A beautiful, character filled cottage, fully equipped with everything you need. We had a fantastic time, surrounded by such beautiful countryside and had amazing views from the cottage. The track up to the cottage is steep so on motorbikes it was a little tricky but I (as a passenger) walked up and down the track to help and I found it a lovely peaceful walk and quite enjoyed that bit too. We met the shepherd who tended the sheep around us and on some days the host was about working with the sheep too. They all came to say hello and were all incredible friendly, made us feel very welcome and seems to enjoy having us around. They even helped out with offering to keep the bikes in a barn in rainy weather and lending us a drill when we needed to do some running repairs. An overall rustic, peaceful and fantastic place to stay.. We would most definitely return

We’ve stayed in hotels which all had amazing service, but the generosity, accommodating nature of the owners of Hen Hafod stands out over all of those. The owners are lovely and went out of their way to make a break in rural Wales really special for our daughter who has only known the busy life of England. The cottage is sited in an ideal location for small kids - next to a farm, with fields of sheep and cows (who provided fun and companionship for our daughter), and is within 45/50 minutes of some amazing attractions across the Snowdonia area, and North West of Wales. Certainly worth a visit - our week here has made for wonderful memories. Thank you to the owners for all that they did for us and helping to make memories that will last a lifetime.

The cottage is full of character features.
The cottage is full of character features. It is also very peaceful and quiet in the surrounding area( only me and the sheep😁)
Unfortunately the cottage needs some TLC. I found that 1/3 of the bulbs in the property did not work and no replacements. The cooker worked but it was difficult to use as there were no markings on it.due to its old age.
The one thing I found odd was that there was no welcome pack with up to date information.
The place in my opinion was not very clean at all.
But on a positive note the owner was pleasant and sorted the problem of leaking heating pipes as quick as she could. Although I did have to wait in for the plumber and give him access.
I would recommend this cottage if it was cleaned properly and some of the unnecessary furniture in the down stairs bathroom and kitchen area were taken out or hidden away.
It could also benefit from outside lighting.
