A lovely cottage and very well looked after.
A lovely cottage and very well looked after. Maybe too close to the main road if we were to return with children. Bit for a weekend away for a couple it was really good.
Does not include the entire cottage as shown in the pictures. Two internal doors locked and oven is very temperamental. Cleanliness is not great and some items are very old and dirty which could do with replacing. On arrival owner was rude and not very helpful, no instructions of how to make the toilet flush until owner curtly replied have you tried pumping it! Booked for two nights but only stayed for one. Would not recommend.

Clean & comfortable.
Clean & comfortable. Minor items missing in kitchen if cooking for yourself eg: vegetable peeler & small sharp knife; dishes suitable for microwave. Car needed to drive to walks & bicycle routes but we knew that. Enjoyable stay & would return.

Our hosts made us welcome by email and when we arrived, social distancing.
Our hosts made us welcome by email and when we arrived, social distancing. We really loved being at walnut. We had never stayed at a thatched cottage before and it was a very pleasant experience. We also enjoyed watching the wildlife in our host's garden through the window, early mornings. The area was very quiet and it was very easy to get to the shops and coastal areas such as Bournmouth. We would recommend this cottage to any one wanting a short or longer stay.

The cottage and it’s owners are lovely.
The cottage and it’s owners are lovely. It’s well equipped for anything you could need, lots of hot water and a very comfy 5’ bed. It’s quiet, homely, compact but not too small. The only negative it’s the location. It’s on a main road. You can’t walk anywhere, you need to take the car everywhere. In spite of this I would still recommend this property. It’s convenient for anywhere in that part of the country.

The host Jeremy was pleasant and helpful and the cottage is very pretty.
The host Jeremy was pleasant and helpful and the cottage is very pretty. The grounds / garden are shared with the family, including young children and others renting the other cottages on site.
One major disadvantage of the cottage is the single downstairs toilet and steep staircase with low ceiling. Using the toilet at night was a potential hazard for us older folk needing the toilet at night and having to descend the stairs.
The cottage could have been cleaner. Having need to plug into a socket for a medical appliance at the bed side I found the extension lead to the bedside lamps covered in heavy dust behind the bed. We also had to report a mouse / shrew in the kitchen - although when we reported the sighting the host acted immediately bringing in a professional pest controller.
The kitchen could have been better equipped and particularly the lack of a grill for the cooker.

This is a small but cosy two person cottage.
This is a small but cosy two person cottage. There are low ceilings because of the thatched roof. The only negative issue is the lack of Wifi.

The cottage was in a good location close to the New Forest and Sandyballs.
The cottage was in a good location close to the New Forest and Sandyballs. Fordingbridge was a beautiful little town which was within a 25 minute walk.
The cottage itself was warm and comfortable. I had twins with me and they were catered for with cots and high chairs. The bedroom was comfortable and you will have a good sleep. My only criticism is the fact the kitchen was a bit dirty and needed to have a bit of a clean. The bathroom also needs a bit of a refresh as it was a bit dated like the kitchen. Apart from that we had a great time. The host was accommodating and I would come back to stay again.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is that there were more kitchen utensils ie more knives, a potato peeler and a measuring jug, simply because we ate quite a bit in at night.

Great cottage, perfect for a couple or small family.
Great cottage, perfect for a couple or small family. My husband and I had a fabulous time with our two year old. It's in an ideal location with plenty to do nearby, my toddler loved the large garden to run around in. Jeremy was very helpful and informative and included a welcome pack of food which was very useful. Would highly recommend :)

I only spent a few days here but wish it could have been longer.
I only spent a few days here but wish it could have been longer. The owner was very welcoming and has provided everything you need including lots of information about local places to visit. A welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs, butter, jam was most appreciated. There are nice walks from the cottage as well as being an ideal base to explore the wider area. There is a stop for the New Forest hop on hop off bus just a short walk down the road. There is a lovely garden to sit and enjoy the peaceful evenings. I would happily stay here again.
