About this property

Architectural/Minimal Villa in Forte dei Marmi, Roma Imperiale

CASA PERGOLA was built by renowned Architect Lorenzo Papi in the 70s. Papi worked with Aalto and Le Corbusier and directed Luigi Nervi’s studio in the US. The architecture of the villa is extremely peculiar and unique, it is a spacious and light filled modern house. Architecture historians and passionate students come on pilgrimage to visit it.
The portion of Casa Pergola for rent is facing the famous Alpi Apuane, where experts and hikers have the chance to explore the famous quarries and the extraordinary views from the top. Carrara quarries are a hit for Michelangelo lovers, as he used to extract marble from there.
The villa is called Casa Pergola because of the gorgeous arbors that surround the whole building. A wonderful porch hosts a perfect space where to dine secretly.
Via Carrà is a quiet street surrounded by villas and trees. There is also a park with a training path that can be enjoyed all day. It is located in the VIP and greener area of Forte dei Marmi, called Roma Imperiale.
The Villa has a beautiful garden with pine trees, bamboo, roses and oleanders.
The owners of the villa offer their own gardener to take care of the garden on a weekly basis.
The villa matches the idea ‘from within outward’: indoor and outdoor spaces are perfectly connected through window glasses and travertino terraces.
All the ceilings of the villa are sky-blue, in order to remind you of the sky.
When sitting in the living room you can enjoy the marine breeze coming in from the huge windows of the house.
The villa can accomodate 8 people in the 4 bedrooms and extra beds can be placed in the rooms.
There is a large living room, with sofas, chairs, wifi, and TV. The dining room is connected to the living room through a modern glass table. There is a tiny, but fully equipped kitchen with wash machine.
The living room and the kitchen are accessible through all the terraces of the house and suddenly you will feel outside.
A spectacular teak stair enclosed in two huge glass windows will lead you to the upper floor, where two master bedrooms are linked through a bathroom with tub and white and blue floors.
Both bedrooms have closets, chairs, and a huge terrace facing the bamboo trees.
The ground floor is completely independent, in fact there is a separate entrance, with a different key. Here you will find two bedrooms, fully equipped with closets and a king size bedroom, and a queen size bedroom on the East wing.
Both bedrooms have their own terrace and you can access them through the garden.
On the back side of the villa there is an extra fridge, a laundry and a space where to dry clothes.
There is a parking for up to three cars and bicycles are more than welcome.
The owners of the villa spend their summer next door and they are extremely helpful and never home.
It’s a 10 minutes walk from the beach, 5 minutes by bike and 3 by car.
Forte dei Marmi downtown is equally close.
It is also close to all Forte dei Marmi amenities, but private and quiet for even the most discerning resident.
Children, pets and smokers are all welcome.

We made the difficult decision to leave this property before spending even one night there. Our experience started badly when the host, who lives in another part of the property, greeted us with obvious frustration because she had waited about 30 minutes for our arrival. We had been driving from Florence and kept her updated throughout the trip with our ETA based on traffic, so this was not the welcome we expected.Once inside, we discovered that two of the four bedrooms are completely separate from the other two, essentially in another building—far from ideal for a family with children. The lower-level bedrooms also had an overwhelming smell of dampness and humidity that made them uncomfortable to stay in. The bathrooms were outdated, dark water came out when we first turned on the faucets, the towels were old and worn, and there wasn’t even soap in the showers. We were also concerned about security. The glass doors did not lock properly, and the only way to secure the house was by lowering old electric shutters, which also felt like a potential safety hazard in an emergency.Overall, the property felt neglected, unclean, and not somewhere we felt comfortable sleeping with our three children. After we raised these concerns, the owner was rude and then stopped responding altogether. We left around midnight and fortunately found a lovely hotel. Despite not staying a single night, she refused to refund the remaining four-night reservation.I cannot recommend this property

Great Location

Lovely property - attentive host -. ample outdoor space. Set up with bedrooms is unusual but affords privacy. No dryer only washer but it was hot so our laundry dried quickly. Would stay here again - fell in love with the town.
