About this property
2 bedroom accommodation in Shieldaig
Boasting fantastic facilities, this detached coastal property with a woodburner is perfect to relax and unwind. Close to shop and pub.. Rubha Lodge is an outstanding holiday home that everyone will love and want to return to, and many do. This detached property is everything you want from a holiday home. Once you arrive at Torridon, there are just 6 miles left to go to Shieldaig, where Rubha Lodge awaits. It’s acknowledged to be one of the best scenic drives in the world, and perhaps one of the slowest, as there are so many photo opportunities to stop for.
Entering Rubha’s front door, you come into a useful area with space for coats/boots. The heart of Rubha Lodge is the large open plan living space, which incorporates the amazing picture window and wood burner. This room is truly special and makes the most of the setting and abundance of light and picture views. This large space is perfect to relax and enjoy a meal, a movie, or simply enjoying the sea view. Opposite is Shieldaig Island, which is home to nesting sea eagles– binoculars supplied! For the bird lovers, you will also see many other bird species alongside seals and otters. A few steps up, you will find a fully equipped large kitchen, fitted with a new kitchen island with seating to create a great social space to be together. Off the kitchen is a utility room and a shower room. Also, downstairs is the main bathroom with a shower, roll top bath and toilet.
Follow the stairs up to the landing, where you will find a small office area with a desk for those times when you may need to work.
There are 2 large bedrooms, both very spacious, with more views. Bedroom one has a superking-sized bed, a dressing table, a TV with 2 viewing windows and more views. Next door is the second bedroom, again a very spacious room with a king-size bed, a single bed, and a TV. There is an upstairs bathroom with a toilet and sink.
Outside is a small walled garden. There are some outdoor chairs to sit and enjoy the view of the island and the pretty village.
Rubha Lodge does have its own shingle beach, which is a bit of a scramble down to, but a nice place to sit and enjoy a picnic.
A short walk into the village, you will find a hotel, restaurant (Seafood and pizza oven), pub and village stores. A few doors down, you will find Nannies where you can find the best squat lobster sandwiches, homemade soups & cakes and a fantastic cup of coffee. Also, in the village you can pick up fresh smoked salmon, pate and delicious dill sauce. There is also a local fisherman who will do his best to secure some of the local “prawns “ (langoustines) and squat lobsters for you to enjoy at home with advance notice (his contact details at the house).. 1 step to entrance.
