About this property
Old Cavaglia Mill
The end mill "800, immersed in the woods of Valsesia (650mt s. L.m.), is located in a magical atmosphere, at the foot of Monte Rosa.
A magical and splendid place, an area of ancient legends and traditions that boasts ancient origins, perhaps Etruscan, certainly Celtic, between the narrow streets and the woods, there are several legends that are whispered and repeated.
Silence, tranquility, total privacy make our location the ideal place to spend moments of authentic relaxation, passion and magic.
Surrounded by a stream and woods, the mill is equipped with all comforts: satellite TV, free wi-fi, telephone, tiled stove, wood-burning fireplace, shower overlooking the stream, etc.
Our service is expressed through confidentiality, care and preparation of the house. You will be welcomed by a warm and welcoming environment and by the flame of the burning fireplace.
Feel at home without having to ask anyone if not when it is necessary (a person will be at your disposal for any request).
We wish you an unforgettable stay in the center of one of the few super volcanoes left in the world.
Ski 20 minutes by car on the Alpe di Mera.
Go shopping in the homeland of cashmere, visiting the various factories and outlets of the world famous surroundings (LoroPiana, Agnona, etc).
Visit the romantic places nearby. The mill is located between Borgosesia and Varallo, 10Km from both, 20Km from Lake Orta, 40Km from Lake Maggiore, near the Walser villages of Rimella, Fobello, Carcoforo, Rima, Rossa, Rassa, Riva Valdobbia, Alagna, etc.
The Monrosa area, famous all over the world for its activities including traditional skiing, extreme skiing, off-piste skiing and mountaineering (the Regina Margherita refuge with its 4. 554mt is the highest in Europe).
The Sesia river, among the most beautiful places in the world for fans of kayaking, rafting, canyoning, hydrospeed, etc ...
Returning to the mill, it was completely renovated in 2010, thanks to the use of bio-architecture materials (cork, wood, stone, terracotta, lime, etc.), it has retained its original charm.
The mill is spread over 4 levels: - the ground floor with living room and kitchen- the mezzanine with sofa bed and bathroom- the lounge with sofa beds and fireplace- a second mezzanine with 4 beds and exposed roof.
The fenced garden of about 1,000 square meters unleashes all its magic at nightfall when the scenographic lights come on.
Some info:
On September 5, 2013, on the occasion of the 12th European conference of geoparks, thanks to the research of Prof. Silvano Sinigoi (University of Trieste) and Prof. James Quick (Dallas university), the fossil supervolcano of Valsesia has been certified, the only case in the world where the deepest parts of a volcano (recognized by UNESCO) are visible: Agnona, Pratosesia, Balmuccia are some of the sites close to the mill where to observe the mega rocks of this supervolcano.
Quarona: the town closest to the mill, where you can find various supermarkets, pizzerias, tobacconists, post office, etc.
Borgosesia: of Roman origins, famous above all for the textile sector.
On Mount Tucri, there is the church of San Giovanni Battista from 398 AD, one of the oldest in Valsesia.
Varallo: historical and cultural capital of Valsesia. Take a tour of its narrow streets and typical shops. Also worth seeing is the sacred mountain (called, the little jerusalem).
Lake Orta: to visit especially the island of San Giulio (with its way of silence).
Carcoforo: among the smallest Italian municipalities, located in one of the most beautiful fir and larch basins. From which numerous treeking paths start.
Rassa: a village that has remained immaculate with houses overlooking the stream, also famous for its traditional cuisine.
Alagna: the last village in Valsesia, at the foot of Monterosa, an ancient Walser community.
Valsesia is also known for Frà Dolcino and the heretical apostles, these, in suspicion of heresy and already condemned by Pope Honorius IV in 1,286, were repressed by the Catholic Church. Dolcino was burned at the stake, enduring all the torments with uncommon resistance, without ever shouting or complaining.
A person of our trust will welcome you on your arrival and will be available during your stay for any eventuality.
