Seafield House stands in the centre of the charming village of Lochinver, on the stunning north west coast of Scotland. With spectacular views across the sea to the islands beyond, this bright and spacious, three storey, detached property provides a wonderful holiday home for larger families or groups. Built in 1800, Seafield House was originally owned by the village shoemaker. The owners have carried out a meticulous programme of renovation throughout, whilst retaining a wealth of original features. They have succeeded in creating a unique blend of old and new, using carefully sourced reclaimed materials, as well as exposing original stonework and fireplaces. On the ground floor, there is a large living room with wood burner and lovely views across the sea. The dining room is simply stunning, with an exposed lime-washed stone wall and huge feature fireplace. An open door leads through to the farmhouse-style kitchen with solid wood dressers and work surfaces. From here, a door leads out to the patio area and the wildlife garden, where deer are frequent visitors. Wide, original staircases lead up to the bedrooms on the first and second floors. They are all very attractively furnished and decorated, again using a wealth of reclaimed furniture and furnishings.
Lochinver is a thriving fishing village with a natural harbour. It has a good selection of restaurants, two pubs, small shops and cafes. The stunning white sandy beach of Achmelvich is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and there are numerous sandy and rocky bays along this beautiful unspoilt coastline. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hill walking, fishing and climbing are all available locally. The area is a haven for wildlife, with deer regularly seen close to the cottage and can even sometimes be seen wandering in the garden. Osprey, eagles, seals and otters are all spotted in the immediate area. There are superb walks and climbs direct from the house and the dramatic peaks of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt dominate the skyline of this wild and unspoilt Highland region. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Lovely location as a base to explore the North West coast of the Highlands. Spacious house, good wood burner, good sized rooms, well equipped kitchen with all you'd expect.
My only complaint would be a lack of some sundries, such as there were only a few toilet rolls between us 7 adults and 2 children - 2 out of the 3 bathrooms we used ran out of toilet paper. We also felt they were a bit stingy with laundry detergent - something which again we ran out of and had to buy our own.
The other issue I had was check in time is after 5pm and the local shop shuts at 5.30pm on a Saturday which is a very short window and doesn't allow much time to buy essential provisions. So you need to plan ahead and make sure you bring some food items with you especially if you're travelling from afar.
