Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this semi-detached cottage is situated on the banks of the River Aire between the Malhamdale villages of Kirkby Malham and Hanlith. It enjoys 8 acres of shared grounds in an idyllic setting where you can simply park your car and explore the Dales from the door! Enjoying a quiet location down a private drive, this cottage, originally built in 1792, forms part of an exclusive development of a former cotton mill and workers’ cottages.
The River Aire feeds the mill pond and leat, which adds charm and life to the grounds – a bird spotters’ paradise. The mill pond retains many of its original gates to manage the flow and a small bridge towards the end of the land crosses the head gates to the pond. There is a communal garden to the front of the mill with space to sit and enjoy the river and weir. In addition there is a small private woodland, shared by the residents of Scalegill.
Malham Cove, with its limestone amphitheatre and the gorge of Gordale Scar, are within easy (10-minute) walking distance, as is Malham Tarn, one of the largest natural areas of water in Yorkshire. Alternatively, the market towns of Settle and Skipton are close by and offer a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The Settle to Carlisle Railway Line is renowned as one of the most beautiful lines in the country and, on occasion, offers travel by steam train. Skipton enjoys a wide, sweeping High Street with a Norman castle standing guard at the top. The Leeds-Liverpool canal traverses Skipton and outlying villages, with canal day trips from Skipton a great alternative way to view the area. Farm shop 2 miles, pub/restaurant ¾ mile.

We loved everything about Miller Cottage - its location in beautiful surroundings at the end of a quiet lane, the spaciousness of the accommodation, the separate dining area, log burner, quirky artwork and being able to walk from the cottage to the two nearest pubs. Definitely a cottage that we would like to stay in another time.
Fabulous location and only a 20 minute walk to Malham across fields. (Lister Arms provided great beer and food) The cottage is excellent and the location was perfect for a peaceful break with wonderful walks on the doorstep. Our terrier refused to get in the car when we were leaving. Definitely recommend.
Fabulous location with stunning views and walks from the door close to numerous villages and short walk to pub. Stylish and cosy decoration had everything we needed could not be more perfect will be returning . It would be helpful to be able to message the owner or property manager - as I tried through the app to no avail.

Cottage too cold - heating needs to be on all day when staying over winter, and as it wasn't we found the lounge far too cold. We can see why they have four blankets in the lounge, they were needed & used! Cleanliness was poor, snail on the inside of lounge window, cobwebs in other areas. Prosecco as a welcome pack was nice, but where is the milk, loaf or cake that normally makes a welcome pack! Could do with a torch and candles - there was a short power cut but no provisions to deal with this, luckily a neighbour came to our aid with candles/matches. We did love the remote location, very peaceful.

Beautiful setting, lovely walks straight from the door.
Beautiful setting, lovely walks straight from the door. Cottage very clean and comfortable. Access via a very narrow track with no passing places so always hopeful noone coming the other way.
Heating a bit erratic, timings need to be adjusted for the time of year.
Did feel a little uncomfortable leaving spare key in key safe when we went out at the owners request considering our possessions and valuables were in the cottage. Never been asked to do this before and to be honest not entirely happy with it, for that reason would not return

Surprisingly spacious cottage in a beautiful location, perfectly situated for visiting Malhamdale & surrounding areas of the Dales. Short walk to either Malham village or Kirkby Malham, both with dog-friendly pubs. Well-equipped kitchen, large living room, plenty of useful walking books & guides. Only thing lacking was a hairdryer.

A lovely cottage in rural location.
A lovely cottage in rural location. Great walks from the doorstep. I would recommend an online supermarket delivery as nearest shops are a little drive away. You can walk to several pubs which are all dog friendly.

Absolutely loved this place.
Absolutely loved this place. It was located in a perfect spot with a mile walk along a flat public footpath to Malham where there were three dog-friendly pubs. Probably the best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed in; the owners had thought of everything. We really loved the little enclosed terrace which was south-facing and so a lovely little sun trap. The first night we felt a bit cold, but other than that, it couldn't have been more perfect.

Wow! I loved it mainly because of the location.
Wow! I loved it mainly because of the location. It’s beautiful and so near to Malham and we enjoyed the 20 minute walk across the fields to the village.
We have a dog so it’s difficult to find some where that is dog friendly and Fred enjoyed all the local walks, even though he had to stay on the lead because there are sheep every where.
If you like walking, enjoy pub food and want to stay some where clean, well equipped and peaceful then I recommend
WiFi works very well too.

We have just returned home following our second visit to Miller Cottage, not our last I hope! We have been regular visitors to Malham since 1987, Miller Cottage has been the most comfortable and memorable appointment by far out of all of those visits. No quibles.

Well located cottage with beautiful views.
Well located cottage with beautiful views. The neighbours were lovely and helped us to find our way around. We loved that you can walk into Malham along the public footpath behind the cottage. Malham Cove, Gorsdale Scar and Malham Tarn were all excellent and were right on our doorstep. The Victoria pub near the cottage had a cosy fire, games to play with the family and good beer! There are some good pubs in Malham too. Would highly recommend.
