About this property
Finlaystone Barns luxury apartments
The Finlaystone Barns are high quality open plan apartments situated near Glasgow in Renfrewshire at the heart of Finlaystone Estate, which overlooks the Clyde estuary. There are 10 acres of formal gardens and extensive woodlands to explore and visitors can also use the woodland BBQ. The Estate, which is a popular local attraction, also has a small shop, a tea room and a ranger service and is home to the Clan MacMillan Centre. Visitors can easily access a wide range of local places of interest from Glasgow to Loch Lomond, all within easy driving distance.
Accommodation:The East Barn and West Barns are located within an oak framed building and are accessed via an external oak staircase. The Barns combine traditional craftsmanship with modern standards of comfort and the space is largely open plan. Each property has a wood burning stove, sofa bed which can be used for a third guest, chair and coffee table at one end separated by a screen from the kingsized bed and the enclosed shower room. The kitchen area is well appointed and there are little luxuries such as a nespresso coffee machine. The interior has been decorated to a high standard to ensure a modern but homely feel. There is a TV which can be swivelled so as to be seen from most parts of the room and a washer/dryer. The Barns are very well insulated but electric heaters are installed for all year round comfort. A small extra charge is made for electricity used over an allowance. Outdoors there is access to extensive gardens and woodlands.
For those who want more space or wish to accommodate up to 6 people you can consider our Family Barn which is disabled friendly on the ground floor and can be booked through a separate Homeway entry. Guests have use of 10 acres of formal gardens, BBQ and play areas in the wood and pets are welcome for which there is a small extra charge.

About the host
Hosted by Arthur MacMillan

I own and run Finlaystone Estate which has been in the family 140 years and is the base of the Clan MacMillan of which my father is the chief. My wife and I opened two smaller barns 5 years ago and they have been very popular so we have opened a slightly larger one in the same building.
Why they chose this property
When designing the building I based it round an oak frame because it provides a lovely atmosphere and enables one to create warm open spaces. It is enhanced by the imaginative way my wife has decorated and furnished it. Being a new building it is well insulated.
What makes this property unique
Guests have many reasons to visit this area of Scotland and find the Estate an unusual and welcoming base for their stay. We are set in a rural location but very close to Glasgow, the airport and the motorway so getting around the area is very easy.
