Located “two steps away” from the of city center, the "Varandas do Funchal" is a friendly and welcoming apartment with access to a pleasant swimming pool.
Here, you will be very close to the center of Funchal! It’s location allows you to move, on foot, to the most interesting sights in the city.
This apartment accommodates four people in total, two in a room with a double bed and two in sofa bed, available in the living room. In the common spaces of the building you will find a swimming pool, shared by the condominium, where you can enjoy the good weather and enjoy sunbathing in the company of friends and family!
If you want to rent a car, the building has a garage where you can park.
The house is fully equipped with all amenities.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW
There are several cafes nearby. Most shops, malls and supermarkets are a ten-minute walk away.
This apartment is close to the Farmers Market, Old Town of Funchal and the Cathedral. From here you can explore on foot the various sights of our beautiful city. (eg Cable Car, Funchal Marina, CR7 Museum, Madeira Wine Lodge, etc ...)

GETTING AROUND
For departures and arrivals from the airport, the best option to get to the apartment is the transfer. Contact us in advance to schedule a private transfer car with our local partners. It is cheaper than taking a taxi on your own in the airport!
There are bus stops nearby to get you to the center of Funchal.

Good place to stay

An Island Apart ist obviously keen to keep customers satisfied. The apartment was clean and has all the comfort needed. Not far from the city but not fit vor disabled people (too many steps). The Service was good and fast.

Can Highly Recommend

My family enjoyed a fantastic week in Madeira and were all extremely happy with the apartment. Not only is it a great size, easily accommodating the four of us, it was also in a great location within minutes of the centre of Funchal, a large supermarket as well as the old market, cable car ride and the sea/marina front. Many fabulous restaurants were within a 15 minute walk. We hired a car for two days to tour around the island, and the provided car park spot was ideal - literally one lift stop below the apartment, and easy access via a key controlled electric door. Overall we can all heartily recommend staying here - you will not be disappointed

A piece of tranquillity two steps from Funchal city center

The apartment is located in a quiet residential complex. At night there was no noise from the neighbors or from the city, ideal for those who want tranquility. The location with respect to the historic center is exceptional: in less than 10 minutes you can reach the seafront, but there is the advantage of having a private garage (parking in Funchal is difficult to find and requires a fee). Ground floor apartment, really spacious with a nice little terrace from which you can exit directly to the swimming pool. Gas cooker with a good supply of utensils and a washing machine that is very useful for washing clothes after the long walks in Madeira.

A very good apartment

It was nice to spend a week there. Everything needed was in the apartment. It was clean. Good location. Close to bus stop, also to that one where a bus from the airport stops. About 7minutes to the supermarket and 10minutes to the street with many cafes. The team was in contact in advance and provided their watsapp for communucation. The only problem was to go up from the main road. There are just a couple minutes to go up which is no problem for young people at all, but can be not that easy for seniors.

I enjoyed my stay in this lovely spacious apartment. The terrace gets sun in the morning. There was a funny, curious cat roaming the garden that made breakfast entertaining. I didn't get into the pool as I found it too cold but it was very well maintained and clean. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen had all the common appliances. The fridge makes a loud sound periodically but easy to ignore. Regarding the leakage in the shower, this is because there's a small slit between the glass screen and the bathtub and I fixed it by sliding a towel into the slit. No more water on the floor! The apartment is located on a steel hill, so may not be ideal for those who find it difficult to walk up hills but shouldn't be a problem if you have a car. There's a garage as well. The apartment is a 10 min walk from the city center and supermarkets. I would highly recommend this apartment.

Das Appartement war sehr abgewohnt und hätte dringend eine Renovierung nötig. Es gab viel zu wenig Schränke oder Haken um mal etwas aufzuhängen. Die Terrasse ist nur für zwei Personen geeignet, obwohl das Appartement für 4 Personen ist. Direkt vor der Anlage wurde ein neues Haus gebaut, dadurch viel Baulärm und Sichtbeschränkung. Aber das wussten wir vorher und hat uns nicht so sehr gestört. Lage war super 👍.

Top Wohnung, aber schlechte Kommunikation beim Check In

Die Wohnung top ausgestattet. Wir hatten einen Pool und Meerblick. Leider auch eine Baustelle vor der Tür, aber es war in der Gegend immer noch überraschend ruhig. Die Möbel sind etwas älter, aber okay. Was nicht okay war, war das Personal für den Check-in. Die abgemachte Zeit zur Schlüsselübergabe wurde nicht ansatzweise eingehalten. Statt um 18 Uhr, kamen wir erst um 19.20 Uhr in die Wohnung. Statt gesagt wurde, dass es noch mindestens eine Stunde dauert, bekamen wir die Info, dass er noch einen anderen Check In macht und dann sofort kommt. Ich bezweifle, dass es nur einer war. Die Kommunikation war schlecht. Auch bei der Zentrale, nur Ausreden, obwohl ich nette Verbesserungsvorschläge gab, wie z.B. Schlüsselsysteme einzurichten um Personal zu entlasten. Leider hat es den Aufenthalt versaut. Auch die zig Formulare zum Ausfüllen davor und danach. Ein entspannter Urlaub war es nicht.

O apartamento tem tudo o que é preciso, desde máquina de lavar roupa, de louça, máquina de café, secador de cabelo, estendal. Tinha detergentes para as máquinas, para a alouça, café, sal, pimenta, azeite e vinagre. A piscina é muito boa com água agradável, talvez com o máximo de 1,50m de altura. Fica a 5m a pé do centro do Funchal, descendo a rua vamos ter ao famoso Mercado dos Lavradores. No regresso é a subir... umas escadinhas ou uma subida íngreme: bom para fazer exercício! Cheguei com um pé magoado e um funcionário, um jovem muito simpático emprestou-me as suas canadianas/muletas e havia gelo no congelador! Vale a pena!

wij hebben hier een maand verbleven, was een top vakantie. enige minpuntjes, het zwembad was kapot, dus daar konden we jammer genoeg geengebruik van maken (hebben wel een compensatie gekregen maar bleef toch jammer) en dan......... die berg omhoog, niet te doen. we waren telkens kapot als we boven waren.Prachtige ligging maar een hel om er te geraken. als je iets ouder bent zou ik toch twee keer nadenken. voor de rest kan je over kleine prullen zagen, maar daar heb ik geen behoefte aan, vriendelijke groeten Maria

Perfect solution for Madeira stay

The apartment was a super solution to our stay in Madeira. A very quite and safe area, in the same time super close to the Funchal cafe&bars area, as well as to the harbor / walking distance! We felt there as in our own home - all utensils to our use, cute little balcony for breakfasts & dinners with a pool view :) Our IslandApart contact person was super responsive, kind and helpful. We could count on him with no issue - everything was explained very well & we were well taken care of. Garage included makes it all easy - it's better to rent a car if you wish to really see everything that Madeira has in store for adventure lovers. To sum up: We recommend IslandApart very much, and this place even more :)

Parfait !

Location très bien placée par rapport au centre ville et lieux d'intérêt de funchal, dans une résidence avec piscine agréable ! Parking très pratique quand on prévois de rayonner dans l'île. L'appartement est particulièrement bien équipé (lave linge, lave-vaisselle..). Nous y retournerons avec plaisir en cas de nouveau séjour à funchal !
