About this property
Clos Saint Jeaume
A magnificent converted monastery overlooking the Mediterranean and the Cote d'Azur hills. The property offers 6 air-conditioned bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, huge living room, well-equipped gym, summer kitchen and large heated pool with well equiped pool house.
A unique hilltop property with spectacular panoramic views over the Mediterranean and the Cote d'Azur hills. This 18th century monastery has been renovated into a beautiful family house offering 6 luxury bedrooms, all air-conditioned and 6 bathrooms. The living areas are very spacious and well appointed with a huge vaulted living room, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen and breakfast room. Outside, the garden provides a variety of "al fresco" locations for breakfast lunch or dinner".
The property is set in 3 acres of Mediterranean gardens with over 100 olive trees, lavender banks and wide terraced lawns. There's a large, 12-meter salt-water swimming pool which is heated to a pleasant 28c surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs and sun umbrellas. Adjacent to the pool is a fully equipped summer kitchen with traditional barbecue perfect for family barbecues and sundowners. There is also a pool house with shower, toilet and changing room. The property is south-facing so enjoys the sun all day. Whether dinner under the grapevines next to the water well, breakfast around the old millstone on the south facing terrace, or lunch in the summer kitchen, each time of day offers a unique "Al Fresco" dining experience. The courtyard patio provides further dinner setting for larger groups if needed.
The entrance hall, part of the original monastic farm with wooden beams and meter thick walls, opens up to a TV room and a small open study. Next to the study is the master bedroom with a California King size bed and an antique tiled bathroom ensuite. This bedroom has large doors that swing open to a balcony with breathtaking views across the valley of Opio to the Bay of Cannes. The perfect spot for a romantic night cap.
On the same floor is the spacious “Aix” guest room with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom.
A stone spiral staircase leads to the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The Green room has a king size bed and with views towards the village of Chateauneuf de Grasse. The Red room has a king size bed, with views over the garden. A hallway and staircase lead up to the secluded "Tower Room". The "Tower Room" is the smallest room in the house but boasts stunning 360 degree views of the mountains, the village of Chateauneuf, the valley of Opio and Mougins and the Bay of Cannes.
From the entrance hall, the original stone stairs brings you to the heart of the house, where you will find the traditional provencal kitchen, equipped with modern appliances, sunny breakfast room, and the adjoining dining room with fireplace. A sunlit passageway takes you the the majestic living room with vaulted ceilings, large fireplace and arched windows.
On this floor, you will also find the very comfortable service duplex with queen size bed and convertible couch, convenient for either a nanny or driver, the parents in law, noisy teenagers who need a little independence, or extra guests.
The property also has a 3 car covered car port, as well as laundry facilities.
