A really super, bright brick and flint cottage in the quiet village of Wighton, enjoying wonderful long distance open rural views and within easy reach of coastal resorts and many local attractions.
Gallery Cottage is the annexe of the original village School House which became the home of the sculptor Henry Moore in the 1920's and later the renowned American painter, Alfred Cohen and his family. In 1983 The School House Art Gallery opened, which has gained a well-respected reputation for showing contemporary art of the highest quality. The adjoining annexe was totally renovated in Spring 2018 and now stands proud in its own right as a very comfortable and stylish holiday cottage with two en-suite bedrooms (double and twin), and an airy open-plan living space, with exposed original brick and flint wall, overlooking the garden and fields beyond.
With an en suite bedroom on each floor, Gallery Cottage will appeal to couples, singles and friends who enjoy their privacy and independence. It's an ideal spot for walkers, bird watchers, and indeed artists and art lovers - though they might find the temptation of an art gallery next door a bit too hard to resist! Gallery Cottage is suitable for a small family with older children.

The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the area being close to Wells, Cromer and Sherringham. It had everything we needed. The food at the Carpenters Arms in the village is highly recommended. The views from the cottage are superb and we enjoyed watching the hares and the pheasants in the fields.

Beautifully located attractive accommodation for four people
We really enjoyed our holiday at Gallery Cottage. It is very centrally located for most of the North Norfolk Coast and it's attractions. The village of Wighton is lovely and the cottage was well equipped with all that we needed. A minor problem was immediately rectified by the owner/neighbour. Would definitely recommend.

Great location and peaceful
Gallery cottage is light and airy with great views from the rear of the property. The owners gallery next door has some fabulous artworks from a range of talented artists. The cottage is very practical for a family member with a mobility difficulty as the ground floor has a kitchen/lounge/diner and bedroom/bathroom all one one level - which is one of the reasons we chose it to take my mother on holiday. The kitchen is properly equipped for keen cooks, but if you want a night off the village pub serves really excellent food with good local draught beers and a good value wine list.
The area has a huge variety of wildlife both inland and at the coast which we really enjoyed. We would like to return in the future to do the things we couldn't fit into a week.

Lovely stay
This property is well situated if you like countryside with plenty of lovely walks, and views of farmland from the back garden. The property itself is lovely, ideal for 2 couples or a couple with older children, as one of the bedrooms is on the ground floor. both bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms.
It is only a short distance from Wells-next to Sea and other places of interest.
The only downside is that the village itself is now nearly all holiday lets so is very quiet for most of the year, which means there is no local shop within walking distance, and the pub only opens on certain days, and the food is not exactly cheap. That said, would stay there again as it is such a lovely situation.
Property was clean and very comfortable. Garden very peaceful, the jasmine flowers were out and the scent wonderful. We went out to many different venues but always felt that we were 'at home' when we returned. We did not use the cooker, washing machine or dishwasher but it was there if we needed it. Yes, the property was perfect for our needs and gave us more than we expected. Thank you.

Very good, comfortable stay.
We were two mature couples, enjoying a weeks holiday in North Norfolk. The cottage and Wighton suited us very well, being in a quiet location, within walking distance of the Carpenters Arms, which served good food and ale.
The cottage was fine, with a nice garden, patio, and outlook over fields.
Being only three miles from Wells with the beach and facilities, it was well located for visits to the local sites of interest.
Highlights of our week were visits to the Gallery next door, and our very interesting conversation with Mrs Cohen, widow of the famous painter Alfred Cohen. We also learnt of the connection of the Old school house with Sir Henry Moore. The church, Priory ruins, and raw milk shop at Binham were new to us and interesting.

A beautiful peaceful modern cottage
Gallery Cottage has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. There are two ensuite bedrooms. Both are spacious and comfy. Upstairs, is a double bed with fantastic views of rural Norfolk. Downstairs the bedroom has two single beds.
There are lots of things to do from Gallery Cottage. It’s just two miles from Wells next the Sea with individual shops as well as a Coop so shopping is easy.
We love the walking along the coast and watching the birds. Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall and Felbrigg Hall are worth visiting for a good day out.
Wighton is a charming Norfolk village and the Carpenters arms offers great food and ale.
The unique interest for our stay at Gallery Cottage was the gallery adjacent with wonderful pictures by the late Alfred Cohen as well as contemporary artists. The cottage has some of these pictures on the wall to give inspiration.

A Lovely Place To Stay
Gallery Cottage is in a quiet, but convenient location - ideal for rest and relaxation. It is comfortable and equipped adequately, although one small niggle was lack of shelving in the master bedroom's bathroom and a fairly basic supply of cutlery, crockery and utensils. However, this was hardly a problem for just two people.
Certainly a beautiful little retreat, which I would have no hesitation in booking again.

Let down by poor WiFi
We chose this property because it was advertised as having WiFi which we needed for work but the WiFi didn’t work for much of the week we were there. The property doesn’t have its own router and relies on a signal from next door. Norfolk Hideaways just said Norfolk was patchy with WiFi but we’ve stayed all over North Norfolk and never had problems. It shouldn’t be advertised as having WiFi. Overall the property is fine and comfortable but needs some more furniture in both bedrooms. Excellent kitchen.
