What can I say, what an incredible lodge to stay in! We didn't arrive till late because of the late
What can I say, what an incredible lodge to stay in! We didn't arrive till late because of the late check in time due to covid but we walked through the door to a welcoming, cosey atmosphere set off by the log fire burning away, what a perfect first impression. As it was dark on arrival waking up and seeing the beautiful surrounds was a breath of fresh air, especially the secluded private grounds which the dog loved and was perfect to enjoy sitting outdoors with a morning coffee. We met Graeme the following morning and although it was strange due to needing to keep a safe distance to introduce ourselves, it was still a friendly visit. The lodge really does have everything you need so there's no need to pack your car, but it may be worth bring a few toilet rolls until you can head 10-15 mins drive into the town for a bit of shopping. There really isn't alot to do in the area, nonetheless we researched and knew this prior to booking as the trip was really just to wind down especially in the strange times 2020 brought. The pubs that are 10 minutes walk away are nice and quiet although I wouldn't recommend wasting money on food in either personally, if you can drive 5 minutes away go to the pub called fox hall Inn as it's such a step above and welcoming pub that serves great food too! (Although it was a bit expensive after a few days, we didn't fancy cooking 24/7 so was worth the money with a better selection of drinks in offer too) the hot tub-amazing way to finish the day! Even though your at the bottom of the owners house it still felt private and great way to have a couple of beers in every night. There's a bit of building work happening beside the lodge which the owners gave us much warning of but this genuinely wasn't a huge issue as we didn't even really notice it inside the lodge, so I wouldn't let it put you off! Finally, the only real disappointing thing was the 5pm check in and 9am check out as it felt rushed and to a certain extent we missed out on a day. That said value for the money we left really happy with the overall stay and would definitely look to stay again if visiting the area. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
