I am a farmer & retired theater nurse. I am the 4th generation of my family to live on and work this farm. My great grand parents were evicted from the farm and fortified farmhouse , in August 1888, during the Irish land war but bought it back again later - hence the historical name, from that time, "Somers Fort".

Why they chose this property

" Hogan's Cottage" was originally an old cow byre, converted using mostly original and some locally sourced materials in 2000 as our millennium project. It still has some exposed stone walls, old wooden beams and an old slate floor , retaining much of its character - at the same time it was also fitted out with a new central heating system and all modern conveniences.
