We very much enjoyed our stay at Oak Cottage.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Oak Cottage. The place was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, a nice touch being the welcome gifts for humans and dogs. The property is well situated being a fairly short walk to the beach and an easy drive to explore the surrounding area. The village is lovely and we enjoyed walks along the river and to the castle. The only minor negative was nowhere to charge an electric toothbrush (we had to buy a plug adapter.) We would definitely recommend this property and would be happy to stay there again in the future.

Oake Cottage is a cosy place to stay.
Oake Cottage is a cosy place to stay. It was spotless. A proper home from home with everything you could possibly need. The location was ideal. Easy access to the village. Lovely walks from the door. Choice of a river walk, beach walk. Alnwick 7 miles away - Barter Books a must to visit. Amble just a mile away by road. But just round the corner from the Cottage Mason’s Arms. Excellent food. Highly recommended.

Loved our second stay in really comfortable cottage, beautifully presented.
Loved our second stay in really comfortable cottage, beautifully presented. The welcome gifts for us and our dog were greatly enjoyed. Ideal location near to the river for lovely walks. The Masons Arms, and The Hermitage pubs to highly recommended for both food and drink, and dog friendly. Ideal base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastLovely big beer garden in Masons Arms very friendly efficient service in both pubs. We will definitely return,we love Warkworth, and St Lawrence church is also worth a visit.
Small but beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. What a peaceful spot only yards from the stunning river Coquet and just down the footpath from Warkworth castle. Fine for 2 people but would be very snug for 4 as the twin room was pretty cramped. At last, a holiday let with a decent TV which also had access to Netflix and Prime. Very useful in the eveings as my wife's health makes going out at the end of the day a real challenge. It makes a brilliant base to explore from Amble in the south to Lindisfarne in the north.

Location was superb, the cottage itself is really quaint. Thoroughly enjoyed the log fire too. The only thing that let it down for us, was that the shower in the bathroom was a little tired and the living room was a bit draughty around the stairwell and the front door. This was not helped by the fact it was bitterly cold and blustery outside. We had an amazing time, would love to go again and would definitely recommend.

Lovely little cottage in a great location in Warkworth.
Lovely little cottage in a great location in Warkworth. Kitchen is a little pokey and not much room to store anything but there are some nice pubs to eat out at in the village. Loved being close by the river and it was great to have a pair of binoculors in house to do bird watching.

We had a perfect weekend break in Warkworth at Oake Cottage.
We had a perfect weekend break in Warkworth at Oake Cottage. We wanted to be not far from the sea, somewhere quiet in the countryside - and as non-drivers, somewhere we could reach easily on public transport.
We couldn't have asked for a better spot - tranquil sleep after evenings in front of the cosy fire; days spent walking along the banks of the Coquet into nearby Amble for amazing fish suppers.
Oake Cottage has the amenities you could want for a holiday (and groceries can be stocked up in Amble, which has a Co-op and Tesco), with even a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us, and a fire ready-laid. It's easy to reach: the local bus drops you round the corner from the cottage in the Market Place, if you're coming from Alnmouth Station.
Plenty of towels, a warm and comfy bed, everything snug and quiet. You're guaranteed a happy, cosy time!

If Jane Austen were staying here, she would consider the cottage most 'happily situated'.
If Jane Austen were staying here, she would consider the cottage most 'happily situated'.
The river with its beautiful walks and wonderful wildlife is yards from the door. The church is at the end of the street, and, round the corner, the village market place with a handy shop/post office, two pub/restaurants, two cafes, one specialising in chocolate and a number of other quirky restaurants and galleries a few yards further afield. The walk to the castle is up (literally) the main street, or along the river bank - take your pick.
As for the cottage itself, it was originally a one-up one-down part of a terrace, now completely modernised within. Downstairs is open plan, kitchen area at one end and wood stove at the other. The only thing is, you have to remember to boil the kettle during the adverts, and not just as Poirot announces "And ze murderer is...". Upstairs, the spacious one old bedroom has been converted into two, plus a shower room with toilet. There are TVs in the bedrooms. The central heating is very effective, if needed.

beautifully renovated to a high standard.
beautifully renovated to a high standard. The only down side was that the freezer was in an outhouse across from the cottage. Having to go outdoors, unlock the outhouse to get a few ice cubes for drinks in the evening was a bind. recommend that the owners replace the refridgerator with one that at least has a small freezing compartment.
