About this property

Pet Friendly and peaceful setting!

This quiet house is snuggled back away from the Leonard boulevard with a beautiful view of the valley. The homes' history suggests it used to be a carriage house! The main house by the road used to be a parsonage, but behind the main house is our carriage (guest) house, so the servants quarters would have been above the lower carriage storage on the second floor. This is where you, our house guests, will sleep. There is a fully furnished kitchen and bathroom (shower only) with comfortable seating on the upper and main floors. Outdoor seating behind the house and on the back patio helps you relax while watching nature and listening to the outdoor sounds. Within walking distance to the local Lamont Park and historical cemetery, you can take short walks around our little town. The house is currently showing it's "age" and we have plans to renovate the attic space. Please keep in mind this is a VERY OLD house and it will not be perfect. There are cracks/paint touch ups and small repairs that need to be done during the winter months when the prime vacation season is finished. But its' imperfections add character, right?
The pool (open June - August), fire pit and sports court are available for our guests.

Very cozy little place, 2 kids and 2Adults, recommend replacing futon (broken legs) and upgrading to a king size bed from a queen, was nice to use the washer and dryers in the pool house. The pool was fun for the kids, the fire pit out back is private and quite to the outside world! We ventured everyday we stayed to different places around the area

We had such a wonderful time at this peaceful little home! The bed was so comfortable. Everything was as clean as I would expect an older home to be. My kids and I absolutely loved the pool and outdoor deck area. We only saw the hosts in passing and felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was quiet and peaceful, with a nice little patio to drink morning coffee on. It was buggy outside but I feel like that is to be expected next to wooded areas. It really felt like home. If you are expecting a 5 star resort, you probably shouldn’t be looking on VRBO, but if you are looking for a safe, quiet, and comfortable place to stay, you’ve found it here.

The place had a pet odor when you walked in the door. There were small bugs everywhere. We lost hot water and gas connection to stove for a day due to construction work in the yard. The pool looked green from iron in pool water. The hosts were kind and considerate and refunded our money for the inconvenience.

This property was just as described. We had a wonderful stay! If you are staying in winter/fall months be sure to bring slippers or warm slipper socks due to the downstairs floor being cold. They do provide an extra heater which helps a lot! Also, we are not firm mattress people and that is what is provided. We were absolutely fine for a night, but if we were staying multiple nights we would want a feather topper for this bed.Thank you for a wonderful stay! We plan to come during summer months to enjoy the pool side and bonfire pit. Pickle ball court looks great, too!

Exactly as described. Small, older and clean. Perfect for our 1 night stay. Hosts were accommodating and quick to communicate. There were high winds in the area that took out the power prior to our arrival. Hosts notified us and kept us updated. It was back on by our arrival. The mattress on the bed was very comfortable. The futon was not the most comfortable for sleeping, but was fine for the night. All in all, nice accommodations and would stay again.

Fun little staycation!

We had a wonderful time - the kids loved having a pool outside their door and pickleball court. The fishing spot was beautiful on the river. Near plenty of restaurants and some parks too. Heidi was a great host!

We chose the property because of our dogs. We stayed over the Christmas holiday, it was freezing for us Texans, but the space heater and regular hwat warmed us nicely. Make note, the tennis court has a gate to walk thru, down the lawn towards the deck/pool, house on the right. It's cute, quaint, charming and clean! The queen bed was comfortable and the pups loved the couch. Navigating stairs is a must, and all of us did fine. Too cold for pool use, but its large, well kept and has a great deck also. Take a walk around the charming community, the church plays musoc outdoors before service. Thank you Heidi and Kyle for a lovely stay

Weekend Stay

Very cute and quiet property accurate to the pictures. The pool is well maintained. Host was easy to contact. Many (10) earwigs and rolly-pollies that come out at night but if you leave the kitchen and bathroom lights on you don't see as many.

About the host

Hosted by Heidi Parcher

Host profile image
Your hosts will be a married couple, who live on the front of the property and both work full time in the the local community. We are enjoying 3 grandchildren with two more on the way.

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for a quiet peaceful home to take a rest, this is the place! Enjoy some "down time" relaxing in our pool. We are 5 minutes away from Allendale and Coopersville. We are 15 minutes away from downtown Grand Rapids and 30 minutes from Grand Haven beach.

What makes this property unique

This unique home qualifies as historic!
Built in the 1830's, there are many stories this house could tell. The most profound piece of information is that the main house was built for a Methodist pastor and his family of Lamont. He would have parked his horse and carriage in the house you will be staying in and possibly have some servants living in the upper floor to help with the estate. Remember, this house has little dents and scratches because it is so old. We try to save our projects for the down time during the winter months. So, keep in mind you will be visiting a OLD house in the COUNTRY with country smells and country critters outside and possibly a couple bugs inside when the weather warms up or cools down with the weather changes.
