The cabin was what you expect it to be but if you are afraid/allergic to insects then beware. It is deep in the woods so hard to avoid it but be prepared. We did have to leave after one night just too many spiders.
Everything was as listed. Although we couldn’t find the swimming hole, I did not ask. We had a lot of excursions we went on with the kids and honestly the water would’ve been too cold for April anyway. The house is secluded but not too far away from civilization. The house is beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our spring break. Nice break for the fast life.
Upon arrival, the property had many issues. The lights in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom did not work, a stove burner was not working, a chair in the living room was broken and there was no working smoke detector. We also experienced the red water that was mentioned in other reviews. The house was in a good location for us but overall the experience was not worth it.
It was a great weekend stay, relatively clean and accommodating. We loved the uniqueness and the history behind the home. My only complaint was only 2 burners on the stove worked, and even those were a struggle to use. No TV’s in the bedrooms. And the silverware was dirty and we had to wash it all before we could use it. So very minor fixable complaints. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we would love to come back some time!

The 1 chair in the living room has both front legs broken and we couldn't use it. The creek boardering the property is a dry creek bed. House was okay but had alot of privacy. Really good if you ride dirt bikes with the riding area next door.

Yes, the creek is dry in the summer and fall. Sorry about the chair,I keep fixing it and it keep breaking. I'm going to give up on it😂
A charming, secluded retreat that worked well for our family visit. It was a short stay for us and we would have liked more time to hike and explore. Dog loved it! Saw lots of deer, right outside the house.

Great host! Great cottage.. they have WiFi now so the comments about not having service is no longer an issue. The property is gorgeous and a short drive into Chattanooga if you want to see the city. Would stay here again when I come back.

You guys are gorgeous thanks for enjoying our lovely home.
This place is amazing! I came in for a wedding in Whitwell and needed a central location for others to stop prior to our meet up. My service pup and I enjoyed the area, the home and the drive to the venue. I plan to come back again as it is the perfect retreat yet within access to conveniences even this vegan needed. Thank you so much for giving access to the amazing place.

The description of the property was deceiving. Property was described as having a creek flowing through the property. Pictures were showing a beautiful flowing creek, in reality, there wasn't a drop of water in the creek channel. It was completely dry. Host should made that completely clear that the creek at times is completely dry. It was very disappointing.

First off I’d like to say this property does NOT have access to the trails training center, the creek is completely dry and we never found any rope swing. While the cabin was beautiful there was a lot of issues like the electrical issue in the upstairs bathroom, the first 2 nights the ac upstairs wouldn’t work. We were disturbed the whole trip by construction that was being done next door and dogs barking the whole time. The construction started every morning at 6-7am so sleeping in was not an option during our trip. We specifically picked this cabin because it had listed that there were all kinds of trails, fishing spots, and swimming spots when that is absolutely not the case at all everything is private property. I was stopped by a friendly neighbor out there and was told that this has been an issue for the past three or four years and the guest here do not have permission to be walking on these trails. My family was walking on private property even after double checking with the home owner before we went out to walk trails. If you’re looking to go hiking do not go to the trails here they are private property and you could be shot from what I was told. This listing is actually falsely advertised because none of the guests have permission to go on private property that she has listed. 1 of my children are special needs so it wasn’t easy for us to pick up an go to another location and the owner didn’t offer any money back after I mentioned these things.

I am as confused as much as you are. The trials training center has always allowed us to use their trails. They rent our cabin out on a regular basis. I will have to check and see what the issue is. We do have hundreds of miles of trails but they're at the end of the cove 1 mile away. And the Sequatchie River never runs dry the creek running beside the house gets dry in the summer. You can swim anytime in the Little Sequatchie at the church camp or at the ford of the river. The ropes swing was flooded out a few years back I forgot it was even on the website.
I wanted to fons a secluded and relaxing escape for the weekend. We traveled in for a triathlon in Chattanooga, and this cabin was perfect! I felt so at peace. It was very clean and Rachel was super responsive. There was no cell service, which was fine for us. The wifi worked great.
