Originally built in 1825 as a ruin, this unique Grade II listed building has been sympathetically transformed into two lovely, detached gatehouses yet retaining all the visual appearances of a ruin. Built in stone from Filey Brigg, The Follies are set in 3/4 acres of natural grounds and visitors are welcome to wander through them, where there is an abundance of wildlife including, rabbits, owls and squirrels. This property also allows up to one pet, meaning your furry friend can enjoy the holiday too.

Centrally located for exploring the North Yorkshire coast, moors and wolds, the historic town of Filey is only 3 miles distant, with its wide sandy beach and all the attractions of a popular seaside resort. Scarborough and Bridlington are both easily accessible, as is the beautiful city of York. There is a 9-hole golf course locally, fishing available nearby, and an RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs providing interest for bird-watchers. There are plenty of local shops and pubs within walking distance, and good railway links. Shop 500 yards.

The accommodation was very clean with all amenities we required, including beautiful surroundings. A welcoming bottle of wine and chocolates was a lovely touch. This was our second stay at The Follies and we will definitely be back. It is a unique place with lovely character. The host is excellent, friendly and in close proximity, but not intrusive. The location is perfect for access to amazing beaches and seaside towns all along the coast. The accommodation is really comfy, warm, well equipped and the only thing we missed was good wifi access. Lovely cottage from the outside you would not think there were two cottages. Very impressed, spotless clean, everything you could possibly need. Lovely and warm considering the brickwork being so thick. Land at the back to exercise our dog. Great village with lovely pubs selling excellent food, a delicatessen and other shops. Five minutes from the main road to all the coastal towns. Highly recommend and will hopefully be back.
