Stone artesian home bordering Sawmill Creek and Little Sequatchie River. Huge, unique, stone elevated deck with fire pit for entertaining. Horses welcome and a small barn is available for boarding. Located on 15 acres in a private, secluded location perfect for a private getaway. Property borders the Trials Training Center and is a short drive from Monteagle which boasts attractions such as the beautiful and historic University of the South, Savage Gulf, Foster Falls, Cumberland Plateau and Stone Doors. Property is also a short 30 minute drive from Chattanooga proper and Raccoon Mountain. Hundreds of miles of hiking and running trails await in this perfectly situated gem located a short drive from everywhere!

The cabin was what you expect it to be but if you are afraid/allergic to insects then beware. It is deep in the woods so hard to avoid it but be prepared. We did have to leave after one night just too many spiders.

Everything was as listed. Although we couldn’t find the swimming hole, I did not ask. We had a lot of excursions we went on with the kids and honestly the water would’ve been too cold for April anyway. The house is secluded but not too far away from civilization. The house is beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our spring break. Nice break for the fast life.

You will need to hike to the back of the property onto the Otting Track WMA to access the Little River. There are map in the info booklet or at the trail entrance.

It was a great weekend stay, relatively clean and accommodating. We loved the uniqueness and the history behind the home. My only complaint was only 2 burners on the stove worked, and even those were a struggle to use. No TV’s in the bedrooms. And the silverware was dirty and we had to wash it all before we could use it. So very minor fixable complaints. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we would love to come back some time!

Upon arrival, the property had many issues. The lights in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom did not work, a stove burner was not working, a chair in the living room was broken and there was no working smoke detector. We also experienced the red water that was mentioned in other reviews. The house was in a good location for us but overall the experience was not worth it.

A charming, secluded retreat that worked well for our family visit. It was a short stay for us and we would have liked more time to hike and explore. Dog loved it! Saw lots of deer, right outside the house.

The 1 chair in the living room has both front legs broken and we couldn't use it. The creek boardering the property is a dry creek bed. House was okay but had alot of privacy. Really good if you ride dirt bikes with the riding area next door.

Great host! Great cottage.. they have WiFi now so the comments about not having service is no longer an issue. The property is gorgeous and a short drive into Chattanooga if you want to see the city. Would stay here again when I come back.

This place is amazing! I came in for a wedding in Whitwell and needed a central location for others to stop prior to our meet up. My service pup and I enjoyed the area, the home and the drive to the venue. I plan to come back again as it is the perfect retreat yet within access to conveniences even this vegan needed. I had received check in instructions from the host a few days in advance, it specifically states not to lock the handle because of a key issue. No big deal for us during our stay, but whoever had the rental prior apparently couldn’t follow those instructions, because when we arrived the door was locked, and we were unable to enter the property. After finally getting in contact with the host - we obtained entry and found that the place was a mess! There was trash throughout the house, the beds were slept in and the bathroom and kitchens were dirty. The host offered a refund on the cleaning fee and we clean and do our own linens or to send someone to the house to clean. I requested both. Someone did come to the house and clean but we felt we had to leave the house to give some space and pick up some food for the evening and we’re gone over an hour, and they were still there when we returned. And I’ve yet to see a refund on the cleaning fee. Otherwise, once the house was cleaned, it was good. Ample space within the house, it had everything we needed and lots of hiking places.
Outside the house was adorable, it’s secluded and as described!

The description of the property was deceiving. Property was described as having a creek flowing through the property. Pictures were showing a beautiful flowing creek, in reality, there wasn't a drop of water in the creek channel. It was completely dry. Host should made that completely clear that the creek at times is completely dry. It was very disappointing.
