Regarding the stairs, here’s a bit of historical context: the apartment is located in the Latin Quarter, one of the oldest parts of Paris. Buildings in this neighborhood were constructed centuries ago, typically with narrow staircases. When elevators were introduced much later, there often wasn’t enough space to install them. Parisians are quite accustomed to this and see it as part of the charm of living in a historic building. That said, we understand it’s not ideal for everyone, and we wouldn’t recommend this apartment to guests who need or strongly prefer elevator access—newer buildings in Paris are better suited for that. For those who don’t mind the stairs, however, many guests find the experience rewarding and agree that “the view is worth the climb.” Sincerely, Paul

Regarding the stairs, this is the Latin Quarter, one of the oldest and most historic parts of Paris. Many of the buildings, including ours, were built centuries ago with narrow staircases. When elevators were introduced later, there simply wasn't enough space to install one. We're also pleased to hear that the neighborhood noise wasn't an issue for you, as is the case for most of our guests. The area is very central, charming, and lively, which is part of its unique atmosphere. On weekends, the nearby bars can make it less practical to keep the windows open in summer, but the apartment is equipped with soundproof windows that do an excellent job of reducing outside noise when closed, and the curtains provide additional comfort. As you noted, they can feel steep and narrow. This is typical of the historic Latin Quarter, where buildings were constructed centuries ago, long before elevators existed, and space simply didn’t allow for them to be added later. Stairs were also narrow as the cost for building wider ones was very high and they used a lot of space. For many, this is part of the authentic Parisian experience, and they often feel that the view is well worth the climb—though we absolutely recognize it may not suit everyone. Hope to host you again!
