The Sea Gypsy has one of the best views of the ocean in all of Lincoln City. We give it a 5 star rating for the view. There were some problems with the condo and the building in general. We stayed in 227 Life is a Highwave. The listing advertised a large recliner in the living room, two massage chairs, and a twin roll away bed in the bedroom. We were counting on using the bed in the bedroom, in addition to the queen bed. When we arrived, we found that there wasn't a roll away bed, nor a recliner, and there was only one massage chair. The listing really should be changed to reflect the furnishings accurately.
There were some things that didn't work in the condo. The master bathroom toilet could only be flushed by holding the flush handle all the way down. The switch on one of the living room lights did not work, and there was a burned out bulb in one of the lamps.
The baseboards in the unit are in need of painting, and some of the curtains are missing hanging hooks, so the draperies sag and don't close properly. The kitchen faucet can't move, and it feels as though if you tried to move it, you would cause it to break.
There are three access pointes to the beach but only one is usable. I understand the King tides damaged two of the entry point steps. Those should be repaired ASAP. The only current access steps are so covered with sand, it's almost as if there are no steps. The railing leading down to the beach broke the first day we were there, and was never fixed in the entire week we stayed. These are just little things, and I don't mean to picky, but they really should be addressed.
The walls are rather thin, and we could hear the people above us, but that is to be expected with an older building.
I enjoyed the kitchen, as it was stocked with lots of cooking vessels. They had provided salt and pepper and some basic spices, and flour and sugar, and foil, and saran wrap.
There were lots of bars of soap, lotion and condition provided.
Some cleaning supplies would have been appreciated, and maybe a small vacuum, so I could clean up the sand that I'm sure we tracked in.
Check in was nice and easy.
If the items could be fixed in room 227, the rental could be a lot nicer.
I would consider booking again at the Sea Gypsy in the future but probably not 227.
