Popa cottage is a spacious, modern, three-bedroom holiday home at Harlyn Bay, Cornwall, just a short, two-minute walk to one of Britain’s most beautiful sandy beaches, perfect for surfing, long walks and picnics and close to idyllic Padstow. No need to get the car out to go to the beach! Dogs are welcome in the cottage and on the beach!

Located at ‘Polmark Beach Cottages’ a small complex of accommodation surrounded by stunning rural scenery, Popa provides a tranquil and cosy base to relax after a day at the beach. Perfect for families or small groups of friends, the cottage comprises open plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, including a master en-suite.

Derek and Steph have recently acquired this cottage and whilst it is an ideal holiday home they plan to continue a programme of home improvements to make the cottage even better. A new kitchen and family bathroom have been installed and the patio area has been decked with a comfy rattan-styled corner suite added. The cottage has everything you might need and is close to some super eateries. (Cornish Arms, The Pig Hotel and Duchy Grub!).

Dogs are welcome in the cottage as well as on the beach.

Lock patio doors and remove key. Exit from front (courtyard) door. Use keys from keysafe to lock front door. Return keys to keysafe. Next guest will use keys in keysafe to open the front door!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please do not charge an EV using the domestic electricity supply. There are public charging points at Padstow Petrol and Padstow Tesco

The photos do not do the place justice! It was so clean and tidy and every little thing has been thought about. All the beds slept in were very comfy. Not very far from the beach at all and we are definitely hoping to come back again next year.

Although it doesn’t have views, it was a very short walk to the beach which was great- no hassle with parking or traffic . The accommodation was very nice and the new kitchen made it feel bright and summery . Had all the things one needed (except a tea pot!) . Harlyn Beach was excellent- good surf , life guards during summer , a cafe/bar/ at the beach side .

We have stayed here a number of times. The house is well situated, quiet and a short stroll to the beach. It has everything thing you need. It is very clean. I even met and thanked the ladies who keep it that way on a weekly basis. The owners are a delight to deal with. It is my happy place.

Fabulous cottage

We spent 10 days in this delightful and well equipped cottage. We were only two people so plenty of room, but it would have been comfortable for a small family. The kitchen had all we needed, the deck out the back was a great little sun trap, and the cottage is a two minute walk to Harlyn Bay. There is a bus to NewQuay and Padstow right on the doorstep. We loved this cottage and would definitely stay again.

Lovely accommodation in a great location, really close to the beautiful beach at Harlyn Bay. The cottage had everything we needed, the owners have thought of everything. Only criticism is it could have been a bit cleaner. Nothing drastic - crumbs on the worktops and a bit dusty. We had a great week and would definitely return.

Family holiday in Cornwall

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Popa Cottage. The cottage is well positioned in the beautiful village of Harlyn. The accommodation includes very comfortable beds and reclining sofas, super showers, a brilliant kitchen with everything you need (which you don't always find in holiday homes!) and a lovely sunny courtyard garden, which is well protected from the coastal winds. Derek, the host, made booking and arrival very straightforward, and the wine, biscuits and dog treats were a lovely surprise! We highly recommended it!

More spacious than expected, really clean/tidy and well appointed / equipped with Cornishware and capsule coffee machine plus practical things like Tupperware/foil, selection of herbs/spices, proper washing up liquid and more than one dishwasher tablet! Host quick to respond to query beforehand and we appreciated flexible check-in and easy parking after a long journey. Nice communal BBQ area and outside shower. Loved the location - close to dog friendly beach with cafe/bar and shop only 5mins drive away. WiFi was a bit flaky but thankfully wasn’t a priority for us on this visit. Thank you for a lovely week!

Stunning beach nearby

The property contained everything that one could possibly need. We also appreciated the welcoming touches of a bottle of wine for the adults and treats for the dog! The slightly acrid aroma from the master bathroom toilet was a little strong but suspect that this is something that cannot be overcome and was not caused by any lack of hygiene. There were a few areas where the cleaner had missed the spot - those dusty corners we all miss no matter how good our cleaning might be. I would suggest that the owners log the last user out of Netflix and Prime. Overall the property was excellent and we would definitely condider a return visit!

Just returned from a weeks stay. Really enjoyed it. The accommodation was spacious and well equipped and clean. Beds very comfortable. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk away which really added to our enjoyment. It’s a beautiful beach which is also dog friendly. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others. The only thing we maybe found less than ideal was the lack of enclosed outdoor space for the dog at the cottage. Wasn’t a huge problem. We walked him so much he was glad to sleep when in the cottage! But it did mean that we couldn’t leave the door open in the warm weather. Just something to bear in mind if this may be an issue for you but otherwise was faultless. Thank you for such a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Beautiful setting. Nice property with everything you need. Bathrooms both had great showers and beds comfy so not much else required for a week at the seaside. Only issue was Property not overly clean which was a disappointment especially when you can’t check in until 4pm due to cleaners. Food under sofas and lots of cobwebs / dust. Shame as with a proper clean this would have been a 5star review for everything. Would definitely book again though

Having spent many family holidays in Cornwall Steph and Derek recently bought this beautiful holiday home just 200m from their favourite beach at Harlyn Bay. When the property is not being used by holiday-makers Steph and Derek take advantage of the breaks to stay at the cottage and relax into the Cornish lifestyle enjoying long walks with their dog on the beach and along the coastal paths.

Why they chose this property

Popa is close enough to the sea that you can carry your board to the beach and pop back for coffee or lunch whenever you want to. The cottage has all the facilities you need to prepare food like you would at home and there is even a bar-b-que area close by to add to the holiday atmosphere. Both the cottage and the beach are dog friendly. The cottage is tucked away so you can get a peaceful night's sleep in preparation for the next day's adventures

Just 200m from the beach. Quiet secluded location. Adjacent parking for two cars. Modern kitchen. Comfortable dining area. Spacious lounge with TV/DVD/Wifi. Hall and separate toilet.
