privacy but wonderful gathering areas as well.

We built this cabin in 2019 as an investment. We love the property so much we decided to share it with others. This cabin is in the best location in the Fayetteville area. You are 5 minutes to town, shopping, the New River Gorge National Park and 20 minutes to beautiful Summerville lake. But you are rural enough to kick back and relax. We have 6 acres of woods for your family and all of your fur babies to enjoy. There’s over 500 sq ft of covered porch for a rainy day or an evening grilling some dinner. The outdoor fire pit and hot tub are our two favorite amenities. You’ll love Rocky Top Retreat!
